It’s an (almost!) dual celebration tonight as we celebrate Minnie’s ‘adoptiversary’ and birthday all rolled into one! 🎂🥳

Little panthress Minnie arrived in care with another cat originally, sadly though they didn’t get along but once they went their separate ways and had their own space they were much happier! Minnie’s adopter sent a gorgeous update (her true ‘purrsonality’ had come out now and she always comes running to welcome her new family when they come home! 🥰) and photos which we thought you might like to see! ❤

Here’s what it said:

‘Hi Cats Protection!

It’s been a while, but I thought I would give you our almost yearly update on Minnie. She’s doing wonderfully still, and rules the house with her big eyes and sassy ways. ❤️ Her personality has come out a lot over the last 6 months, she’s cheeky, playful, and loving in her own way. She isn’t a fan of the window cleaner or the hoover, and she’s always waiting by the door when we come home.

She loves a good stroke behind her ears and under her chin, but you’ll know about it if you try anywhere else on her body. 🙈😂 She’s started to climb onto our knees when she wants some love so the trust is continuing to build. 👫

We honestly can’t imagine life without her now, she’s a massive part of our family, and everyone asks about her. I think my mum and stepdad dropped a few bits off at the shelter a few months ago and you guys remembered her.

Anyway, I’ll attach some photos, according to her paperwork she’s almost two so we’ll be celebrating on Friday with an extra couple of dreamies for her.

Thank you again for everything in the past, she’s wonderful and everything we could ever have dreamed of.

Minnie’s Family

Xx”

Thank you to Minnie’s family for this lovely update it made us laugh and tear up all in the space of a few seconds. 💝 Although she has her quirks, it’s clear to us that she’s absolutely found the people she was always looking for and is a very happy girl indeed. Thank you for taking a chance on her. 🖤

🐾 If you adopted a cat from us and would like to see them featured on our page one Monday evening - please either send a message to our page with a few of your favourite photos and a short update about how they’ve been getting on - or you can email us at [email protected]

We can’t wait to read them! 🐱 Thank you! 🙏

Senior cats struggle the most with big life changes and the cattery environment itself, especially if they’ve lived with their owner from a kitten. 😢 Often all they need is a loving home, tasty meals and plenty of cuddles to be incredibly content.

If you could offer one of our more mature moggies a second chance at happiness please apply to adopt them via the links below. With a range of fur colours, personalities and ages there really is a feline for everyone. ♥️

🐾 Storm has been waiting patiently for 137 days for someone to choose her - she can take a little time to warm up to new people but she promises once she loves you - she’ll be your loyal friend for a life time (and keep your lap toasty warm!) ♥️: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=35047

🐾 Stunning grey and white girl Sparky is 12 years old and loves to curl up on your knee for cuddles: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=39995

🐾 Oreo and Cinders are incredibly close and must be kept together. Oreo is 15 years old and Cinders is 6 - they’re both black and white and very friendly, loving ladies who need someone to take a chance on them. They’ll bring such a lot of love and happiness to a new family: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=37745

🐾 Sophia has stunning green eyes and a tortoiseshell coat. She enjoys head rubs and being brushed, she enjoys sitting next to you but never climbs up onto your knee, so would be ideal for someone looking for companionship but not necessarily a lapcat. 🧡: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=31695

🐾 Wallace loved his owner for 13 years, when they passed away he was devastated. He has previously lived with other animals and is hoping he gets his second chance at a loving home very soon. His stunning black coat is velvety soft 🖤: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=39996

🐾 Midnight (as you might be able to tell from her photo) is a confident, friendly girl with distinctive jet black fur. She is 10 years old and was previously abandoned and now sadly doesn’t have many teeth left - but this doesn’t stop her tucking into every meal joyfully: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=40274

🐾 10 year old Sunbeam has a soft black and white coat and enjoys being stroked. She has previously lived with another cat so may be able to again with careful introductions: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=40276

🐾 At 9 years old, Purdy is one of our youngest seniors - as you can see she’s a beautiful tortie lady with a lot of love to offer. She just needs someone patient who’s willing to give her some time to settle: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=38594

Little Po is really struggling. 😢 He’s only 2 years old and is feeling very shy and worried in the cattery. He’s trying his best to be brave but all the unfamiliar noises and smells mean he feels happiest in his fort. It seems to make him feel safest. ♥️

We’ve noticed once he’s met a staff member or volunteer a few times he recognises their voice and his face visibly relaxes - so we’re hopeful that once he was settled in a home, his adopters would feel familiar to him and it would help him to realise he’s safe and loved. 🖤🤍

We think he would be best suited to a quiet home with maybe a single adult, or couple who could become Po’s people and who he could build a lasting bond with.

🐱 Could you offer Po his second chance at happiness? Please apply to adopt him today.

🐾 Please complete Po’s application form and a member of the team will be in touch with successful applicants to arrange a meeting: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=39999

Thank you 🙏

Here’s a one of a kind update from one of our feline residents themselves who left us two years ago to embark on their happurrily ever after - this is definitely true for little Cookie! ♥️

Here’s a few words from the special lady herself 🖤:

“Hello to everyone at Leeds Cat Centre, on the 31st of December we celebrated 2 years passing since I went to my forever home. This was such an important occasion that the whole world joined together and even displayed fireworks in my honor!

When I first arrived in my new castle, I thoroughly inspected my new domain and found lots of new exciting smells. It didn't take long for me to settle and I immediately let my new pawrents see my playful side (which allegedly came as a surprise to them). Playing can be quite tiring so soon enough I decided to sit upon my throne (AKA my parents' laps) for a nap. It took a little while for my parents to confirm that I can't hear anything, but since finding out they've adapted to approaching me in ways that make me feel less anxious (at least fireworks will never bother me!)

Since then, I have spent lots of time assisting my adopter with his job (I keep the mouse under control!), watching all the birds outside the window, and have taken enough naps that Garfield himself would be jealous. I have seen snow (I'm not a fan), rain (also not a fan), and other cats that come to visit at the window (also not a fan- go home, peasants!). I have been training my humans in the correct way to prepare my food- everything must be in small bite-sized chunks (why must I have to break apart my own fish?).

I've been taken out for walks and have enjoyed the great outdoors (still not sure what's so great about it but my humans get very excited and take lots of pictures whenever we go outside together). I much prefer staying in and eating snacks. My favorite snacks are dreamies, anything fishy, and any charging cable that has accidentally been left out. I don't like all snacks, however, and when my parents had the audacity to try and give me a little bit of sausage as a Christmas treat, I decided to show them how ridiculous this was by batting it around the room.

I am very happy here and am therefore grateful to all of you who helped get me here. From those who sat with me when I wanted some fuss, gave me all my meds to get my skin looking perfect once more, or those who cleaned up the water I always managed to spill in my pen- I thank you all.

I look forward to telling you more of my exciting adventures and hope that you can help lots of other cats like me find their forever homes in 2025.

Best fishes, Cookie”

Thank you so much for this eloquent update ♥️ - so lovely to hear how well you’ve been getting on and we can’t wait for the next sweet instalment from Cookie!

3 year old Clipper loves to be as close as possible to you. He likes to curl up on your knee and purr as you brush his soft ginger coat🧡 or give him plenty of cuddles.

He’s an extremely affectionate, loving boy who’ll be sure to bring a lot of joy to whichever family is lucky enough to adopt him. Clipper would thrive in a home where he’ll get lots of love and attention.

He’s genuinely, a ginger gentleman in a million with a loyal, gentle nature. Sometimes he even likes to hold your hand to show you how special you are to him. ♥️

Clipper has stage 2 kidney disease which doesn’t currently require medication - but he does need a renal diet which the team could advise a potential adopter of.

🐾 If you could offer Clipper a second chance of happiness please apply to adopt him today: https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=38375

🐾 Find out more about the home he hopes to find on our website: https://www.cats.org.uk/leeds -38375

🐾 There’s more information about renal disease in cats on the Cats Protection website:https://www.cats.org.uk/media/1035/vg06_kidney_or_renal_disease.pdf

Even if you’re not looking for a cat today, please share Clipper’s post to bring him a few fluffy steps closer to a forever family.

Thank you 🙏

Today we said farewell to a wonderful lady and very special member of the Cats Protection family, Lis. Lis worked tirelessly and always selflessly, in various different capacities to support cats and kittens in Yorkshire to thrive.
She helped countless cats to find new families and gave them the chance to feel truly cherished.

♥️The sea of cats protection uniforms at your funeral today showed just how much you contributed and were valued. We never got chance to thank you for all you did, Lis but your legacy will live on at Leeds Cat Centre and in the hearts of all the cats and kittens you supported. Such a big thank you from all of us 🙏

Patches and Pippa came to us when their first owner sadly passed away. Happily, a new family fell in love with their gentle personalities and look how happy they are now! 🧡🤎 Here are a few photos of them snuggling with their new family, spending times together and of course plenty of snoozing on the laps of their favourite humans. ❤️

Their adopter told us, “Pippa & Patches are really settled and enjoying life in our home.”

Thank you to their new family for sharing these gorgeous photos and letting us know how they’ve been getting on since going home. After they were quite shy initially in the cattery it’s lovely to see the change in them and how content they look now! ❤️

🏡 URGENT Farm or Rural Homes Needed 🏡

Do you know anyone? Maybe you have an equestrian friend? 🐴

Many cats are so much happier in a rural home such as stables, farm or small holding 🏡🌳 where they can come and go at their own free will. Most will happily help with some rodent control at their new home🐀 in exchange for regular meals and care. The caretaker will take responsibility for the welfare of the cat, including veterinary care if required. The caretaker will also need a secure stable/barn/outbuilding in which the cat will have to be kept for a minimum of four weeks in order to readjust to their new environment (this is a must to ensure the cat doesn’t flee through fear or panic which can be detrimental to a cat who is in an unfamiliar environment)

All cats who are homed to an outdoor placement will be neutered & will have been treated for fleas & worms.

Please share, particularly those who have contacts with stables/allotments/small holdings.

If you, or someone you know can offer a safe outdoor haven, then please contact the team via DM or by emailing Liz at [email protected]

Thank you 🙏

We’ve almost run out of mice! 😢 If you’re a keen knitter - making some more would really help our cats feel at home. 🥰 Although all our cats are so excited to be chosen, going in a cat carrier and setting off with their new family can be a little daunting for some, so we like to send them off with a familiar scent and toy. ♥️

One way we do this is with one of the knitted catnip mice that our kind supporters make for us.

If you have some at home, or enjoy knitting and might be able to make some for our cats it would be incredibly appreciated please. 🥰 If knitting isn’t really your thing but you enjoy creative projects - our cats would love to see your catnip creations and feature them on our page! Some people even make them out of socks!

🐾 For anyone who might be able to help, here’s a little more information about the mice and the knitting pattern:https://www.cats.org.uk/media/2410/cp_captain_cat_battler_lo-res_final.pdf

⬆️ These guidelines mention the original blue and yellow colours of our branding. Our new colours are a lovely purple and white but any colours would make such a difference to our cats. 🐱

If you have any questions, please let us know!

Thank you 🙏

‘Purrdy’ likes to spend her days curled up with her favourite humans with her head gently resting on their arm as her most trusted pillow. ♥️

She’s very much a ‘people purrson’ and you can chat to her like a close friend from the get go. 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 She’ll listen intently with her pretty eyes watching you and respond with the odd reassuring chirrup and miaow to let you know she’s still listening! 🧡

Purdy is 9 years old and sadly had to come in to care due to her owners ill health. 😢 She’s used to being a loyal companion and can’t wait until it’s her turn to be chosen.

🐱 All she asks for is plenty of cuddles and soft strokes and in return she’ll give you so much love and an ever-willing listening ear.

Purdy is looking for a home where she’s the only pet, we also think she’d be fine with older children. She love access to a garden or safe outdoor space to potter around in when the weather improves! ☀️

Could Purdy be the purrfect addition to your family?

🐾 Please apply to adopt her today, we have a feeling her tortoiseshell good looks might make her very popular so be quick! ♥️ : https://www.cats.org.uk/findacatform/?b=420&ncid=38594

Thank you 🙏
