We had another wonderful demo & workshop day yesterday 🦄 lovely to have Sue giving everyone some knowledge on energy work , amazing to work with different horse/handler combos all working on slightly different skills and so nice to see some new faces coming along to spectate . ❣️ a perfect way to spend a cold Sunday in November 🤩

If you came along to my August talk & demo you will have met Flynn , Flynn suffered a serious neurological illness in 2023 & has been struggling to bounce back from it but this Autumn Flynn has made some huge improvements 🙌🏻
Flynn really needed time inbetween exercises to process what he had learnt , back in August this was laying down (sometimes for nearly 30mins!) now he is able to deal with longer sessions & shorter breaks inbetween , usually finding that a huge yawn is enough 😆
In my demo/talk I mentioned rest periods , always remember when you are training to allow these rest periods as you’ll then find that what they have learnt sticks so much more easily ❣️ Flynn is a wonderful boy & I am so blessed to have him in my life 🥰

Very proud of my students yesterday , it was an absolute pleasure to host this workshop! Graham worked hard during his first ever ground work session! Discovering how to use his body language & energy to ask the horse to yield shoulders & hind quarters , finishing with yielding onto a small lunge . Julie had some great insights into more confidently using her energy & being more effective with how she’s asking her horse to move , as well as getting some fab square halts & weight rocking ! Well done with the subtle ques!
Victoria excelled in tuning into her energy to become more grounded & clear, after getting into a beautiful flow of moving through yields & changes of direction she was able to move to off the line & ask her horse to stick with her around the arena , the beginnings of true connection & liberty ❣️

With the weather looking a bit debatable today I am very thankful we have our wonderful indoor arena to work in!
Today’s demo focus is how to convert the basic ground work exercises into useful gymnastic exercises.
We have plenty of spaces for spectators so if you are looking for something to do on a rainy day come along & join us ❣️

We will open the arena doors at 9.30am for a hot drink & a catch up before we start the first demo at 10am.
The day should run until about 3pm , so feel free to bring your lunch with you. Tea/coffee & light refreshments will be available.

She will be joining the demo on Sunday to show off the fundamental exercises I like to teach a horse .
In todays practice session she absolutely aced the fundamentals & moved onto learning bringing hind quarters to me (pre -requisite to haunches in) she is certainly a very quick learner !! Takes after her mother , Poco, and grandmother , Riah, ❣️ Demo & workshop day ❣️

Why do groundwork with your horse ?
This is a question which is often asked when I offer groundwork lessons , especially when people are very motivated about riding horses . Here are just a few reasons why groundwork is beneficial to both you & your horse.
- It deepens the bond & trust between you & your horse
- It makes task like loading into a trailer or lorry easier & less stressful
- If your horse is hard to catch in the field, groundwork will help with this
- It can train your eye to more easily see how your horse is moving
- It’s fun! And it gives you more things to do with your horse so you don’t get stuck always doing the same thing.
- It’s great for fitness, coordination & balance (for riders as well!) as a handler you are moving all the time & sometimes backwards, so your fitness & balance improves without you realising it!
- For the horses it’s like going to the gym & using their own body as the weights, it builds muscle & flexibility whilst also working on their mental health.
- You don’t have to do it for hours! Even just 10minutes at the start of your usual session will help ! And you can add groundwork into your usual sessions , this is not to replace what your already doing it’s going to compliment it!

Thunders first steps at liberty with me , his session started with him being distracted, unsure & anxious but after doing my first 4 exercises he became aware of his own body space (& mine) , was attentive and most importantly relaxed . I just love how much he stretches his neck out in the video ❣️ if you’d like to see Thunder in person & see how we got to this nice relaxed frame come along on Sunday 20th October where I will do a demonstration with 2 of my horses followed by 1:1 sessions . Lesson spaces & spectator spaces are currently available

We had such a great day of lessons yesterday , kicked off with some energy work exercises with Susan Zacharias , helping each of our students become more aware of their own energy & to become a more grounded horse trainer . Then we moved onto our lessons, looking at the natural balances of the 5 different horses, how our energy can effect their way of going & what can we do to help all of this . I can’t thank all of our students enough for their positive engagement throughout the day , making the whole day fun & informative.
