!!!UPDATE- Please bear with us- we have had many messages today from our regulars saying they cannot get a space as we were fully booked within an hour. We will make sure we include as many young people as possible so if you are on the waiting list we will do our best to get you a place. Unfortunately this means that those who have booked every day may not get all the days they want. We are trying to make it as fair as possible 😊CHRISTMAS HAF IS NEARLY HERE- VOUCHERS ARE IN SCHOOL FROM TOMORROW!!! What a perfect snowy day to start thinking about Christmas. Come and join our activity days at Jacob’s Den CIC at APS Livery, Branston Booths. Please note that we can only accept HAF vouchers from SEND children (children with special educational needs and disabilities). We do have some sessions outside of HAF for all children. Teamwork and communication skills were needed for the Halloween games today- especially the ‘blindfold’ obstacles with partners guiding the way. We mostly had fair play, except for Princess who ‘cheated’ by knocking the bucket over in the celery bobbing to make the job easier 🤣

!!!SPACES STILL AVAILABLE FOR WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY!!! Holiday Pony Days. Lots of fun and Halloween games to begin the week including ‘eyeball and spoon’ races and carrot bobbing. Good news- Woody is much better!! He has had a full MOT, blood tests all clear, heart good- his ‘mound’ remains a complete mystery to the vets and, before they took the next step to scan it- it has gone ❤️ Back to his old self again with his friends. Hopefully he will stay that way 🤞😊

Princess is so happy now. Tiny Nox had been her paddock buddy for a month and just wasn’t tall enough to reach Princess’s scratchy spots on her neck and withers no matter how hard she stretched, so we have put Princess with baby Gee who is a lot bigger. The first photo shows the success 🤣. In Saturday’s session, Woody was feeling a lot better and didn’t want to miss out this weekend 😊

Can everyone please give Woody extra scratches and hugs this weekend. The vet has payed him a visit today as he has a ventral edema (swelling on his stomach). The vet has taken bloods to test so we can hopefully find the problem and make him better soon 😊

Sunshine and showers and a request from one of our visitors for football this weekend. Don’t think our ponies are ready to play for England yet but we lots of desensitisation using the balls beforehand to help. A few photos from our session at the Arena yard too 😊

The last few sessions before the end of the summer have drawn to an end. Thank you to everyone for making it such a fabulous time. Good luck with school everyone, especially those going to a new school or college. Well done to Jack and Jorja for getting the results they wanted in their exams👌. !!CHANGE OF SESSION TIME!! Please note, we have a slight change to our session times on a Saturday and Sunday morning. They will now run from 10:00 until 12:30 so a fifteen minute later start and finish. The price remains unchanged at £15 😊

A whole week of photos - such a busy time! Our regulars now have the skills to complete many jobs such as making up the feeds etc without any support. New skills also learnt this week including first aid for humans and ponies and more ways to recognise and keep good health. A goodbye to our HAF visitors until Christmas - you have been amazing and ponies and staff are already missing you all!! Please remember we are open every weekend and also during the October holiday. These sessions are open to all children not just SEND. Please also enquire if you are interested in attending sessions during the week. These could include sessions for school non- attenders or adults with a disability. Hope to see you soon 😊

Three more busy days at Jacob’s Den- new skills, new challenges, new friends- and lots of fun!!! Lots of learning about keeping ourselves and the ponies healthy, including a visit from our local vet, Barbara from Pegasus, to give the ponies a check over- helped by our visitors! 😊If you would like to book a place for your child, please visit our website- jacobsden.org- for further details.
