🩺💚 Nurse Awareness Month 🩺💚

The last week of May means it's our last chance to show appreciation of our fantastic nurses and show you all how important they are in the daily running of a vet practice!

Our team is made up of 5 nurses and 1 student!
Meet Amiee, Lynne, Yvonne, Emily, Daisy and Leona!

We all have a passion for animals and love caring for them. After qualifying, some of our nurses have progressed onto the degree course and completed certificates such as emergency and critical care and anaesthesia. Furthering our knowledge helps us to improve our skills and ensure we are providing the best care for our patients.

Our nurses monitor anaesthetics, perform diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests and so much more.
Nurses can also hold a variety of consultations including nail clips, weight clinics, 2nd vacc, microchipping, allergy vaccs, librela or solensia injections and many more!

Nurses are a vital part of a veterinary practice so say hello to any of our friendly staff when your in and they will be thrilled to help!

💚🩺 Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 🩺💚

Another important role we do as RVN's is to teach the new generation of nurses!

Nursing can take up to 4 years with exams, placements, completing an online training log and final practical OSCE examinations.

Students are supported in practice from the whole team but are also assigned a clinical supervisor who will oversee their training.

Watching students progress into qualified nurses is very rewarding.

After qualifying there is the opportunity to expand their knowledge further with continued professional development.

🐾💚🩺Vet Nurse Awareness Month 🩺💚🐾

This year we celebrate 20 years of Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM) created by the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA)

The theme this year is focused on 'progression' with the aim of highlighting the diverse range of skills, abilities and career pathways of Vet Nurses!

One of these include assisting the vet when an animal needs emergency care. Our feline patient below ingested some lillys which is toxic to cats so was rushed in.

Below shows Emily one of our RVN's restraining the patient safely in order for an intravenous catheter to be placed for administration of fluids.

Emily has a keen interest in emergency patients and is studying for her Certificate in Emergency and Critical care.

Nurses then closely monitor the patient and provide ongoing care as instructed by the vet.

Nursing is very rewarding when you see the care provided making a difference and the patient is the able to go home happy!

Look out for more ways a Vet Nurse can help your pets!
