This will be the final post and heads up, it’s a long one!
Firstly, I’d like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for supporting my business, whether it’s been for a few months, or years, I really have had the best customers I could have ever hoped for when starting my business.
After working a weekend job in retail, I soon discovered that it was not the type of work suited to me and so decided that I was going to take the leap and create something new. I’d be lying if I said the idea was all mine though, after having Indie I discovered a love for being outdoors with just me and my dog and her little face was meant to be shown off on a logo. And so with that, I created Amelia’s Wagging Tail Walkies.
My first ever customer was Skipper who was an absolute dream to work with, a perfect start. Soon after came Roxy and Mia and then came along Cilla. Every Friday before I had my car Indie and I would set out to Cilla to have some fun. As many of you know Cilla is considered the ‘Queen’ of our pack, she’s always been so elegant and prim, that is of course when she’s not rolling around or running through mud with her friends. Cilla was Indie’s first real friend, I remember the first time I let them off lead together and they just ran in circles around me with each other like they were having the best time ever. Then came along the mud queen Shelbie, who always watched me walk from my car to her house and then greet me with so much love and excitement at the door. One day she was particularly excited to show me how she decorated the hallway with ripped up paper that were flyers that had been posted through, that moment still to this day provided me with one of my favourite photo’s. This is also something that’s rubbed off on her new little sister Millie, it’s funny to see how alike they are, and how much Shelbie has grown up, she’s gone from proud to show me torn up mail, to proud to show me her little sister who she loves so very much. Just after Christmas Sydney joined us, I’m sure his name is familiar with most of you. I had Sydney every morning and what a perfect way it was to start each day with him. Each day I would pull up outside his home and he’d be on the front lawn waiting for me, he’d stand up and be wagging his tail as soon as he saw my car. Not only does Sydney look like a teddy bear, but he most certainly acted like one too, always wanting cuddles and love. He loved his tennis ball so much too, one time he dropped his ball in a field which had longer grass, so it was nowhere to be seen, but I asked Syd to go find his ball and sure enough he knew the exact spot he left it and was very chuffed with himself when he come running to me with his beloved ball. Speaking of ball mad dogs, Alfie joined when he was only a few months old and has always been so loveable and unique. I’ve never known a dog be able to happily occupy themselves for so long as Alfie does. Every group day he’d come outside and run to my mums car first to say good morning to her before getting in mine, and then say goodbye to her on his way back. We were walking on the pavement one day when he came across a cartoon Simpsons ball, he looked at me as if to say ‘please let me take it Amelia’ and sure enough he took it and carried it all the way home, that became his most treasured possession. Now we move onto Bali also know as ‘Bar Man’, I think he just liked us calling that so it made him seem more macho in front of his friends, despite the fact he’s one of the biggest babies. Well what can I say about Bali, every time I walk through the door he runs off to find a toy and bring it to me before giving me a big hug. On group days when he gets out of my car he always takes a blanket back in with him, every time without fail. At the field I’d sit on the bench and say ‘Who’s going to come sit with me?’, and as soon as Bali heard that he’d come bounding over and sit on my lap for a cuddle before racing off to play with his friends. When Peggy joined she decided she was going to be the life of the party and get every dog running around and playing whether they usually do or not. I’m convinced Peggy could hear a rustle of a treat bag from a mile away, she’d always have her eye on my mums coat pocket just in case a treat come out for her. Even if there weren’t any she’d come and sit in front of her so politely to see if she’d get one, she usually did. With Peggy come her Uncle Monty, it’s only the past few months that I’ve actually realised how fast little Monty can run, given he does look a bit like a rabbit when he does, he certainly keeps up. I remember when Robbie was a tiny puppy and he come on his first group, Monty was so protective of him which was adorable to see. One of Monty’s favourite things to do would be to rub his long white fur in mud and would give us a cheeky look straight after. As much as I love my small/medium dogs, for the longest time I remember thinking I’d love to have some bigger ones, and then came along Rocky and Georgie, better known as ‘The Boys’. Rocky probably looks like a dog people would say to “be careful” of, but in fact he is the biggest softie with a huge heart. At overnights with him he’d lay on me all night, fast asleep, given the fact I couldn’t breathe because I was being crushed underneath him, it was one of the most adorable things ever. If I saw Georgie out I’d probably turn to my mum and say “I want him”, he is so beautiful. There’s no safer feeling than walking with Georgie by my side. It’s probably strange to say in regards to a dog, but in a way I’ve always felt like Georgie had my back, like we’ve got our own little language that he understands. Quite often when I’m out with Georgie he’ll stop walking, turn around and give me a hug, a full on paws on my shoulders, head resting on my chest hug and then just carry on walking, it makes my heart feel so full. Sometimes when I’d be out with Sydney I’d see Max out with his owner, and I can remember her asking “Do you think he’ll get much bigger?”, and honestly till this day I’ve never seen a bigger Cockapoo than Max. I’ve also never seen a dog make as many dogs love him as Max has. He’s always been such a bundle of joy on our groups because everyone wants to play with Max. Sydney likes other dogs, but he’s never been too bothered to go out of his way to be with them, but one morning when I was with him he spotted Max from across the field, and Max spotted Sydney, they went bounding over to each other, like they were so chuffed to see their friend from their group outside of group time. Soon it turned to Labrador season, starting off with Buster. To be honest, some of my walks with Buster now looking back seem like a weird dream, but needless to say there has never been a dull moment, from being chased by a Fox to sharing a field with a helicopter. Busters mum had warned me beforehand that he likes to howl at sirens and for some reason it seemed like whenever I was out with him, so were sirens. Despite him reacting to ambulances going by, he never did react to the ice cream van that use to make me jump every time they drove by playing it’s tune. Next was Rex who I’ve had since he was only a few weeks old. I remember at his first visit teaching him ‘paw’ and having him biting my pigtails, even though he’s all grown up now, he still does it from time to time. That’s not the only thing he’s learned though, he also learned that he loves dancing to Harry Styes in the kitchen with me, is there a better way of bonding? He has grown up to be such a handsome and clever boy, but I think I’ll always see him as that tiny puppy giving me his paw. My first walk with Scout was in a blizzard, which was when I took one of my favourite photo’s of him, he looks so pretty with the snow on his face. There’s something about seeing Scout running around that is so freeing. We’d have so much fun running around a field together and him trying to round me up. We were at the secure field one time and Indie decided she was not going to get back in the car to go home, and I know she’s just a little pug, but don’t underestimate how fast she can run, we couldn’t catch her at all and she thought it was amazing, but in the end we were running out of time, so I told Scout to bring her to me, and it’s like he understood exactly what I said, because sure enough he rounded her up with us so we could get her and he loved every minute of it. Our groups have been a big part of the past couple of years as they’ve allowed so many friendships to have been made. Macy & Moola love playing with a ball with any dog that will play with it with them in the groups, similarly to Reggie, Comet and Ruby, having said that Ruby does decide sometimes she’s going to be a princess and have cuddle time instead. Although they were only tiny puppies when they first joined (they still are really) they could definitely keep up their speed with the bigger dogs and give them a run for their money. They also made sure to remind everyone on the group to bark at the cows every now and then. Honey is the one dog my other two dogs Honey and Oscar have taken to. They’re usually very antisocial and don’t want to know any other dog, but for some reason they treat her as if she’s one of them which is lovely to see. Honey will play with any dog, no matter the size or temperament, she’ll match their energy perfectly which is beautiful to see. Millie was also a big part on our Friday groups, she’s so tiny and fast, sometimes she’d look like a little rabbit bounding through the field. She loved to play with Coco, who once she come out of her shell was so so loving and playful. But these are all stories from my regular weekly pups, I’ve had so much fun with others too, Marley with the most beautiful eyes, Floyd the Staffy that I think will forever look like a puppy, Chilli the Chihuahua who would often seem excited to have his diabetes injection but would be fuming if I dared show him his harness, Reggie the most loving, obedient and handsome boy who dressed up with me in sunglasses one time, Archer who went on an adventure with me in a hail storm so we ended up hiding in some bushes until it stopped, Billy & Bella who both act like little baby’s who just love love, Ruben who looks like he’s genuinely smiling when he’s running through the grass, Jack the Jack Russel who wanted to bite me every morning until he properly woke up and realised it was me, I honestly could talk about them all day. As many happy times as we’ve had we’ve also had some losses, but we always remember and love our little pack Angels.
I can’t begin to express how thankful I am for the bonds I’ve made with your animals and the amazing memories I’ve had the pleasure of making over these past years. I’m going to keep my business page on here as there’s so many amazing photos for myself and you to look back on. Please also feel free to use this as a space to connect with your dogs friends owners if you’d like to meet up or anything like that. Feel free to add me on my personal page if you haven’t already, I’d love to see what my pups are getting up to in the future. That will also be the best place to message me from here on out. While this is the end, I want you all to know that I will still always be here should you need me, whether it’s a weekend overnight or a visit, if I can do it then of course I will.
Saying goodbye is my least favourite thing to have to do, but in the wise words of Winnie the Pooh, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
And with that said…
Thank you & Goodbye ❤️🐾♾
