Hello Furiends and a Happy New Year to you all!
We have had so many comments and likes on our posts that we kinda lost track in our responses.
But suffice to say we love and appreciate every single one of them!

It's gonna be a little while before we post again 'cos fur mum is quite unwell and we are looking after her as best we can.

Fur dad too as he s waiting for back injections!

So please forgive us!

PS Shadow here and I'll tell you all about my recent dental experience soon!

Sox, Shadow and Smudge!

Hello Furriends of Sox, Shadow and Smudge, Fur-mum Sharon here :)
They've asked me to write on their behalf as they are still resting after the horrendous noise of fireworks at midnight.

So I can tell you all that they did really well up to the main 'letting off' as it were but me and Fur-dad couldn't console them after about a minute or less. Sox dived under the sofa, Smudge dived under the writing desk and Shadow disappeared into the bedroom. Shadow made the worse choice because fireworks were going off at the front, sides and the rear of the building and because of it's shape and construction, any and all noise ricochets everywhere!

We also noticed that some fireworks were making noises we hadn't heard before and as for the air bombs, don't get me started!

Anyway, they are recovering nicely and they want me to wish you all a very Happy and Purrfect New Year and that they hope that their wishes for all cats and kittens to have loving homes comes true!! Best miaows and purrs,

Hello again, it's me, Smudge!

Just a quick update for you because all that's been happening regarding my face has really taken it out of me!

I mentioned in my last post,
When I was at the vet
I thought I saw mum get more meds
It wasn't over yet.

And yes it's still ongoing
No rubs on face or spray
But liquid squirted down my throat
And I don't have a say!

So now I've finished posting
At least for just a while
I'm going to make you wait until
My image makes you smile!

(my fur mum took a photo of me so you can see what I'm still dealing with)

Hi Furriends! Smudge here, posting about my visit to the vet yesterday!

I've been today to see the vet,
About my wounded face
I really was quite nervous
How nice would be the place?

I didn't need to worry
About the place or vet,
The vet she called me sweet pea
The nicest cat name yet! (outside of my own of course)

She gently rubbed my forehead
To get the skin away
It actually took lots of rubs
I thought she'd take all day!

She also stuck two needles
Into my rear right thigh
Both of which were full of meds
But didn't make me cry

Actually both mum and vet
They said how good I'd been
Because I was so quiet and calm
And didn't make a scene.

So now the vet has finished
I can now go home with mum
To our nice and cosy little flat
No needles near my bum!

(I've seen a box of something that my mum was handed by the vet. If it's more meds I'll let you know).

Hi Furrends it's Smudge here with an update on my face!

As promised I am posting
About my wounded face
It seems to me it's healing
And at a steady pace.

Today I made my mind up
To come back to my bed
I really was quite nervous
Because of what's been said

But fur mum gently wiped me
With cotton wool and water
A little salt was added too
And did it help? Well sorta!

But now I'm back in hiding,
My trusting mood diminished
'Cos every time I came for food,
The treatment hadn't finished!

I've decided now I'm staying
Beneath the desk for now
I'll come out when I am ready
At least for treats and chow.

(but I've just found out I'm still going to the vet tomorrow 'cos mum wants to make sure I'm completely OK!)

So, I'll let you all know what the vet says!

Hello Furrends, Smudge here!
I'm posting a poem (yep, I learnt how to do it and I'm teaching Sox and Shadow!). It was only written this morning and after giving it a purrsory inspection I have deemed it suitable to go on our page!
So here goes. It's called 'Smudge Has a Wound'

I'm under daddy's writing desk
I've been there all the night
It's because I am in hiding
I've really had a fright!

I have some matted fur you see,
With a wound above my eye
Not only that, it is quite sore
I'm trying not to cry.

My mummy actually saw it first
And wiped it with a tissue
All covered in some wound care stuff
It wasn't such an issue

She started all this yesterday
I didn't really mind
She was cleaning it so gently
She was really very kind

But 'cos the wound is smelly,
And daddy's now in charge
Instructions are to spray direct
He's really going large!

It's not a bad idea I guess
But later that same night
When Daddy started spraying me
It was then I got the fright!

The spray was used directly
Onto my matted fur
It was really cold and scary
It didn't make me purr.

Instead it made me scramble
First to my own bed
Then I thought dad might do more
So I went and hid instead.

So now it is the morning
I've come for treats and food
I really think there'll be more spray
I'm so not in the mood!

I will try and be more grateful
I really think I should
'Cos I know deep down inside
It is for my own good!

(and hopefully I won't need to go to the vet!)

I'll keep you posted!

Hi Furrends,

It's us here! Well, we have to say we are so glad of our fur coats now 'cos hasn't it got really cold?
We don't really want to go out anywhere at the moment, specially as we also have furry donuts, warm dressing gowns and fleecy blankets to lay on!

So, whilst we are too lazy and warm to get up at the moment, we are taking time out of our busy schedule to sending big 'miaows' in welcome to our new followers as we are really purrleesed to see you!

In fact we love you all and when we can be bothered we are going to post another poem from fur mum!

So stayed tuned and keep warm!!

Hi Furriends :)

Sox, Shadow and Smudge here!

Today's post is a really sad one copied from X (formerly Twitter). It's about being an abandoned dog who has no idea why she was abandoned and is desperately trying to make sense of it all.
It nearly made fur mom cry and nearly made us cry too as it so easily can apply to abandoned cats.
The author is unknown but we would all love to credit her if we could!

FORGIVE ME, MOMMY 😢🐾…
I was there where you left me for two whole days. Sleeping right on the side of the road. I was terrified of the noise from the cars but I did not move.
Last night one of those cars stopped and she got out. She invited me to lunch but I said no. She invited me to come sleep at her house and I also said no. I tried to explain to her that I was waiting for you but she wouldn’t listen. She pulled out a leash and said I couldn’t stay there any longer. I bit her several times and ended up peeing on myself as I growled and cried! She didn’t understand that she was separating me from you! She took me against my will and we drove off! I was so sad because I knew you were going to be worried. We ended up at her house.
I kept screaming hoping you would hear me but you never came. I vomited because of my nerves, feeling so sick. I kept telling her I had to go back because you were going to think I abandoned you when you saw I wasn’t there! I, who love you with all my heart and soul have not stopped crying since we separated a few days ago. I want you to know, I would never do that to you.
I don’t know where you are now or why you stopped the car and left me there. Surely you had something very important to do. Can you come find me now, mommy?
Today I ate because my tummy was hurting. I also slept on a very soft bed. And by accident I also wiggled my tail a bit. I’m so sorry, please forgive me. She’s just being really nice to me. She said I could stay forever. She’s calling me Savannah, but I already have a name. When you pick me up you can tell it to her. You’ll see how surprised she’ll be when you explain to her that this was a big mistake.
Because mommy, you’re coming back for me, right 😢🐾?

We hope that this is widely read because the amount of abandoned dogs and cats is beyond heart breaking and unbelievably cruel. As is their fate when rescues and shelters are so rammed full when loving pets were abandoned after Covid!!

Hello Furrends, it's us again!

Are you hoomans enjoying the heat? We aren't 'cos we are wearing fur coats! We are flopping about all over the place but we have plenty of water, milk and wet food to keep us cool and hydrated.

Despite our own purrsonal discomfort we have gotten together and chosen our next poem for your entertainment.

It's all about food (both cat and hooman) and its called
'What do Cats Like to Eat?'

WHAT DO CATS LIKE TO EAT?

The answer should be easy,
But it isn't always so,
Some cats, they like wet food,
And some cats, they say 'no'.

Now my three cats like wet food,
They like their biscuits too
But what they really often like
Is human food to chew.

Smudge she likes fresh chicken,
Shadow likes some too,
But Sox likes human food the most
And this I'll share with you.

She is very fond of chicken,
Some cheese and beans on toast
She also loves good butter
But what does she like the most?

I think if that I asked her,
She would turn to me and say
But Mum I don't have favourites
I could eat them every day!

So what do our furriends think of this offering? Drop us a line and we'll pass it on. Purrlees be kind!

Hello Furrends,

Long time no miaows but fur dad is very ill and fur mum has been really busy looking after him.
She's very tired so we thought we would do something nice for her. So, after putting our furry heads together we decided that we should allow her to post her poetry on our page, especially 'cos her poems are all about us!!

We've agreed that the first one should be about something we all have to deal with; our mums' obsession with trying to feed us when we don't want feeding.

It goes like this:

CATS DINNER TIME (published on a free poetry site)

My mum thinks I want feeding,
She's chasing me with food,
But I'm not feeling hungry
I'm so not in the mood.

But still she keeps on chasing me,
Thinking she knows best,
I wish that she would go away
And let me have a rest.

I keep on jumping shelf to shelf
And then to the TV,
And still that food bowl's right behind,
She's so not getting me.

Oh, wait a bit,
I think she's stopped,
The message has come through,
Perhaps she'll leave me well alone
And feed the others too!

We hope you like it and we'll be back soon when we've agreed on what the next one should be!

The first Sox's Page post comes on the page launch day and the day that Sox, Shadow & Smudge finally gave Sharon kittens. She found her way up onto the walkway wall outside our flat. Sox was oblivious to the coronary that Sharon was having while we watched and nonchalantly wandered around for 10 minutes or so, finally allowing me to take her down. I then attended to Sharon with CPR, hot sweet coffee and a stiff brandy. Of course, five minutes later, Sox was back on the wall watching the pigeon population with keen interest.

Now I am much bigger and though I still climb the walkway wall, I don't hold out much hope of me actually catching anything!

Hello! :) As Shadow and Smudge have had a post, I thought I'd put one of mine up. (It's Sox here by the way). It's rather a favourite one as it looks as if I've been naughty. I hadn't (I never am) but I wanted to see if I could fit behind the grill in front of my neighbours window. As you can see, I could get in but it wasn't so easy getting out!

Hello, Smudge here :) As you know, this page is called Sox, Shadow and Smudge but there's been little about me. So, here's a photo of me when I was first found outside a neighbours flat. The neighbours provided the basket and the lady due to be my mum gave me the jacket. And boy did I need it 'cos it was really cold!

Hello, it's Sox here, numero uno and big chief puss cat! Noticed that Shadow had hogged the limelight recently with a poem written especially for her by our mum. She hasn't written one for me yet (but she will!) so I was hoping to get one of my more recent photo's published showing me at my serene best. What did she find? This! Me rolling in the litter tray! How undignified!

Hello, it's Shadow here :) Just posting a poem written especially for me by my mum (she's written two but I'll post the other one another day) . She wrote it after I'd had an operation and the medical people said I was anatomically weird (how rude!) So here goes. It's a bit personal but hey, it's all about me!

My given name is Shadow
I'm a small black, brownish cat
I'm living with my mum and dad
In a small but homely flat

I'm not what you'd call pretty
Around my furry tum,
Because I have a bald patch,
Going nearly to my bum!

I'm also sometimes stinky
But mum and dad don't mind
They always clear up after me,
They're really very kind

The litter tray is all my own
My siblings they don't care
To be around same time as me
They really wouldn't dare!

Despite all this they love me,
We have a lot of fun,
With running, playing hide and seek,
Indoors and in the sun!
