Naturally at Mill Cottage Pet Crematorium we do meet people weekly who are understandably sad,crying, low, depressed and perhaps in a state of shock.
These are expected feelings when your pet has passed away.
We have the utmost sympathy and natural empathy for these situations, so without doubt we can and will help you through your pets final journey.

When a pet passes away the key things to remember are -

1) Don’t panic. Have a cup of tea or glass of water if needed to help you stay focused.
2) Call a friend or family member if you need support before making further arrangements.
3) You dont need to call a vet, they are there for the living pets, not the deceased. They do offer a cremation service via a larger company if you prefer.
4) If you chose to bury your pet, you must own the land and your pet must not be buried near any water source. If you need help with burial Mill Cottage Pet Crematorium can assist with this.
5) Once you have chosen the pet crematorium you would like to use, call them to make all the arrangements.
6) At Mill Cottage Pet Crematorium we are open 24 hours 7 days a week for all calls and messages by any chosen method. Visits are by appointment only, as this was a ruling on our council planning approval. However this helps us dedicate individual and personal time for each pet family.
We live on Mill Cottage premises, so we are very accommodating around evening and weekend appointments and collections.
We are here for all domestic pets.

Mill Cottage Pet Crematorium will be hosting their first pet bereavement cafe on Monday March 11th 10-11:30am
Location - Yorkshire Barn Murton Lane, York YO19 5UF
There will be plenty of details to follow over the next few weeks, hopefully by giving you the heads up now, anyone with work may be able to take a couple of hours off to attend.
We feel this pet bereavement cafe will be beneficial to us and our pet families, and also those who we have never met who would like to attend.
Some parts will be slightly informal, with lots of opportunity to chat, but also hold some structure with talks, activities etc.
We will keep adding information each week as to help and remind .
If you or anyone you know would like to attend please do share the information.

Last week I helped Andy and Debbie with their beloved ‘Willow’ calmly and gently at home with Harvey and Poppy by her side too 🐾❤️🌈. Then she made her final journey in the care of Mill Cottage Pet Crematorium

Somtimes it’s difficult for us to be vocal about our business as it’s a very sensitive subject.
However more and more people say “oooh I didn’t know you were in York” and wished they had , had the opportunity to receive our help and support.
When we share posts etc it’s always to inform others what we have done to help our pet families. And to keep the memories alive for many a precious pet and their family.
We are coming up to our first year of being open in September.

Elizabeth is a fully qualified veterinary surgeon who offers peaceful home euthanasia for pets.
Covering North Yorkshire, York and East Yorkshire.
Most recently in York Elizabeth helped the owner of a gorgeous dog, Tank. We then followed in afterwards to help with our cremation services.
Both of us are individual businesses, however will communicate and work well together to help our pet families.

This message can never be spread too often! It is far too hot at the moment for daytime exercising 🐾 Never leave a pet (this applies to all pets) alone in a car, motorhome, caravan or in a room they cannot escape the sun. If in doubt leave them at home, making sure there are shady spots to escape, plenty of fresh water bowls and windows open for ventilation. Ourselves and veterinary practices across the country see heatstroke cases far too often in the summer months, please stay safe 🥵 ☀️
