Botcheston Village

Botcheston Village Botcheston an attractive rural English village seven miles from Leicester, in the heart of England and part of the National Forest.

English Village; Botcheston does not appear in the Domesday survey simply because it didn't exist. It is now part of the Desford parish however, prior to 1936 was always part of the Ratby Parish. Massing 500 acres with just 37 people in 1846, now housing around 200. The hub, being the Village Hall due to the fact there is no church in Botcheston but there is a small quaint village park recently

re-furbished with new euipment. There was once an industrial school built for boys. Industrial Schools were intended to help those children who were destitute but who had not as yet committed any serious crime. It closed in 1931 due to creating population problems in the village at the time accommodating around 200 children. There is a Public house (1863 first known date) serving traditional ales and food, a private golf club, equestrian, and local village walks with approved right of way for public. Thornton Reservoir is minutes away with Bradgate Park just a little further.
