Happy New year to you all πŸŽ‰πŸ₯‚πŸ¦„

Please remember that while I do still use this page, I do not monitor it regularly, especially messages. If you wish to contact me, please do so though my other page, Charlie's Equine Services and Horsemanship

I am still not taking on new clients (or any I haven't seen in the last 18 months) current booking is January is about 80% booked. And please please please make sure horses have been well bathed a day or two before clipping (not then turned out to get dirty again!) And not on the day as they will not dry!

Clipping season is very much upon us!
I am currently fully booked up to mid November, and I am unable to take on any new clients (I must have clipped for you in the last 12 months).
Please plan ahead and please remember horses need washing before clipping as grooming alone will not remove grease.

For the most upto date booking (and probably a quicker reply to messages) make sure you follow my main page Charlie's Equine Services and Horsemanship

A lovely makeover for young Tom.

Who doesn't love a makeover clip!

Young Tom had his Spring clip this week over winter he had wintered out and grown the most spectacular beard now freshly trimmed he looks a new man.

I can do tidy up trim ups if you are finding your furry friend is looking a little more furry and wild than you would like.

Tom was clipped using the black beauty clippers and Harmony Plus clippers.

I always struggle to know how to charge people and what it to be affordable to many people as possible.

I have seen this post before I don't know where it originated from but it is such a good post.

I know for somethings I am not the cheapest but it takes years to gain experience it takes time and money to build up the equipment and tools required it also cost money to keep eveything maintained and in good order so I always have what I need available. I do also work with the less easy horse often getting them to the point they are a much easy horse to things with. It can be quite frustrating when people then go and find a cheaper option.

You might find someone cheaper to clip your horse or load your horse or you might watch YouTube and try yourself but in the long run it could work out more expensive.

Next time someone charges you for something think about what has gone into that cost. If you really want them to do it you will appreciate their worth and not just shop around for the cheaper options.

Current clipping available (and other appointments).
November has a few odd spaces, Dec is probably around 75% full Jan has good availability but is rapidly booking up especially the beginning.
Please make sure you get your horses booked in for their next clips (or even first). I am still limiting clipping numbers to some degree.

I do specialise in the less easy horse to clip (please look at Charlie's Equine Services and Horsemanship for more information) and I also am happy to work with vets for those that require sedation. I can often tie in with dental visits to save on sedation.

Well what a week 22 horses clipped this week. (and yes I am doing less because of my arm injury last year). Fitted in a few lessons and GW sessions too
This is a selection of some of my now less hairy friends from this week. Do send any pictures of horses I have clipped as I am rubbish at getting pictures. I have a few videos to post too.
So far this year the full (both hunter and full full as I call it) and chaser clip are proving most popular with blanket clips in 3rd.

**Clipping notice***

It is getting to that time of year. Horse and ponies are sprouting and growing hair at an alarming rate (and will continue to do so until Christmas now, don't worry that's only 4 months away!).

I will be very booked up for October and November and probably December too do book in early to avoid a long wait
This year I will be doing less clipping than previous years. I am doing more intelligent horsemanship work and teaching work and I can't fit it all in. I will only be taking on a limited number of new clients.

I am trying to mitigate against rising costs by doing calls in the same area or on the same yard on the same day, this may increase your wait time. Alternatively I maybe able to do an isolated visit but it may cost extra.

There is a cancellation policy of 48hrs of less it will be full price changed (this is that same of any session/service). Unless previously discussed or arranged. Of there could be an issue let me know as soon as possible.

Do check the price of your clip before the day as I will need to work out the travel costs which may mean your clip is a different price to last year.

When booking your clip I will give you a time slot please make sure you and your horse are ready for that slot.

Horse do need to be clean and dry to clip and need to have been bathed ideally 48hrs before their appointment (and they need to be scrubbed!!) Dirty horses blunt my blades, puts more stress on my clippers and you get a rubbish finish to your clip. Dirty horse may incur an extra cost. This is all year round not just summer!!

Please book youe 2nd clips when you get your 1st clip if at all possible.

Winter is coming.....

My main page is Charlie's Equine Services and Horsemanship for up to date posts.

10 days of no clipping and a full clip to test the arm out.
21/03/2022

10 days of no clipping and a full clip to test the arm out.

Did first clip in 10 days today (arm coped but was sore) lovely Danny had a full clip inc legs off. Danny hasn't been too keen on leg clipping in the past (current owners haven't had him a year yet) and being quite young I am keen for him to have positive experiences (and I don't want to be kicked!). Therefore he is vet sedated for his legs currently but the plan is to eventually do him unsedated once I feel he is happy and safe.

Every horse is different and the approach taken will be different for every horse these things do take as long as they take and not every horse can have legs clipped safely without sedation especially if they have had or have got sore legs as they get very sensitive.
If you have clipping issues feel free to get in touch I am happy to help πŸ™‚

A clipping update for you all. I have had a niggling/strained elbow for the last few weeks. It is highly likely its RSI, probably from clipping. Because of this I have really limited the amount of clipping the past few weeks and will continue to limit clipping for at least the next month.

**A housekeeping post please read**

🐴 I have been a bit behind on messages recently and there have been delays on replies. I think 🀞 I am now up to date if you are waiting on me please drop me a message!
🐴If you message me after 7.30 pm do not expect a reply till the next day. I also do not work on a Friday afternoon and won't necessarily reply till the Sat.
🐴 I am totally booked up for March and rapidly booking up for April. Unless I have a cancellation I can not fit anyone else in for March.
🐴 From the start of April there are some price changes please do check if you are booked for April what your charge is.
🐴 Please do drop me a message a day or two before your visit unless you are regular this way I know you have confirmed and all is okay for our visit.
🐴 Please try and be ready for your visit. I will often drop you a message when I am enroute.
🐴 I will normally give you an approximate time. Between 1 and 1.30. If I know you are at arena hire or have vet coming I will allow more time for unexpected traffic and will generally try and book you in when I don't have anything tricky beforehand to reduce the risk of delay, however working with horses things don't always go to plan. If I am likely to be more then 15mins late I will let you know. If you need to book the school at your yard I would advise booking for longer than our session in case of delay.
🐴If clipping your horse does need to have been well bathed before clipping.
🐴There is a 48hrs and 24hrs cancellation fee (48hrs half 24 hrs full payment due) every case is assesed on an individual basis and in extreme weather conditions I will disscus each situation with you. Because what is appropriate for one person will not be for another.

Also a massive thank you to all of my super supportive clients. Recent months have been tricky and there have been several emergency vet visits meaning cancellations and rearranging sometimes at late notice and generally everyone has been super understanding ❀❀
