Are you giving your pup good, healthy treats😋?

You should always buy treats made with natural ingredients🍎🥕🥩. Treats full of sugar and fat aren't good for you or your dog!

Look for treats made from whole grains like oats or quality, single source proteins like chicken🐔 or lamb🐑. Fish🐟 is also a great snack that's low in fat and calories.

How often do you bathe your dog 🫧?

Dogs secrete natural oils that help them maintain a healthy coat✨. Washing your dog too often can strip these away, resulting in dryness and skin irritation.

For a lot of new dog owners, it's difficult to determine how often you should bathe your puppy or adult dog😫. The truth is, the answer depends on a lot of factors such as breed, lifestyle, coat length and more!

Washing your dog at least once every three months is a good rule of thumb👍, but once a month or once a week is fine if they actually need a bath.

To put it simply, let your nose be the guide. If your dog is getting smelly, you know it’s time! Bathing your dog is also a fantastic opportunity to check them for parasites like fleas or ticks, skin infections, wounds or suspicious lumps that need medical attention✅.

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” ... MYTH‼️

While this saying will probably never go away, know this - Old dogs can learn new tricks😁 Dogs are naturally good learners due to their inquisitivity and eagerness to grasp new experiences🤓.

Although young pups may be more actively curious, dogs never stop learning. In fact, adult dogs are often easier to train than their younger pup friends, because they are not as active and nor easily distracted😅. This ability to concentrate helps them learn new routines more easily💯.

So, what are you teaching your dog next?

It's National Puppy Day🐕 Who's thinking of getting a pup🫣?

Did you know that National Puppy Day was created to not only celebrate man's best friend, but to encourage potential owners to "ADOPT, DON'T SHOP"?

It also aims to promote awareness of, and put an end to, the cruel practice of puppy mills and farms⚠️.

What type of food do you feed your dog?

Every dog owner has a preference for either dry kibble🍪, cooked food🍲 or raw food🥩. Wet food is a great way to give your dog a hydration boost💦, while dry food can support dental health🦷. But most important factor is that it should meet the nutritional needs of your dog.

Every dog is unique🐶, and as their caretaker, it is your job to decide what food is best for them, based on their preferences, medical history, physiology, behaviour, and many other factors.

Did you know that dog thieves receive a maximum of 7 years in prison? On the 14th of March every year, the UK commences Dog Theft Awareness Week. First introduced in 2016, Dog Theft Awareness Week aims to educate people about the dangers of dog theft, and how to avoid it.

As a reminder to stay vigilant and aware, here are some theft prevention tips for all the dog owners out there.

🐶 Don’t leave your dog outside a shop or supermarket
🐶 Don’t let your dog out of sight during exercise
🐶 Don’t leave a dog unattended in a vehicle
🐶 Make sure your garden, house and outside kennels are secure.
🐶 Check gates, lighting and think about CCTV
🐶 Be careful who can see your pet’s photos on social media
🐶 Change your routine regularly

FACT! Don't get us wrong, they don't ACTUALLY see in black and white😂. Dogs have only two cones (colur receptors in the eye) and see the world with a unique colour spectrum of yellow💛and blue💙.

This is where it gets confusing... Because of the spectrum, they can also see brown, as well as various hues of gray, black and white. If you give them a red toy, they will see it as a brown toy🧐.

Here's a tip: if you want to fully engage all of your dog's senses during playtime, you should look for toys that are blue or yellow, so that they'll stand out from the duller shades of brown and gray in your dog's field of vision. This could help explain why dogs love those bright yellow tennis balls so much🎾!
