So often, sport-trained dogs and true protection dogs are confused. A sports dog is trained to a very high standard in obedience which includes biting a sleeve but more often than not, they look fantastic in a demonstration but would never protect in a real-world scenario. A true protection dog is looking at the threat, not a sleeve, and is trained to work off equipment and exaggerated movements, instead being a relaxed enjoyable dog to live with but always having the radar on for any problems.
