Had a check on some of our 8-10" stock this afternoon, just using the old 42" net and swiping over some feed spots....Our 8-10" for this season are looking really well, another month on the feed and they'll be ready for Autumn harvest...these are priced at just £380/100 fish, by the end of September these will definitely be averaging well over the half Lb mark, so alot of fish for the money! These are a great mix of fish with everything from our famous fully scaled through to the more lesser scaled and a few commons for good measure, There are VERY!! Had a quick dabble sample netting this afternoon, just using my old 42" net and sneaking up on the feed spots, the fish pictured was one I managed from one of our C4 ponds, coming in at 13lb.15oz it's looking like a great year for this year class of fish, The second picture was after I tried the same trick on the big girls in one of the C6 ponds, they were way to clever for my sneaking up trick! 😂 looks like they're making me wait until I pull the nets properly to see how they're doing!! Roll on winter 😊😊

Spawning on the farm..

Half our larger stock are now Spawning and with the other ponds hopefully not far behind...

A little earlier than last year, which is great as it means in a few days we can start getting the feed back through the ponds and concentrate on growing for the rest of the season....but until then these C4's will be just destroying every blade of Iris in the pond 🙈😂

There's even a little self spawner at the end of the video trying to get in on the action!! Fair play for trying!! Lol

Busy few days on the farm, setting up another XL holding tank ready for harvest this Autumn...this tank will hold 50 cube of water when finished..(thats 50 tonnes) and it will be used to hold our larger C5 and above during harvest, lots of space to keep them in tip top condition until they get delivered out to you guys 👍

With Spring finally looking like it may make an appearance, stock on the farm are starting to wake from there winter slumber, having been in a mainly shut down mode for the last few months it's important to start getting some feed into them, although this time of the year you aren't necessarily getting growth from feeding, it is vitally important to get there immune systems topped up.
With quality feeds currently in and around £1000+/tonne getting the right feed and balance of feed into them is very important not only for our stock but also for running costs of the farm, Fishery management and your Watercraft skills play an important role, knowing your waters and how your stock are acting aswell as keeping a daily eye on things like water temps/oxygen levels and the long range weather forecast all play there part in feeding at this time of year!
As your fish are waking, so are all the pesky pond parasites such as your fluke/costia and Trich, which just love having a weakened host, they can quickly over run a weakened fish, so spring feeding in some ways is as important as full on summer growth feeds.....

The Oxyguard polaris is an essential bit of kit for us, and I always recommend to fishery owners to invest in one!! Looking good this morning.....so on with the full feed 💪😁😁

Its official.....Autumn Harvest 2021 has begun... The first netting of this seasons Harvest started today, 😁😁😁 I must say I DEFINITELY haven't missed the cold hands...But these Chunky C2's are just part of a 1500Lb order which are off up North early next week... Pulled the nets on one of the C3 stock pools this morning, see how they've done this summer, Very Very happy with these, even with this summer not being brilliant they have still done 4-7Lb since February! Averaging 5-9Lb!! With the odd one going 10Lb at just 3 summers old!! 😁 As you can see from the fish in the net! They are all stunners, no picking the best fish out for pictures with these!! If you're ordering any of our C3 stock this year, this is what you will be receiving! All pristine, fin perfect and a great mix of scale patterns and some monster big shouldered commons! If you're looking for fish of the future at exceptionally great value for money! Then these are the fish to stock!! 😁

Under Ice!! While the recent bad weather has put a stop to pulling the nets! It's well worth remembering that long periods of your pools being under ice can cause problems with your stock! Particularly in smaller pools dangerous levels of toxic gasses can build up to fatal levels pretty quickly! We often use our areators not only as a tool for the summer growing period but to help keep the stock pools as ice free as possible during these colder months!

Sample catching some of our C1's here on the farm to be sent for our routine health check! So I thought I'd take the opportunity to post a quick video showing what this years C1 stock are currently looking like, considering these were only 5 grams each in May this year they sure have been enjoying there feed!

Breakfast time! As the temperatures start to cool these C2's certainly haven't lost there appetite!! With only a few weeks remaining until harvest begins these guys are certainly making the most of the last bit of warmer weather, This hatch are all nearly ready to be sent to there new homes, with them currently hitting the scales at 1-3lb at just 2 summers old they will make a great addition to most waters, These will be sold per Lb and are priced at £5.00/Lb for orders under 1000Lb and £4.60/Lb for orders over 1000Lb If you are interested in stocking any of our stock then please get in touch with us! As the recent warm spell continues keeping water temps well above 20'C the appetite of these fish from last years hatch has defiantly not dropped, I love this time of year here on the farm as you can quite literally see the fish grow and pile the weight on week by week!
