I just wanted to say another big thank you to Emma of Ki5 Canine Therapy for such a great evening on Tuesday for the The Raw Conversation Community. It was great to see so many people, see some new faces and share some of Emma's huge wealth of knowledge about the musculoskeletal system (I think that's right!) and introduce us to Galan Myotherapy. And of course thank you to the gorgeous Bode, you can definitely come again 😍
I know we only scratched the suface of this huge topic and we hope Emma will be back next year for part 2 😃 but if you can't wait for that, please get in touch with Emma to see what she can do for you and your furmily.
We also hope to see you all at our Christmas Fun Conversation on Tuesday 10th December, please see the page for further details. Seats are limited, so grab your ticket and help us celebrate.
Unfortunately on Tuesday we had a few who reserved tickets but didn't turn up. We know life happens but please, if you are not going to make it, let us know as soon as possible. Pat goes to an incredible amount of effort to organise this and make a mountain of delicious cake for us, there is no profit in these evenings, the ticket price does not even cover the costs and it meant that quite a few people were turned down as we had "sold" out, these people could have come if we knew that others were not coming 🥲
So please have a thought about others and ensure that this can continue. We also had at least two scammers 😱 Please if anyone posts about selling tickets, apart from Wiggins, ignore and report it.
Moan and waffle over, hope to see you on the 10th December for some festive cheer and help us decide on what's coming in 2025 🤩

Thank you to all who joined us last night for the Introduction to Galen Myotherapy and a 'Huge' thank you to Emma for sharing her story along with some massage techniques for us to safely use on our dogs. Emma's impressive depth of information was inspiring and extremely interesting. Everyone I feel went away with something to think on.
Emma has promised some links so those will be added in due course to the RCC page.
A fab night and so chuffed we were all able to get together, learn and share all this amazing information. We look forward to Emma coming back!

Had a wonderful evening last night sharing ideas on how to do our best for sensitive dogs during the firework season.
Also was lovely to share some of the basics of zoopharmacognosy, how our dogs use their innate ability to self select for healing.
I hope this little introduction will give owners some confidence to give it a try.

Reminder that tomorrow is our next Raw Conversation evening.

Please join, we are a wonderful group of dog owners, each with our own individual dogs and all with great stories and information to share.

Tomorrow we shall have an introduction to Self Selection. I hope that showing you the simple techniques on how to help your dog self select, it will give you a little more confidence to try this amazing healing modality.

Please note we shall be having a demonstration so please do not bring your dogs along.

Exciting Upcoming Raw Conversation get together.

Tuesday 12th November from 7pm.

An introduction to Galen Myotherapy.
Pain is something we would rather not see our beloved pets be in but I would say we will have to deal with at some point in our dogs lives and will be amazing to have a better understanding of how this modality can help during times of difficulty.

Looking forward to learning a few techniques to store in my toolbox of health for my dogs.

As always the evening is about getting together socially with people who want to learn about new things, share knowledge, experiences, eat cake and have fun!

Pawkies Delivery has arrived! Had great feedback on these minces. Although pitched as a more economical mince they include single protein minces and mixed protein mixes and are absolutely great quality. They have gone done well with our lot.
A 454g stubby tube or 1lb in old money but still a really great price.
A few more flavors have been added Beef & Tripe 80-10-10, Chicken 80-10-10, Goose & Tripe 80-10-10.
A Chicken 80-20, Turkey 80-20 and Lamb Tripe a firm favorite for us and great for those opting for DIY minces.
Beef Riblets, 7-8 a pack individual rib bones, a great chewing bone but remember beef bones are hard and finally smaller pack of Duck Necks 7-8 in a bag.

Join us for our next Raw Conversation on 15th October where we will dive into the world of Self Selection and Zoopharmacognosy.
Halloween and fireworks are looming with their unexpected noises, objects and visitors, so we thought it was a great time to explore the balancing and healing power of Zoopharmacognosy using essential oils, herbs and self selection.

When learning something new, the practicalities of “how” can be just as important as the “why”. So Pat is going to give us a demonstration on “how” we can get started and the mechanics of "offering" to our dogs, so they can select what they need to help them. Then hopefully we will have time to scratch the surface of the “why” and where you can find out more…we may even get a live demo 🐶 we’ll have to see how everyone/thing feels about that on the night!

Zoopharmacognosy is a fascinating subject and can be a great addition to the compassionate dog owner’s toolkit, it can help our pets (and us) to cope with this thing called life. Behaviour, health and vitality can all be supported and improved with self selection, giving your dog a choice to help heal itself naturally.

We also surmise that dogs and cats also got a little bump of extra beneficial microbes and probably some minerals, too when eating off natural substrates (earth, soil). To fortify the foundational diet of prey/animal proteins, wild foraging carnivores typically seek out small amounts of plant material (roots, barks, fruit/seeds, grasses/herbs, etc) to maintain health; self selecting certain plants at certain times, for energetic, functional & medicinal purposes. Dogs eat decaying things, and will bury meat/bone to ferment further enhancing their nutritional profile and they’ll also eat p**p from herbivores. Cats eat the freshest of everything, and a lot of insects (up to 15% of a wild cat diet in some populations!)

A species appropriate balanced raw food diet should mimic as closely as possible how that animal would have eaten in the wild, before mankind’s intervention. Dogs are scavenger carnivores. Cats are obligate carnivores, having no dietary requirements for carbohydrates. In the wild, these animals ate a balance of meat, fat, bone and organ meat. They also ate fur (insoluble fiber), and some intestinal ingesta (rich in pre and probiotics). And the prey they ate was feeding on their natural diet, not corn or GMO soy feeds.

No species-appropriate dog or cat food should contain corn!

Tonight’s BBC’s Countryfile was talking to farmer Matt, in Camelford right here in Cornwall ❤️ who is leading the way in breeding more worm resistant sheep, as a result of the damage toxic wormers are doing to animals, insects and the whole environment who feed off the toxin laden dung the sheep produce after they are wormed…let alone what they are doing to us in the food chain, the worms are also becoming resistant to these treatments…so the time is absolutely right to question what we are putting in our animals and find a kinder safer solution, for all our sakes.
