It’s been a busy 2 weeks - Riff and I competed in 3 working trials in just 12 days. We qualified in all 3. 2nd In WD ch stake at Lincoln. 4th in TD open stake at Iceni ( this one qualified us for the TD Championships).
Then a bonus 3rd in WD stake at EAWTTS last Thursday.
Before this year - we have only managed to attend a total of 6 trials. He has qualified and won or been placed every time.
He is 7 now and a veteran - but still loves to work.

Must be 18 months since our last hoops competition. First 3 runs Riff was too keen and I wasn’t on the ball! 4th and final run we got it together for a fast win!
Only managed to get to 4 dog competitions ( 3 different disciplines) this year due to every sort of setback 😢. Somehow we managed a 1st and a 2nd in working trials - qualifying wd open and wd ex! A 1st in UKDogsport advanced and this win in hoopers.

Six months after badly breaking my ankle, Riff and I returned to competition. It was lovely to get out and see people again. Winning Advanced level at UKDogsport was the icing on the cake.

Some years ago we did a heelwork to music demonstration at the Animal Health Trust annual Greyhound show. Gus was about 11 at the time and still full of beans.
Sadly the Animal Health Trust is no more. I lost Gus nearly 5 years ago aged 16.

10 years ago Gus and I met Matt Hancock after a few of us had done a musical dog training display in Mildenhall. Gus was a soft, well behaved and gentle 10 year old dog - on a lead. When we were introduced. Hancock looking anxious backed away…. whilst brushing imaginary dog hair off his smart suit.
Here was a man that didn’t like dogs. Maybe he is afraid?
How on earth will he cope with all the bush tucker trials I hope it gets?
He should be working for his west Suffolk constituents- not flying off to Australia. 😡
