Small Animal Practice Langford Vets University of Bristol

Small Animal Practice Langford Vets University of Bristol Langford Vets Small Animal Practice provides veterinary services to pet owners. Students always work under the supervision of our vets and qualified nurses.
(29)

We are a dedicated first opinion small animal practice and maintain the ‘family feel’ for our patients and clients. Our staff have years of experience with pets and as a part of this we have the added advantage of access to the facilities and expertise of the Small Animal Hospital (www.facebook.com/langfordvetssah) who offer a wide variety of specialist services. Our high standard of care is enhan

ced by the good relationship the practice has with the hospital and its consultants. Langford Veterinary Services runs the practice to teach University of Bristol final year veterinary students and student veterinary nurses the skills required in general practice. Consultation times may be slightly longer but in our experience clients enjoy being part of the learning process and being involved in the discussions and decision making with the veterinary students.

As we move fully into the Spring and Summer months you may be moving your rabbits out of their Winter accommodation and letting them explore the garden more. You can help your rabbit by:

🐰 Making sure that their home/run is in an area that is shaded during the hottest part of the day.

🐰Examine runs for any damage and repaired as necessary.

🐰If rabbits have free run of the garden make sure that the boundaries are checked to be positive that there are no areas where escape is possible.

🐰Provide places to hide, in a shaded area, so the rabbits have somewhere to go if scared. Ideally supervise rabbits that have free run of a garden as they are at risk of predators.

🐰 Make sure they have access to water at all times.

🦷How to prevent dental disease 🦷

Daily teeth brushing is the single most effective thing you can do to keep teeth clean and may reduce the frequency or eliminate the need for dentistry procedures. Where daily brushing isn’t possible, brushing several times a week can still be effective. Most pets will accept brushing, but some can be resistant, so patience and training are important.

Daily chewing activities can be effective in maintaining oral health. Using products that have been awarded the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) seal will help keep your pet’s teeth clean and gum tissues and bone around the roots healthy, just watch out for those extra calories!

🦷What is Dental Disease? 🦷

Dental disease starts with an accumulation of bacteria on the surface of teeth which builds up to plaque within only a few hours of last brushing. Undisturbed plaque leads to tartar within days. If bacteria continue to multiply, it can damage the tissues that connect the tooth to the jawbone and the jawbone itself. Once started this can cause irreversible damage.

If you are concerned about your pets dental health please get in contact with us or book your pet in for our FREE dental check in our nurse clinic this February.
