Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my beautiful boy Alfie. He came into my life as a stray so I never knew his history or age but he's given me 16 years of unconditional love. Grief is such a horrible feeling and I'm missing him so much, sleep tight Alfie 🩵

Remember that fireworks can spook our furry friends so lock cat flaps where possible, provide a hide/safe space and pop on the radio.

Unfortunately I will be stopping my cat sitting as of May 2024. I will honour any bookings already taken after this date and will be working as normal until then. It's been a difficult decision but I need some time to concentrate on my studies. A message has been sent to all my regular clients today. Thank you for your continued support over the last 3.5 years 🤗🐈🐾

A big welcome to newbies Lexi, Cali and Kai ❤️

I had the pleasure of looking after these fluff balls for a few days recently. Lexi followed me around and loved lots of attention, Cali curled up on my lap as soon as I sat down and nervous boy Kai mainly stayed hidden away, but did come to see what all the fuss was about eventually!

I also had the pleasure of looking after these handsome senior gents just before my holiday.

Burgs is a sweet boy who is used to a busy household, he likes to have lots of company and fuss at his visits. He also has the radio left on so that he has some background noise when his humans aren't there. On these visits he was particularly keen on lounging on his cardboard box 💙

Newbie Socks kept me on my toes by only being present for one of my visits. It's always unnerving when you are visiting a home each day and the cat isn't there! On my last visit he finally made an appearance and enjoyed some chin scratches. Good boy Socks ❤️

I'm safely back home although my brain is still in a different time zone 😵‍💫
I will get back to all enquiries tomorrow and look forward to starting my sits again later today.

Here's beautiful girl Mia whom I looked after for 2 weeks just before I went away. Mia was struggling with losing here sibling recently so needed lots of one on one time and company. She also had a bout of cystitis which is common in a stressed cat. I ensured that she had lots of tlc and the medication she required to keep her comfortable. We became best of friends and I was lucky enough to get lap cuddles from her. See you soon Mia 💖

I've had a cancellation for the next two weeks so do now have availability for any last minute trips ☀️🐈

Can I just remind people that I am only a very small business and last minute cancellations impact me greatly. I understand that plans change and I try to be as flexible as possible but in the last 2 weeks I've had £208 worth of last minute cancellations.

This is during my busiest period when I've turned many people away so it's very annoying. I just want to add that these cancellations have been by new clients....not my regulars who are very good at keeping me informed if plans change.

If this continues to happen I see no other option but to start charging a deposit, something that I don't really want to do.

Just finished a week looking after this duo. They were both always at the door waiting for me and enjoyed some playtime and treats at each visit. Lilly even sat on my lap a few times so I think we are friends 😻

Back with Tiggy, Squirrel, Chase and Fluffy last week. Always a pleasure to look after these guys. Tiggy is obsessed with food and watches my treat bag very closely. Squirrel is far more laid back deciding it's a much better idea chilling instead. Fluffy and Chase make me giggle with their excited dances every time they get put in their run area 🐖🐖🐈🐈

I will have very limited WiFi or phone coverage (road tripping through the Canadian Rockies) so will be delays in my response to enquiries.

I covered a couple of visits to see Tink & Oreo recently.
Tink is diabetic and requires twice daily injections of insulin and close monitoring. A fellow cat sitter (and vet nurse) asked me to help as Tink doesn't enjoy her injections and will let you know about it. Needing an experienced cat sitter to ensure she receives the insulin to keep her well. She was very well behaved on both of my visits and with a little bribery she didn't even notice her injections. Oreo was an absolute darling too and enjoyed lots of cuddles 😻

This is exactly why I set up The Purring Cat.....to allow owners to go on holiday knowing that their cat is looked after by a suitably qualified person 🐾👩‍⚕️

He's a British Blue and so very handsome! Such a sweet, gentle boy with the cutest meow. He had so much fun playing with toys, exploring the garden and hiding in cardboard boxes. I just love his cute face and big eyes 💙🐾

Back with Cassie & Tallulah last week 😻
Cassie is an older girl who requires daily medication and a little more TLC, she's a very good patient. Tallulah is very chatty and fussy and lets me know that she requires constant food and treats. Beautiful girls ❤️

I was back with this cuddly pair recently and we had so much fun! Albert enjoys lots of fuss and being brushed to keep his beautiful coat looking it's best. Audrey is a whirlwind of energy and likes lots of playtime and activities to keep her mind active. I love them both 😻

Welcome to the Purring Cat group Kiki!
Kiki's human contacted me earlier in the year concerned that she'd been unable to go away or leave Kiki since the loss of her sibling. Kiki is incredibly bonded to her owner and nervous to do everyday things alone. After exchanging emails with things we can do to help her feel more settled/reduce stress the week arrived for me to look after her. I wasn't sure how she was going to act, the last thing I want is for my cat sits to feel stressed or unhappy.
She initially hid away in her 'safe space' but I just sat with her talking gently letting her interact as much or as little as she felt able. Gradually each day she interacted more and by the last few days she was sitting on my lap 😊

Every cat is different which is why I let my cat sits decide how much interaction they would like. I'm always happy to advise on things that can be done to help your cat feel more settled.
