This is so true. Bloody hard work for £1 an hour it works out on a 24hr board. But we adore what we do and couldn’t think of doing anything else. 🐕❤️
It's much MORE than just picking up p**p and no we don't just cuddle animals all day.
Working with a living, breathing animal is a REAL job. Don't ever let anyone tell you any differently!
Many of you have worked so hard to get where we are today and have to contend with comments such as:
- What's your real job?
- Ahhh that must be nice playing with animals all day?
- All you do is talk about dogs all day
You should never be made to feel awkward or belittled.
That's because you do an amazing job. You are helping dogs and their owners.
Getting life changing results.
It's often a long day, tiring, a real commitment and involves a high level of skillset. A true understanding of dog behaviour. People skills. Business skills. Plus so much more.
This applies to all jobs working with dogs or in fact any pet or animal.
Whether you are a dog walker, dog trainer, behaviourist, pet sitter or dog groomer etc you are making a real difference.
You should never be made to feel like someone who just picks up poo and cuddles dogs all day.
I think sometimes people underestimate what we do, that's until they've tried it.
I've seen so many dog walkers set up and fail within 6 months.
That's because it is bloody hard.
It sometimes feels like we are the unsung heroes. But times are changing. Education is the way forward.
