Remember the 2 very weak House Martins and Starling who cuddled up together when they first came in 🥰 Well the House Martins have been released 🎉

This little group was inseparable at the beginning, looking to eachother for comfort and warmth. Eventually they had to move into separate cages to maintain their condition but they clearly never forgot eachother.....

When it came to do the release I thought it would be nice for the two House Martins to say one last goodbye to their Starling friend.

When I brought them out to his cage the Starling started chirping like mad!. This is an interesting observation that even when he is surrounded by the sound of other House Martins he immediately responded to just them! He clearly recognised them as individuals 🤔 He remembered his little friends 🐦🐦

Release updates 🏁 our little gang of 6 House Sparrows are released... that included the tiny hatchling from Glenrothes his wee pal, and ones from Rosyth, Dundee, Kinross, Methil....

Also 2 Wood Pigeons who came in as balls of yellow fluff... grew up to be very strong and beautiful pigeons 🥰

We do love a 'before and after' picture 📷

Thank you for all the recent donations 🙏
Things are getting hectic at the moment, so please bare with me if I don't always answer the phone. I'm probably trying to feed a naughty House Martin !

Newbie ⚠️ Alert....it's been another busy weekend. Firstly 3 little Goldfinch nestlings were rescued in Leven after a tree was cut down. Then...yet more House Martins have arrived from all over. Two from ICR Vets in Edinburgh who arranged transport for them.

Thankfully, the sun is shining at last 🌞 and I can get some releases done. Clear some space for the next batch 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

These poor House Martins are the only ones to survive after two nests collapsed recently from the eaves of houses 😥 The two photos at the bottom are of a little one who was rescued in Edinburgh and rushed over to me by Kathy.

The photo at the top shows two little babies who were in a bad way after their nest collapsed onto the ground in Auchtertool.

All this rain is a disaster for these nests that are made of mud 🌧 They become loose and fall apart.

Thankfully these little ones are all doing well. I've got a large stock of mealworms and waxworms so they will be fat little dumplings in no time!

I've also got 6 Sparrows and 2 House Martins ready for release when the weather calms down a bit! 🙏

This is incredible 😲 a nest of tiny little wrens has travelled all the way from Scarborough! Their nest was built under a vehicle used by Team Tolly Racing #33 who are competing this weekend at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

It's incredible any survived the journey, one did and is doing better now after getting heated up in the incubator and some good food (... wrens have such a big appetite for tiny wee birds!)

Thanks to Ben Tolliday for spotting them and finding help. Let's support him in his motorcycle races this weekend 🏍 🏁 🏆

This poor wee Swift was found out the nest and lying on the ground. The wee soul is very thin, frail and underweight and probably left the nest out of sheer desperation for food. Obviously something had gone wrong 😥

Many thanks to Robert for cancelling his job that day and making the round trip from Pittenweem.
When he handed the box over I could hear her 'cries' she was very vocal.

Now she's strong enough to cling on to my fleece at feeding time. Swifts have such a powerful grip!
She's got a little while to go until her wing length and body weight is at a releasable standard, but she's doing well.

Ofcourse she has to be named Taylor 🎵

A few more releases happened at the weekend, Natasha the Chaffinch did one last pose, with her remaining 'baby tuft' billowing in the breeze!

Another batch of House Martins went as well. Two from Pitlochry and three from Powmill.

As they go out.... more come in! 🐦🐦🐦

I will update you all tomorrow about the newbies!

It's nice to have friends 🥰 Remember the wee baldy Sparrow from my earlier posts.... well he's all grown up and got a nice little gang. Included in this bundle are House Sparrows from Glenrothes (fell from nest), Methil ( fell from nest), Rosyth (catted) and two recently brought down from Dundee by Claudia.

We do love ❤️ a Sparrow!

The first House Martin got released yesterday 🏁 He was rescued after a nest fall in Edinburgh and had a tilted head. I wasn't sure how well he was going to do but after a couple of days it was perfect!

Just over a week later and he's good to go, very agitated and ready to launch 🚀

He flew off strongly and was joined immediately by our resident House Martins.

The first of many... it's Martin mayhem at the moment !!

Just an update 📣 ... the two House Martins and Starling are so much better this morning. Their eyes are open and they are all gaping for food. No matter where I put them in the brooder they always end up like this... snuggled up!

Also in other news.... Baby Beaks has reached 3000 followers 🐦🐦🐦🐦 The flock is growing 🥰 thank you so much everyone x

A wee sad story 😢... yesterday two little House Martins were rescued after their nest had been abandoned. They were still alive but the others in the nest were all dead. They are so weak and emaciated.
Also yesterday a very weak fledgling Starling was rescued in Edinburgh.
Well I put them in separate nests in the brooder but when I came back to check on them they had all come out and snuggled together ❤️
Obviously needing comfort and body heat.

Well.... they've survived the night 🥰

This morning they look a little bit stronger and one House Martin is even chirping 🎶
Fingers crossed they all keep improving, I'm doing my best 🙏

Look at me 👀 ... such a poser!
This fledgling Chaffinch has made a remarkable recovery after being caught by a cat in Glenfarg. She was found next to a dead sibling but this little one was still alive.
After some treatment and care she's looking beautiful...and doesn't she know it 😘
Strutting her stuff while her cage is being cleaned. I think we'll call her Natasha 🖤
