With the recent warm weather, our pigs have eagerly started their favourite activity early this year! To keep them happy and cool, our dedicated Animal Care Team has crafted some delightful mud wallows just for them.
Did you know pigs have sensitive skin that can easily burn in the sun? By rolling in the mud, they create a natural sunscreen, protecting themselves from those harsh rays. Plus, as the mud dries and the water evaporates, it helps keep them cool and comfortable. 💚

Moving our pigs to their summer paddocks 💚🌞
✨ Pure joy ✨Our cows are finally out in the field after a winter in the barn! 💥
Typically, they would have gone out earlier, but persistent bad weather has kept the ground too wet until now. Our sanctuary sits on heavy clay soil, so it's vital to let it rest over winter to ensure lush grazing for our cows during spring and summer.
During the winter months, our cows have been cosied up in the barn, enjoying their favorite treat – hay! 🌾 However, this winter has been particularly wet, keeping them indoors for longer periods. As a result, we've had to spend more on straw and hay than ever before. If you'd like to help us cover some of these extra costs, please click the link below! The rescued animals at Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary had a very special visit today, from none other than Father Christmas himself! Despite his busy schedule, the man in red was happy to muck in with sanctuary jobs like feeding and bedding our animals and of course delivering their Christmas gifts! 🎁💚
In early November, we launched our Deck the Stalls Appeal, to raise funds towards our winter running costs. We are so grateful to everyone who has donated, helping to raise almost £2,000 towards animal feed, bedding, medicine and more.
