⚠️This is a warning to all dog walkers in Liverpool⚠️
It has been brought to our attention that several dogs have become seriously unwell after being walked in a park off Childwall Valley Road in Belle Vale. We understand that the area has been cordoned off by police.
If you have been walking in the area today and are concerned about your pet, please contact your vet.
Pet Poison Alert: Livistona rotundifolia aka
Footstool palm/Saribus
rotundifolius.
We recommend all pet owners familiarise themselves with the Animal Poison Line service. Keep their number & the fee* handy.
*They have plenty of free info to help owners prevent poisoning. The fee is for calling in the event of a suspected poisoning and its worth it!
We have been notified that a poisonous plant is being used as decoration in a pot plant that can be purchased in garden centres and possibly florists.
The pot plant is Livistona rotundifolia (footstool palm; also known as Saribus rotundifolius) and pots of these plants are decorated with three fibrous balls. The balls are the skeletonised fruit of Cerbera odollam (su***de tree, pong-pong). Within each fruit is a kernel that is extremely toxic; a single kernel can be fatal if eaten and poses a risk to both pets and people. The toxic compounds in Cerbera odollam are cardiac glycosides, which are also found in foxglove, oleander, lily of the valley and other plants.
If you have these fibrous fruits in your pot plant, remove them and dispose of them safely. It you are worried your pet may have eaten the plant material contact Animal PoisonLine (01202 509 000)or your vet immediately.
Found L4 Organge Tabby. Blue collar. Do you recognise me? I've been visiting kind people in L4, but for the last 2 weeks I've been staying longer & asking to be let in. With winter coming they want to make sure I'm not lost! My friends are trying to paper collar me & have me scanned.

Found L20 Bootle. Grey Cat (appears Female). No chip but has distinctive feature owner will know.

New info has come to light; Could be male or female (we'll check at vet appt). Was absent 6/ 7th to 21st Feb. May have been limping or showing difficulties jumping up.
Left with paper collar on but can take this off.
Does anyone own, or has been feeding a similar cat that goes away for the day or days at a time? That reappeared between 6-21st Feb and has been spending long periods away again since later on the 21st feb?
A found cat can only be rehomed when there is no owner - as we have no idea where this poppet is going when she isn't with feeder, we can't be sure kitty isn't returning to an owner.
Any information to help us is greatly appreciated 🙏

L32 We desperately need to find out where this cat is going. Do you feed her? Does she visit you? Is she yours? Please think hard, do you recognise her? She is leaving feeder we are aware of for long periods.
No chip. No response to paper collar BUT she can get it off so we've no idea if the message is reaching anyone. If this sweet girl needs a home we would love to get her one, but we can't do so until we confirm she is not owned.

Sierra & Jess are 2 healthy & happy neutered seniors. Doctors sadly believe they are the cause of severe allergic reaction now risking the sight of a child in the home (big sores on the child's eyes)💔 The owners are very aware of the rescue crisis, also the risk of private rehoming, but they're hoping a rescue might have space soon to take Sierra & Jess. Car also stopped at ALDI PRESCOT ROAD L14 & FINCH LANE 14. She is very affectionate & mischievous!! Collar is a safety release collar, pink with silver triangles pattern. Female tabby cat. Chipped but chip unregistered. Possibly neutered. She'll have been missing at least since 1st Oct this year & could be from anywhere near Aspes Road, Finch Lane or Prescot Road.

Does anyone recognise me? I've been visiting a home on Roe Lane for a long time, but some recent changes have them worried I could be a stray, lost etc. One is my brief lunchtime visits are now long until late & dark. Found L21 Seaforth. Do you recognise me? Do you own me or care for me as a stray? This sweetheart has been living in a shelter in a garden in Seaforth for approx 2 weeks & we believe is or was a stray that was neutered, then released (A TNR). As you can see kitty loves cuddles although timid at first. So at some point after release kitty could have been adopted into a home or have a feeder who cares for them. We'd love to reunite with owners or feeder, or if stray with no one, get kitty's secured with a safe & loving home!
