Hi Folks, Lydiate Lane has been closed for the last 3 weeks. Lydiate Lane is now open with temporary traffic lights. Also, the puppy classes will be closed on Easter Sunday 9th April and Easter Monday 10th April.

Hi Folks,
Our Monday evening puppy class has been closed for the last few weeks due to the fireworks in our area. We expect more fireworks tonight after the constant fireworks since Thursday and all over the weekend. Today's puppy class will also be closed. We will reopen our Monday evening puppy class 7pm until 8pm on Monday 14th November. Sorry for any inconvenience over the last few weeks. The image is Tara AKA Mrs Yellow

Hi folks,
On Thursday 3rd we had an awful situation. Tara our Rottweiler had a series of fits. We tried to comfort her but she kept fitting. We managed to get an appointment for Alder Vets in West Derby. We got her into the car and Jean and I headed off to the vets. She continued to fit in the car. We were close to the vets when Jean realised that Tara had died. I went into the vets and informed the receptionist that we believed Tara had died. The vet and a nurse came out to the car and confirmed that Tara had died.
Tara was a fantastic dog. She had a great temperament and was brilliant on the H&M Dog Display Team. She did all aspects of the Displays. Agility, Flag Box, Tow Truck, Security Work, Weights, Relay Race and lots more.
We are missing her more than anything.

Hi Folks, some sad news today. One of our top team dogs has passed away. Her name was Mia. A 12-year-old Labradoodle. Mia was an outstanding display dog. She had a great temperament, and she was absolutely brilliant at the displays. She was at the training centre only last week. She was fussed by all the team members. Mia has been unwell for a while. Sadly, she went to sleep earlier today. Our sincere condolences to Debbie, Amy & James. From Jean & Mick & all the team past & Present.

Hi Folks, just found out that Lydiate Lane will closed off on Saturday and Sunday for resurfacing. If you are coming to the Sunday Puppy class, you need to follow any diversions or check your route with google maps and work out your route. Hi Folks, H&M Dog Training will be closed on Friday 5th November, due to FIREWORKS.

What to do when your dog is scared of fireworks
If your dog is afraid of the loud noises caused by fireworks, you should:
• keep your dog indoors with windows and doors securely closed
• leave internal doors open so they don’t feel trapped
• try to soundproof your house, such as drawing curtains
• provide background “white noise” such as the TV, radio or other music — it’s wise to start this in advance of the fireworks starting
• ensure your dog has access to a place where he/she can go and settle if he/she is distressed — this may be his/her usual bed but you can also offer an alternative such as a blanket under a table with some of your old clothes as this will provide somewhere to hide and will be a comfort to your pet
• take your dog for his/her usual walk before the fireworks are set off and ensure he/she is kept on a lead at all times, especially if you’re in any doubt about whether the noise of a firework may cause him/her to bolt
• feed him a good meal well before the fireworks are due to start
• Provide your dog with nutritious treats while the fireworks are going off as this may distract him/her and help to settle him/her down
• ensure your pet is wearing ID so that if he/she does run away there’s a greater chance of him being returned to you
• ensure your dog is microchipped and wears a collar and tag — these are both legal requirements
• praise your pet as this will help reassure him/her
• comfort your pet if he/she is acting scared

Rocky @ the H&M Dog Display events. Hi Folks,
We got some sad news yesterday. One of our Display dogs has passed away. His name was Rocky and he was a Rottweiler, he was 10 years old. His owners Eric and Rita who were in the H&M Dog Display team for many years. Rocky was a great team dog. Rocky did all aspects of our display, Agility, High jumps, Fire Jumps, Security work, Weave poles and much more. Rocky is sadly missed by Eric and all the family and all the H&M team members who were in the H&M at the time Rocky was with us. Jean & Mick and all the H&M Dog Display Team members past and present would like to pass on our condolences to Eric and all the family.
