Here is Ellie our new patient at Abingdon. I had to share her story and take her photo today. 🐾🐶🐩🐕‍🦺🐕🦮

Her eyes are so capturing and when you look at them you can tell she has a story.

Ellie was rescued in Sydney, Australia. Police were called in to rescue Ellie. Where she was an unfortunate victim of abuse 😭😭
Ellie has now since then recovered so well and she's showing great signs of behavioural socialisation. ❤️🙏🏼😁

This is all down to her new owners who absolutely adore her❤️

Now Ellie is able to be stroked by strangers, her new favourite thing in the world of course being a labrador😁😁🤭 is TREEEEEAAAAAATSSSS

Protected paws 🐾 is a charity organisation who helps cats in need. And sometimes they do rescue dogs in need too.

💚DNA vet care have kindly opened there doors to cats in need under protected paws. And we help treat them, medicate them and get them new homes as soon as.

🙂😇 It's important that we learn to give back as humans and if we have the means to do so then why not help.

Today the boys have come in for there microchips.👍👍👍

From 10 June 2024, owners of a cat older than 20 weeks must ensure that the cat is microchipped and registered on a microchip database in line with the Microchipping of Cats and Dogs (England) Regulations 2023.‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

If you are unsure that your pet is not microchipped please call and come in and we can easily scan and check and if not our veterinary surgeon will be happy to chip your pet 🎆🎇🌠

VOMITTING HAIRBALLS ???? DROOLING AT THE MOUTH???

Hello everyone todays post will be about hair balls 😱🤢

🐱what is a hairball?
🟢 Hairballs are clumps of fur

🐱Are they painful?
🟢Hairballs can cause painful and serious gastrointestinal blockages, Constipation, Vomiting, Decreased appetite, Fever, Lethargy

🐱How can I prevent my cat from getting hairballs?
🟢 Groom your cat regularly. The more fur you remove from your cat, the less fur will end up as hairballs in their stomach.

🟢Try cat food formulated for hairballs. If your cat brings up hairballs regularly, consider switching to a food specifically formulated to help reduce the issue.

🟢Add more fibre, such as Pumpkin (or pumpkin powder), Apples, Carrots, Cat grass, Metamucil (fibre pill or powder)

😸At what age do cats get hairballs?
🟢Kittens and young cats are less likely to get hairballs than older cats, as they spend less time grooming themselves. Hairballs are a common problem in older cats, partly because their digestive systems may be slower.

Here is our favourite best Vet of West London Jose with our sweet Rhodesian ridgeback Nala🤭🤭🤭

Nala has had such a tough few months. But now is back ready for the parks of West London and her other doggo friends🐶🐶🐶🐶

Nala is originally from Germany.🇩🇪 She had a mass in her left lateral thigh which was a mast cell tumour🙁 It was excised in Germany. She then needed re bandaging and re stitching due to there being high tension within the central part of her wound causing it to open up and bleed but with the help and support of Abingdon team and Jose we were able to after re checks and bandage changes and using intrasite gel to stimulate granulation. THE WOUND FINALLY HEALED 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

We now have a happy Nala, a happy owner and a happy team 💚💚💚💚💚

Hawaii story is heartbreaking.😢😢
These 2 sister were part of a litter from our clients dogs. Our clients absolutely adore there fur babies, wanted for them to have the best life possible in there new homes with there new owners.😁😁

A couple decided they wanted to purchase Hawaii from Germany. They showed our clients how educated and experienced they were with French bulldogs. So privately Hawaii flew to Germany to this couple.✈️✈️ And the breeders were checking every step of the way📱📲. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse on Hawaii's first 2weeks in Germany the couple were adamant that they did not want Hawaii and that they would set her free in the forests if they did not recieve a full refund and for Hawaii to be taken away. 😔😔Poor Hawaii was abused and starved during this process. Quickly the breeders acted obviously not wanting there baby to be hurt they promptly hired a private courier to go and retrieve Hawaii. But upon arrival Hawaii was already in such a bad way.😔😔😔😔

Due to this the owners who are very good clients of Abingdon decided to keep Kolada our cream Frenchie as she was a beautiful outstanding colour and they did not want people to use her as a breeding machine. And also decided to keep gorgeous Hawaii as she went through so much trauma and distress.😔😔

HOWEVER, on an ecstatic happy note Hawaii and Kolada are now 6 and still with there breeders living a beautiful life with support from Abingdon Vets all the way. 💚💚💚💚💚😁😊😇

🐾 We’re so grateful to have been able to help one of our beloved feline patients here at Abingdon Vet! Dr. Marizza and our amazing team worked quickly to save this sweet kitty who was suffering from a urinary blockage—a potentially life-threatening condition, especially in male cats.

✨ Urinary blockages are a serious concern, and we want to remind pet owners to watch for signs such as: 🚽 Straining to urinate 🚽 Frequent trips to the litter box with little or no output 🚽 Crying or showing signs of discomfort 🚽 Lethargy, loss of appetite, or vomiting

If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t hesitate to bring your cat in for an examination! Early detection and treatment are key to preventing serious complications.
