Kevin navigating herself round this course.
Happy how she is progressing 🔥 now that she is 19 months we can start progressing to more “adult” training. Learning more sequencing!
Just ignore the naughty dog walk and pole knock ending. 😉
Fun little sequence that Callie smashed. Pushing her independence.
Weave is looking brilliant😊
My flying little Kevin 😊 Showcasing her insane 5 stride dog walk.
I’m introducing loose turns, and getting her used to me running in front of her exit- whilst she learns to maintain her patterned stride.
Making progress with Kevins dog walk. We are aiming for regular short 10 minute sessions to really help with her patterning/ muscle memory.
Regular access to a dog walk is pretty vital for this.
Love her understanding of her own body. Feel she has benefiting from all the awareness games as a puppy!
Happy offer 1/1s for both running and stop contacts! Whatever part of the journey you are on🐶
I reference my skateboard training with Kevin a fair bit so thought i would make a video on it😊 (any excuse to show off my girl!)
Body awareness is an important part of agility but also dog’s development and something i have focused on with my pup.
I wanted to show that you don’t need any fancie equipment or massive space. Just some creativity and effort 😊 this session is just Kevin earning her dinner. Rather then a bowl of food we made a game for her.
Criteria for contacts is so important! Aiming to create value to a 2 on 2 off position- for both the seesaw and if you are doing stop contacts.
Please do your homework 😝📚 📚 📚
* this game can be done on any sort of step! Or shoebox! However if you choose the skateboard path please make sure to stabilise the board (explains the pillows….) I love the slight movement it offers but we Don’t want them getting hurt if it properly rolls.
11 month old Kevin learning some weave entry skills😊 shes too young still to do any proper weaving but we have taken the opportunity to work on distance entries with open channels!
Filmed the whole session. Kept it short - working from different sides using both push and off hand entries.
Some of the stuff we have been up to this week!
Loved this run. Was such a massive win for Callie! She isn’t the easiest dog, mainly due her over enthusiasm😂 dont think any dog loves agility as much as Callie…
Brilliant to see it starting to come together. She is driving fast when we want, and her tight decels in this were perfect. Owners have had to work really hard for this but totally worth it.
Shes still just a baby at 1 😊
Course sequencing is so fun to teach😊 this video has 2 dogs, with 2 different handlers showcasing different ways of doing a sequence. Both of them smashed it out the park.
Video does a great job of showing different ways of doing a different sequence. Theres never 1 correct way to run a course. Needs to be what is suited to yourself and your dog!
Basic exercise I set up for my pup, Kevin as i slowly introduce her to Agility. 😊 at this stage I’m encouraging as much forward drive and enthusiasm as i can. She is running to her favourite toy in the distance to work on that drive.
Kevin is also food motivated which is great- but now I’m also encouraging some tug play. Tug toys can be really useful tools going forward. 😊
Some clips to show the kind of games i have been doing with Kevin! 🐥🐥🐥🐥
Kev is 4 months old, so she is too young to start any agility. However there are plenty foundation games to be learnt!
She has been with me for just over 2 weeks so my main focus has been bonding with her and getting her settled in😊
These training sessions i’m doing with her is focused on ‘shaping’. This is the idea that Kevin had to use problem solving to figure how to get a reward.
🐶 All positive based! 🐶
