This is how tortoises walk lifting their body on all 4 legs . Tortoises have elephant like hind legs and need good friction to get grip while walking.
Lots of hobbyists keep the tortoises on slippery floor and they almost have to crawl to walk.
It can make their posture bad and can damage their legs muscles in long term..

Making an enclosure filled with garden soil in base would make it better to walk
