Release updates 🐦🥰 this Little Blue Tit was rescued by Sally a few weeks ago. Normally a fledgling should be left alone to be with its parents and siblings 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

However in this case it was clear the Blue Tit was needing help. That's why I like people to send photos to see exactly whats going on before intervening 📸 His eyes were closed which is always a bad sign!

He was very thin but ...after a couple of weeks of good food and TLC he came on beautifully and got released.

Also released was a Dunnock from Dunshalt rescued by Hamish !

This little House Sparrow is a fighter 🥊 He came in a couple of days ago after being found outside someone's porch in Glenrothes. He'd obviously hit the ground hard and looked a bit swollen and bruised. I wasn't sure if he was going to make it, but..... next morning his little beak popped out from under the cotton wool and there he was, demanding to be fed!

He's now completely recovered and is full of energy! He's the second loudest beak in the room...📣

As you can see the little knitted nests are getting well used, the wee birds love them 🥰

Sibling rivalry! 🐦💥 🐦These little House Martins from Dundee like a good squabble between feeds. The heavy rains last Saturday caused quite a few House Martin nests to collapse. After falling from such a height, usually onto paving or driveways, its amazing that any survive. I've also had some arrive from Powmill and Edinburgh.

Ofcouse there's always the stubborn ones who NEVER open their beak. It makes the feeding process quite fiddly. All good exercise for my healing wrist !!

This must be the luckiest Starling ever! 😲 Yesterday we were having a lovely afternoon visiting Crail Harbour...ofcourse within 2 seconds of arriving there was bird drama!

Screeching could be heard above and a Herring Gull flew past with a baby Starling in its beak, persued by the Starling parents and another Gull. During all the commotion the Gull dropped the baby Starling and it fell into the harbour water, sludge and seaweed!🌊 I was horrified and looked for the wee soul in the water but he was gone... drowned, ...or so I thought.

Half an hour later we decided to go for a walk along the nearby beach 🏖. Just at that moment, who got washed up on the beach,..... the baby Starling!!! A total miracle he'd been in the sea for ages and was so bedraggled and exhausted but alive.

His guardian angel was looking after him, getting washed up on the beach right in front of a bird rescuer! (...who also looked bedraggled😆)

He's dried off and got his strength back now and there's hardly a scratch on him! What a Miracle Baby 🕊

This little Dunnock was found in Coaltown of Wemyss, Angie rushed him over to me and and after some heat and food he started to perk up. After 2 weeks he was eating mealworms by himself and flying strongly, so the time came for him to be released.

People often confuse Dunnocks with Sparrows (brown colour) but if you look at that pointy little beak that is a sign he's mainly an insect eater. Sparrows have a stubby strong beak for eating seeds.
...and he loved his mealworms and waxworms!

I'm back!!! 🎉 Its been a long recovery process after my motorbike accident 🏍 but what really helped was caring for a select few babies that really brightened my spirits and made me heal quicker! 🥰 First was a fledgling Greenfinch, then a House Sparrow hatchling and Tree Sparrow, who eventually became good friends and were released together. There was also a Blue Tit who had been soaked in the heavy rains, a couple of Dunnocks... and ofcourse a few baby pigeons!

I'm taking it slowly and won't be doing the huge numbers as previous years but they will all be getting the best attention and TLC. Throughout it all I've been answering people's phone enquiries and helping where I can.

Thanks for the support and kind wishes from everyone 🙏 and the donations.

Happy Easter everyone 🐣

Frosty the Blackbird got released today! 🎉It's been so nice to see him grow up over the past few weeks after being attacked by crows as a little fledgling!

There's plenty of food and water in the garden so hopefully he decides to stick around with our ever growing flock of feathered visitors.

As for me, I get my cast off in 4 weeks so hopefully then it can be business as usual here at Baby Beaks. I've only got 2 Feral Pigeons, who are ready for release at the moment and giving help and advice over the phone etc.

I'm used to healing birds, not myself, but these releases are the best medicine!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated recently either through PayPal or Amazon. Its always nice to receive such wonderful help from our Baby Beaks supporters, especially to those who donate monthly 🥰

We are completely stocked up now with more beautiful nests ( I feel like curling up in one myself ). It looks like the weather is going to be perfect for releases this week 🌞

A little update on what's happening at Baby Beaks... Percy and his pal are in the aviary and almost ready for release.... little teddy that has accompanied him since his rescue has been abandoned! Lol

Frosty the baby Blackbird is completely self feeding and almost ready for release too! Such a quick developer.

Also... I've managed to break my wrist ..(and my foot) in a motorbike crash so I'm really going to have to scale things back for 6 weeks until the plaster is off. Atleast Kerry is here to help me do the cleaning but I can't drive just now. So please understand. Its so typical at baby season but I'll do what I can.

Thank you also for all the donations that have been coming in over the past few weeks. I'll do a special post about that later as it really does mean alot.

Well that didn't take long... Frosty the Blackbird Fledgling has started self feeding! 🎉 I tried to film him a couple of times but the minute he saw the camera he stopped (funny how birds/animals know when they're being filmed) 😏 Anyway this is zoomed in from a distance.

On the menu today, suet block, sunflower hearts, golden chorus mix, apple and the favourite... mealworms!
