This has been a full on week. A little photo/video dump of some of this week's activities.
A week full of clipping, ridden sessions, loading and travelling, cross country, long reining and GW.
Saturday I joined with JP Equine Connection for a demo to demonstrate #intelligenthorsemanship and promote good horsemanship and training Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship Jo Powell Ihrt
Most GW (and some ridden and long rein) sessions this week have involved bubbles and or flags. It is a good job my clients all embrace my off the wall sessions and see the benefit in not always being conventional in my approach.
This week looks to be the same only maybe just maybe a little more sunshine 🌞
Hanging out with your horse is so important. No one is asking for anything or doing anything you are just being present and chilling
Lauri loves just hanging out before the video she her head asleep on top of mine. Then Indie moved across the barn distributing her.
If you haven't just take time to hang out with your horse.
A little snipit of a long reining hack last week. We had already passed the lorry once, and I know Darcy well, so felt confident doing a video past it and its a track not a road. What a 🌟.
How good is your horse for injections?
My horse has an injection for her cushing's every week. She really is the easiest.
If your horse isn't good with injections/vets/professionals then do get in touch. Although I can't guarantee they will be as good as Indie but we can try!
That's a wrap for 2023, it's been a blast. Thank you to all my fabulous clients.
I look forwards to #2024 and to continue working with you all, helping improve your understanding of our horses, improve relationships, and most importantly, allow everyone to enjoy and have fun no matter what they wish to do. I also look forwards to meeting new people and learning new things with several CPD things already in the diary and with the continuation of my Masters. I hope #2024 will allow you all to work towards and fulfill your dreams.
As many of you will know I don't really do time off apart from once a year. This year is much the same, although I have some non horse/work activities planned pre my time off meaning a month of various activities.
It kicked off with a trip away to last week now this week have been off Bristol to see Mika who was amazing along with Calum Scott supporting. Now heading back though my favourite part of the country Wiltshire/Gloucestershire.
I am not always the quickest at returning messages but I am likely to be slower during this time and also have super limited availability now till mid July. But I have started taking bookings for September clipping!
First I know several people are waiting on vist dates from me. Hopefully tomorrow I will know more about some future plans and can then plan my diary. If you are waiting on me I should get back to you by the weekend.
There could also be a small disruption to a few visits next week and I will endeavour to find new slots for those affected as quickly as possible.
Recently it's been busy with a wide variety of this and activities. Loading has been featuring quite heavily.
Today regular Darcy had her first encounter with a horsebox. Darcy was born on the yard she lives on and they only have regular access to a trailer which Megan her owner has worked with and Darcy loads and travels really well in. But given her limited travelling experience Megan was keen to give Darcy a good first experience with a lorry so should she need to use one at any point or in an emergency she would feel confident Darcy would be happy.
Megan hired Equine Express horsebox hire and transport East Sussex & Kent based which is a lovely safe lorry, perfect for first experiences.
We took things slow as Darcy can have a tendency to rush into things then scares herself causing issues.
There are not many horses were we have had to add stops on the way in and actually encourage them to come out!
As you can see in the video we built up to closing the partition and Darcy was super chilled.
If you haven't loaded your horse into a certain type of vehicle it is well worth taking the time to give them a good experience as you never know when you might need to use one. It's especially important with a younger horse to give them that exposure to all kinds of transport in a positive way with no pressure before they have had any potentially stressful or less positive experiences.
Well done Megan and Darcy 😊
When it's winter, your bringing your horse back into work, you don't have an arena and weather and work get in the way. You have to be more creative, therefore twice a week Lauri and I have been doing inhand pole work exercises in the yard and barn. Today was the first day we introduced raised poles. We have also been doing exercises and stretches mostly from #horsesinsideout increases flexibility and core stability.

Well it's been and intresting and trying week! I am over ice and snow, although it does look so pretty still. De icing the water trough twice a day and trying to feed a horse that can't have hay has been great fun. My diary has been rather turned upside down thanks to frozen yards and arenas. Still manged quite a few clips getting to yards as been somewhat slippery! I guess next week we will all be moaning about mud, rain and wind!
Diary is now more or less full for rest of the year. January is filling up if you are going to need another clip do get booked in so that you can get when you want.
Video is Lauri loving her Simple Systems Lucie Bix in the snow.
As it is getting colder a little video on water trough de-icing. ❄️🧊
I really thought today was going to be a washout. But big stars to my afternoon clients who risked the weather and all had very positive sessions. A little snipit from the 2nd seasion which was definitely the worst weather as it rained in various degrees all seasion. We have been working on groundwork basics and personal space and even in the challenging conditions they did really well.
It's a spooky day at TREC at Sands farm today 🎃
Lola had her regular clip and boy was she super fluffy. I didn't get a before but look at the pile of hair 😲!
Lola was clipped with the #liverman #blackbeautyclippers and #harmonyplus

I think I might be up to date with bookings and messages 🤞. If you are waiting on me then please get back to me.
In the mean time keep your fluffy friends happy and cool.
For me this is what my job is all about. It probably doesn't look much, someone cantering along the long side. But this rider got back on a horse only last Autumn after not riding in 5 years and she can't remember when she last time she cantered. When she first rode several months ago we spent 95% of it in walk on the lunge. Since then we have built up her confidence enough to hack out with others and even lead the way!
Then yesterday she asked of she could try a canter we had also trotted over a couple of pole which was a total first!
No matter how small your goals may seem to some they are important to you. And it makes me smile when we don't just achieve them but smash them.
I do think the fantastic Jango deserves recognition without him things would have been much harder.
