Afternoon Everyone!

For those of you new to us, or just want to know a bit more about how Pet Shack came about; here's how it happened:

Just over 14 Years ago, we got Ollie - Our Alpha, also known as The Captain or Number 1!

When we got him we were paying out on the most expensive branded food - as you do - thinking he was getting the very best! However, when he hit 1, we started to notice him slowing down and losing condition - a one year old springer certainly shouldn't be slowing down! He was also refusing his food and we did all the usual things - mixing things into his food to encourage him etc.

By chance, Matt had read an article about raw food for dogs and we thought why not give it a try!

Best decision we ever made! Within a week we started to see a change in him! He was eating again with gusto, flying around like a young springer should and just seemed generally happier!

The rest as they say is history! Over the last 13 years we have learnt so much about raw food and nutrition for dogs! It's become a passion for us and now it's our passion to help other peoples' dogs! Ollie was our inspiration! It started with Matt, then I took the leap to leave secondary English teaching and join Matt with Pet Shack...now we have the most AMAZING TEAM here and we couldn't be more grateful! 🙏

As the years went on, we added Milo to the pack - a rescue springer, then skip ahead and Eisa the Cocker joined us - to just over a year ago, we added little Nels our second cocker! (The Cocker girls became our inspiration for our second business - based upstairs in Pet Shack, but that's another story!)

We 100% feel that an improved diet and lifestyle has contributed to the longevity of our dogs - Sadly, we lost Ollie and Milo last year both at the wonderful old age of 14 - both of whom were still out working during the previous season, despite the selective deafness! 🤦‍♀️🤣 We genuinely attribute their long working life to their diet and lifestyle!

As with everything we are always learning, always striving to understand more and advising customers with the same passion and care that we all have for our own dogs!

A phrase we hear all the time - but are dogs really fussy??

I hate to say it, but dog's shouldn't be fussy! Sadly, it's us that make them 'fussy'...🤦

There's so many reasons why dogs don't eat consistently, but either way it's stressful when they don't eat - I get it!
