Here at Positively Partners we believe the root to a happy, well-behaved dog is a strong partnership with there humans, based on positive force free training. We believe that all dogs should be given the ability to express themselves and practice natural behaviours, ensuring good mental and physical well-being. This includes providing;
Essentials - dogs should have all the essentials they need to thrive, this includes for and water but also they should have plenty of time to sleep and relax. Adult dogs typically need 12-18h sleep a day, with puppies sometimes needing even more than this, though typically this is broken into shorter periods. They should be given appropriate brunch attention and kept well groomed.
Environment - we should give our dogs a safe and secure environment allowing them soave and freedom to be dogs. They should have access to comfortable and quiet places to sleep, places to play and places to explore and exercise.
Enrichment - they should have sufficient enrichment to keep them challenged and entertained mentally. This should be appropriate to the dog encouraging them to use all there senses and think.
Exercise - dogs should receive appropriate exercise, this doesn't always mean walks, it can include activities like agility, flyball, scent work and training
Emotion - we should actively support and respect our dogs emotional state, working to reduce negative emotions such as anxiety, depression and aggression and promote positive emotional states like calmness, happiness and confidence.
Education - supporting all of the above is helping educate ourselves and our dogs, both to learn appropriate behaviours and skills and to emotionally regulate themselves and grow in confidence.
