✅ ️Sold to the man with the coffee and HobNobs

Make me an offer!

This was one of my first carvings. It isn’t great, the wood was too flaky and open grained meaning that it was hard to keep a line and bits chipped off easily. Think of it as battle-scarred.

Would look ok on a wall...from a distance, maybe amongst other Viking themed stuff.

Make me an offer: Some loose change? Buy me a coffee? Offer to take it to a dark place and burn it in a sacrifice to the Gods of bad carving? I might just burn it myself if a better offer isn't forthcoming.

Happy New Year to all of my customers, followers and friends. I have spent a bit (OK, a lot) of time in the shed over the past couple of weeks and have been trying out a few new ideas, so keep a look out for them over the coming weeks.

I have also managed to finish a few carvings which will be posted here over the next few days. (Pssst, don't tell everyone but you can go and check them out on the web site now if you don't want to wait).

A warning to other sellers and businesses.

I have now had 3 messages from different people asking if an item is still available. Usually, my reply is that it is not but that I am happy to make one to order.

A bit of discussion ensues, and they ask for some details (how much? how long will it take) all the usual questions a customer would ask.

Next, they ask for your Paypal details so they can send payment, which they follow up with a message saying they have sent payment. You check your account and see that no payment has arrived, and that is where the proper scam begins.

They tell you that Paypal needs them to send an additional amount to upgrade your account to a business account and ask if they can trust you to refund them the payment.

I found this odd, so I checked that my account is still a business account, and a bit of a Google search showed that this is indeed a scam. I'm not sure how because I haven't gone that deep into it, but people end up losing lots of money.

Just wanted to make people aware. If you go back through messages from potential customers and find that the customer's messages are deleted for breaching community standards, then they were probably scammers.

I sometimes have items that I have not made for sale, or had planned to sell but wasn’t really happy with but someone might like them. Depending on availability, I plan to occasionally start posting these as Sunday Specials. They will either be discounted shop items, competition prizes or open to offers.

The first item is this Fox Face carving, which I whittled away at while sitting in the garden during the summer, using just a couple of cheap carving tools and a bit of sandpaper.

Make me an offer via messages. Don’t be shy, I won’t be offended by any offer. It doesn’t even have to be cash as I would consider a swap for any scrap wood (not MDF or chipboard), tools or whatever else you may have.

I will let this run until Friday evening and then pick the best offer.

(If postage is required, it will be £1.99, but happy to arrange local delivery/collection in Woolwich or surrounding areas.)
