SMALL FLOCK SHEARING 2023

This time of year I get lots of messages asking for people to book in their small flock to be sheared

Unfortunately, I've moved out of the country (again) so will be unable to come and shear myself, I wanted to ensure I had moved before I made the commitment to organising any shearing

My customers across the UK (and Europe!) are amazing, supportive, loyal and very generous - I'm very grateful to you all, I don't know if I'll be back next season, I would like to be but as usual - everything is in pencil until it's in pen

To look after as many people and their small flocks as possible I've arranged for shearers to cover certain areas, all these shearers I know personally, are able to foot trim, health check and could possibly worm/fly treatment if asked in advance

Please treat them with as much care and friendliness as you do to me, they are all lovely people and doing me a big favour as they already have their own busy workloads - please keep this in mind

Another successful trip to The Welsh Reindeer Retreat in Carmarthen. We will be looking for more clients in this area next year so we can keep coming here to enjoy the great hospitality.

Reports of alot of flystrike (maggots) in lambs after the heatwave. Sheared 135 for a client that was plagued with them. Benefits of shearing lambs are that maggots have no where to hide under wool, no more chemicals need to be applied, so still can sell. Been very slack with content but busy with work. Coming to the end now. Still taking bookings and planning for 2nd shear and lambs shearing.
Offer dagging for early tupping and lambs. I find it good for lambs so no maggots creep in. Clean bums = clean sheep.

Got rained off elsewhere today so was able to shear my own little starter flock. Taz great help and my camera lady/wool roller was brilliant. Xx

Great new client, very responsive and helpful. Had sheep in dry since Saturday and in great condition.

Lots of rain this weekend and all week. We don't shear wet sheep, so if you're booked in please keep them dry or reschedule.

Also had a first for me with some popular Dutch spotted ewes. Big pricey ewes but handled with care as standard. Hope they do the job for the clients.
