Every dog has its day and its own unique way to regulating emotions! 🐕
Whether it’s through a sudden bout of zoomies, a session of rough and tumble play, or the calm solitude of sniffing around their favorite spots.
Even the simple joys of suckling or chewing on their favorite toy. Each of these behaviors is a form of emotional regulation, and all can be used at different times.
Understanding their emotional cues can help us better cater to their needs and provide an environment where they feel safe to express these behaviours to help regulate your dog.
Rainy days can't stop us!
Instead of a long walk, Lyka and I switched to some fun indoor training.
Even incorporated an umbrella for a bit of a twist!

Check out Phoebe's whistle training! 🐾
She's been working hard on her recall and it's starting to pay off.
Despite the typical beagle trait of being easily distracted by scents, Phoebe is mastering her whistle recall.
Way to go, Phoebe! 🎉

Struggling with your dog's lead walking training? Try this simple exercise:
1. Start by holding your lead at your belly button and walk backwards slowly.
2. Reinforce your dog for following you.
3. Gradually walk further backwards, then sideways, and finally forward, always reinforcing your dog for walking nicely with you.
Practice this regularly and you'll see improvements in no time. DM us if you want to work on your dog's lead walking. 🐶🚶♂️
Here's a quick and easy enrichment activity for your dog!
All you need is a towel and some leftover ham. 🐶
Just sprinkle the ham on the towel, roll it up, tie it in a knot, and let your dog have at it!
It provides 15mins of sniffing enrichment and you can adjust the difficulty level to suit your dog's needs by making the knot tighter or not having one at all. Try it out! #DogEnrichment
What is the best recall word??🐾
"Here"
"close"
"back"
"close"
"recall"
"rewind"
"accio"
"sausage".
There are many common recall words that you can use with your dog to get them to come back to you. But simply it doesn't matter which word you do use. As long as you teach your dog how to come back to you when they hear that word.
What recall word do you use?

Sometimes it's easy to start training something new and use treats to encourage your dog. But you can give them just one or two treats when they do it right, so you don't overfeed your dog with treats.
But here's the thing: even if your dog has mastered the skill, it's still a new behavior that needs reinforcement to fully develop in different situations. 🐾
🔑 So, don't limit the treats to just a few!
If you want your dog to be able to perform a new behavior in various situations without treats, you first need to start with plenty of treats. This will create a strong reinforcement history with this new behavior, making it more permanent.

Shredding is a completely natural behavior for our dogs? 🐶
That's why they absolutely love ripping up their toys! It's their way of releasing energy and finding comfort.
Instead of trying to stop them, why not provide them with appropriate chewing opportunities? Let them indulge in this natural behavior while keeping your favorite slippers and belongings safe! 😄
Remember, most dog toys are designed to look like small fluffy animals that dogs would naturally want to eat in the wild. 🐰🦊 So it's no wonder they're irresistibly drawn to them! Chewing and ripping things apart is a behavior that many dogs engage in to calm themselves, relieve stress, and enrich their lives. It's a fantastic energy-releasing activity that many truly enjoy!
By giving your dog plenty of chew toys and other suitable outlets for their chewing instincts, you're not only providing them with mental stimulation and entertainment, but you're also preventing them from resorting to destructive chewing habits. So, next time you catch your dog happily shredding their toy, remember that it's a perfectly normal and healthy behavior for them.
So, embrace your dog’s natural instincts and encourage them to chew on appropriate items. Your dog will thank you, and your favorite possessions will stay intact! 🐾💕

Does your dog get distracted by everything around them? You're not alone! Teaching your dog to ignore distractions is a common challenge for many dog owners, but don't worry, it's definitely achievable.
Take Lyka, for example. For her, crows are a big distraction causing her to lunge and try to chase after them. But with consistent training, she's now able to calmly watch them and listen to cues even when they're just a few meters away.
Being clear about what you want your dog to do and reinforcing their attempts at good behavior, even if they're not perfect yet. For Lyka, this meant looking at the crow and then looking back at her owner, staying calm and focused.
With patience and practice, Lyka has gotten much better at ignoring crows and listening to commands, making walks much more enjoyable for both of us.
So if you're struggling with a distracted dog, don't give up! You can also message me if you need help teaching your dog to ignore distractions 🐾🐕 #dogtraining #distractiontraining #petbehavior #trainingtips

Are you struggling to start your dogs recall training?Don't worry, we've got a training exercise for you to try out!
First, put your dog on a lead, call their name, and encourage them to come towards you.
Reward them with a treat or praise when they do. Repeat this process until your dog comes to you every time you try to walk away.
Then, add a new recall cue like 'here' or 'recall' and keep practicing.
Consistency is key! It may take time for your dog to learn, but with patience and practice, they'll get the hang of it. Soon enough, your dog will come running every time you call them.

Training your dog isn't easy to start!
You make lots of mistakes and so will your dog 🐕
Your dog won't understand what you are trying to get them to do.
But you have to get over the times that you suck at it. To get to the times your good at it 🐶
🐶 Is it a struggle to recall your dog when there are distractions around? Do they seem to ignore you as soon as they see another dog or bird? Even if you've worked hard on their recall, it can be frustrating when they just won't come back to you.
But don't give up hope just yet! You can try working on their disengagement training. This involves teaching your dog to take their attention off one thing and pay attention to you.
Here's how it works: Start by training your dog in a quiet, low-distraction environment. Use a treat or a toy to get their attention, then quickly turn away from them. When your dog comes over to investigate, reward them with the treat or toy. Repeat this several times.
Once they've got the hang of it, try introducing more distractions. You can start by having someone walk by with a dog at a distance. When your dog gets distracted, use the same technique to get their attention back on you. As they get better, you can increase the level of distraction until you're able to recall your dog even in busy environments.
With disengagement training, you'll be able to enjoy walks with your dog without worrying about them running off.

🐾 Want to make your dog's recall training even better and easier?
Recall training can be tricky, but here are a few things that will help set you up for success.
Just went on a walk with Lyka and tried out some new training techniques! Adapting skills she already knows and trying new ways to train is a great way to build new skills with your dog and improve their listening skills.
Plus, it's a lot of fun!

🐶 Did you know that puppies pulling on their lead is a very common thing? It's not because they're trying to assert dominance by being in front of you, but rather because they're full of excitement and optimism about everything around them. As they go for their first few walks, they'll want to investigate everything too which, coupled with their low self-control, leads to them pulling around.
But don't worry! When you're teaching your puppy not to pull on the lead, one of the main areas you should also be working on is teaching self-control so they're not lunging out and pulling to get to everything they see.
Check out little Alby here, walking around lots of random things on the floor as his owners work on his self-control. 🐾🐾

If you're struggling to desensitize your dog, you're not alone! It can be a challenging process, but there are small opportunities you can take to help your dog succeed in their training.
By giving them the chance to practice in real-life scenarios, even for a short period of time, you'll help build their confidence and make the training process more enjoyable for both you and your dog.
The simplest way to do this is by watching distractions from a distance and rewarding your dog for noticing them but not reacting. You can quickly teach your dog to ignore many distractions.
