Last 6am pack walk of this week. What a lovely time of the day to be out walking before the heat. π₯° It is looking like we may be on earlies next week if this beautifully summer weather continues ππ. I do love a bit of sunshine and early starts despite it being a rubbish time of year for business when it comes to working with dogs. π
I'd also like to mention how well Lola the beautiful weimaraner has settled in with the pack today. She's currently staying on holiday in Laxfield. π₯°

Sadly some of my regular pack members fitness levels are declining due to old age so they are now having to cut back on weekly/daily walks. Also a couple of my regulars will be moving away soon and some are on holiday.
If you enroll your dog now the process of joining a big pack will be much quicker because we can get them used to a smaller group before expanding. Easing them in slowly avoids stress for any newbies and keeps their first experiences nice and positive. This also allows me to apply any extra training that might be needed for a bigger pack at the same time as them being able to start their socialization.
So if you have been wanting to get your dog socialized in a structured way, now is the time to do it!
My Laxfield pack walks are from 12pm-2pm Monday-Fridays. Dogs must be fit and healthy to join. They are also required to have had 1 to 1 time with me first.
I also offer 1 to 1 dog training and walking services. Please contact me via messenger or on 07423706563 for more details.
This is so true. It's actually the complete opposite of laziness. I find myself doing more for less because I have to go round the whole village letting all the dogs out individually. Usually I'd charge a much higher rate for separate garden let outs and 1 to 1 walks even though the length of time with each dog is much shorter. It's still much more time consuming compared to just taking everyone out as a pack at mid-day. But because there's nothing we can do about the weather I still charge anyone that comes in the pack the same pack walk rate . I have the dogs best interested at heart. Also not to forget to mention the 6am walks I do with my own dogs and anyone else in the pack who'd like to join before it gets too hot.

We've had some stunning summer evenings this week!
I can't believe today is the summer solstice. Where has this year gone! π±
Lovely to have a young helper on our pack walk today π₯°. She likes the little fluffy dogs. ππ₯°
Apologies for not replying to people particularly customers on messenger! Messenger is not working properly on my new phone. π I can't even get my business account to load properly. So please Whatsapp me in the meantime. Hopefully I will get it up and running soon.
Thought I'd share what we've been up to as seen as a few of you know my little nervous mutt. ππΎ
Big achievement for my shenzi this bank holiday! We got a 6th and it was her first time competing in obedience!
Now catching up on admin. Sorry everyone for being a bit slow with the replying this weekend. I forgot how much energy you need when it comes to competing with the dogs. π
A pack leader in the making. β€οΈ She said settle and we all listened. π
Happy bank holiday Monday everyone!
We had a lovely energy coming from the pack yesterday. π§
Sorry I've been a bit slack with the post's recently! We've been super duper busy and I've been forgetting to get footage of everyone. I will get there with social media one day. π
I am pleased to say we are back to normal after having the very intense nasty norovirus π€’.
I apologise again to all the last minute cancellations I had to make. But at least we can now go back to normality again.
Pick of at work helping build up confidence and socialization skills with one of his many girlfriends. π€

Reasons why regular off lead pack walks should be a life long investment for your dog;
πΆ Constructive socialisation.
πΆ Great exercise.
πΆ Help improves recall.
πΆ Prevent reactivity and other behavioural issues.
πΆ Will receive loads of unconditional love from their pack leader.
Don't live in Laxfield but would like your dog to join us. Simply drop your dog off with me or come along with your dog for a 2 hour pack walk.
Laxfield pack walks are Mondays - to Fridays 12pm-2pm
Dog's must be fit, healthy and have had at least a couple of 1 to 1 training sessions with an assesment before joining. πΆ
Why I ask people to just ignore my pack when walking past us. Most people don't understand how to read a dog's energy.
I do try my best to get out the way I understand we take up a lot of space. π But it's amazing the amount of people who try to bend down and put their hand out to us whilst giving eye contact to the dog's. π
Always let a dog come to you. π
You can invite the dog over. If they don't come to you they want to be left alone.βοΈ
Don't reach out your hand to a scared dog.ππ« That will usually make the dog more uncomfortable and can lead to getting bitten.
Let's hope today is a better day. π π§οΈ

βπΆβ Hello pet parents! βπΆβ
I have the 9:45am to 11:45am slots available on the 6th, 13th and 20th of march for private dog whispering, walks or assessments for any future pack walks.
This is an ideal opportunity to book in for some one offs and get your name down in my diary for future date's. ;) Because I seem to be getting booked up fast. πΆ
Pick of my angel dog at work for attention. πΆπ₯π¬πΆπ
This is what happens when you raise your daughter around dogs. I say "sit" to Zen and Sakura then sits as well. She also asked if she could have a treat because she's a good girl. πππ
This also applies to dog training. He speaks so much sense.
I often say horsemanship and dog training is similar. I've actually applied more horsemanship type methods to some of my clients dog's that lean towards the anxious side.
I am also looking to evolve my skills and keep an open mind. We are all learning together. π
Found some old pack photos from 2012 this show's how long I've been in the job. Where on earth has the time gone. π± Sadly all they's beautiful souls have now crossed the rainbow bridge ππΆ apart from little Nelly. π
It's amazing looking back on how it all started. I was only 11 when I had my first experience working with dogs and it was learning about gun-dog training from one of the Laxfield locals who is now also πΌπ. Along with being given a big pile of videos with the dog whisperer on.
Sun's out which means group photo time. ππΆ
I can't believe it was 4 years ago when Zen decided to walk into my life. π
It's amazing how the universe manages to match us up with the perfect dog. πβπ¦Ί
It was because I was walking a big pack of dogs that was made up of several other GSDs I got talking to his breeder. He then showed me 2 gorgeous pups and that was it. I just had to have one! ππ₯Ί
The best impulsive buy ever! π
Silly me lost someone's lead during a session before the pack walk π. So to put our abilities to the test I decided to walk out and look for it whilst this lot do a stay. They were all so good apart from the distance being a bit too much for little floss. So instead of putting too much pressure on her and making her fail I decided to just carry her. π€

off lead and out in nature running as a pack is one of the best forms of enrichment you could give your dog. πππ
The Frenchies are coming along nicely β€οΈ.
Both Bella and Elsie have a history of reactivity towards other dogs. This is caused by Bella being in an anxious state of mind during walks. For those of you who know about polyvagal theory, she was running off her sympathetic nervous system causing her body to go into flight or fight moad with some forms of shutdown type behaviours. As a result Elsie would pick up on this energy and feel the need to protect Bella by reacting to anything that might be a threat to Bella.
By establishing myself as a calm trustworthy pack leader and helping their owner do the same we have managed to gain their focus and keep them in a relaxed mindset. π§π So we are now able to up the game and expose them to more distractions. π
Lovely week back off lead and across the fields now that everywhere has dried up... Well slightly π.
I've been lacking in the updates recently because we've been doing so much road walking in awful weather βοΈ.
Today was a pack run because it was so blooming cold π₯Άπ. At least the dog's enjoyed themselves! Actually a pack run is a great way to motivate everyone and realise any extra energy. πππππ
Our last pack walk of 2023!
Not the best group photo because there were some other off lead dog's running around and barking back along the path. π So I wanted to make sure the pack got rewarded for staying focused on me, which they did incredibly well! β€οΈ
What a busy year it has been! Filled with pack walks, dog whispering and one to ones. πππ
Happy new year everyone π₯π.
Looks like father Christmas is covering my work whilst I have a couple of days off.
It appears he's a natural when it comes to exercising a pack. Everyone looks so calm and content despite being a pack of high energy breeds. πππππππ€£π€£π€£
Merry Christmas everyone. π

Trust, connection and respect = follower mode. A question I get asked a lot is "why do all the dogs spend most of their walk behind you?" My answer to this is because I have earned their trust as their pack leader and the leader leads the way. πΆ Of course they still have time running around and playing during a walk but whilst we are just walking we are relaxed and we all stay together because safety is in numbers when you are a social mammal.πΆ The energy you get from a pack done correctly is truly amazing. β₯οΈπΆπ§
We are on short walks and garden let outs today ππ so sorry I haven't really captured any dogs because it's all been a bit boring. I also forgot to get any footage of this morning's 6am pack walk. But here's a video of me training my stunning boy the other day. I've known him to track up and extend his trot even more than this. But it was rather warm and the grass is too long π. He's a good example of why I keep badgering all my clients I have for training to play with a their dogs! π I know you're not intending on training your dogs to do fancy heelwork but the play can really get your dog motivated to do anything! From my own personal experience it's the dogs that are toy motivated are the dogs that have the strongest recall. The play is also a great way to burn off energy quickly. ;) When my dogs are really hooked onto the toy you can forget any fancy treats. Even roast chicken! Yes Shenzi will spit roast chicken out if she's in the mood to play! Remember don't play with your dogs whilst wearing shorts. Lol don't do what I do π yes the big scratch I currently have on my leg everyone keeps asking about was done by my big shepherd while I was getting him fired up. So the scratch is 100% my fault. π€£π

Some footage of how amazing the reactive frenchies are doing. π Roo the Italian greyhound who was also reactive has come on so well! π We are now able to do work with him and the Frenchies at the same time. We have also been doing a few with mini off lead socialising walks with my Shenzi. πΆ When we very first started walking the Frenchies we couldn't even walk them together on a lead let alone off lead. And now here they are going for long off lead walks and training with other dogs. π We're getting closer and closer to our goals of taking them out for pack walks.

The yawn and what it can mean. Some of my clients were under the impression it is a stress indicator. While this is kind of true it's also not. Because the yawn comes after the dog has felt stress. It actually means the dog is letting go of any tension after feeling serton levels of mental pressure. Horse's will also do this as shown in the video. Although this comes after pressure it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Knowing the animal is letting go is a great sign because it shows they are regulating themselves and are begging to go back to relaxation. Because no matter what life you lead we are all going to experience some forms of stress and holding onto it will only create more tension and cause other problems. Having a good shake and rolling is also another way of letting go to an animal. #dogwhisperer #horsewhisperer #dogbehaviourist #horsemanship #relaxation #energy #animals #polyvagaltheory

Whilst it's been so wet and muddy we've been doing less field walks and more road walking. This is great mental stimulation but it isn't as fun as our off lead pack walks across the countryside. So too encourage everyone to want to stay connected and in follower moad without being able to reward with off lead play time. I've added in a little game by getting the pack to match my energy and speed. It appears running is their favourite pace. Looks like I'm gonna be super fit by the time winter is over. πͺπ
How adorable is this! ππΆπ΄ Daisy my miniature Shetland engaging with Bella the Frenchie. Bella and Elsie are one of my private customers I have for walks and dog whispering sessions. Both of them are known to be reactive and anxious even with horse's π. Since walking them I have been working on keeping their minds in following mode while out and about. This in itself has been enough to prevent reactivity and keep their minds calm and encourage curiosity instead of anxious energy. Because of this Bella has been able to make friends with Daisy and avoid going into fight or flight moad. Reactive behaviours are just a symptom of lots of other little problems. For example, πΆ Lack of leadership from owners. πΆ Owners are giving off anxious energy. πΆ Not enough physical and mental stimulation. πΆ The dog hasn't spent enough time in following mode out on walks. πΆ Bad experiences with socializing. πΆ Underlying health issues. So instead of focusing on the reactivity itself, focus on creating calm leadership energy within yourself and make sure all your dog's needs are met. You might then find your dog is no longer reactive. π
Well this week's pack walks have been rather wet, muddy and smelly so here's a video from a couple of weeks back when we had the lovely sunshine. ππΆ
Having fun conditioning the pack to the whistle. Like any training tool we need to make sure the dog understands what it means before we actually use the tool in a real life setting. I have decided to add the whistle to my tool box because Elsie's owner very kindly gave me one to use out on pack walks because he's trained her to respond to it nicely. I'm no expert in whistle training because I've only ever used my voice and body language for commands. But the principles of training a dog to respond to it is exactly the same as training them to respond to the voice. In an Ideal world I'd break it down and work with each dog individually with the whistle to begin with. But this would take all day and I don't have all day. So I'm using Elsie who already responds to it to help the pack understand. First we want to get their attention. I'm doing this by recalling Elsie back with the whistle and rewarding her first. The pack see her respond and so they all copy. I then mark this with a "yes" followed by a treat. A few key pointers on making this affective; πΆ Only use the whistle if you know you're dog is going to respond to it. πΆ If you make the mistake of using it when the dog is unresponsive don't blow on it again. Find a different way to get your dog's attention without them being able to ignore you. πΆ Make sure there's little distractions when you first start off. You need your dog to be able to be focused whenever you are teaching them a new skill. πΆ Mark and reward the moment you get their focus. Basically don't set your dog up to fail ;) πΆ
