π Equal play between two dogs is nothing short of beautiful π

π The hardest part of our job without comparison, is saying goodbye to one of our beloved dogs over the rainbow bridge.
πΆ Charlie is without exception.
π We will remember all the good and funny times this handsome Husky x Akita gave us and will savour sooooo many memories.
πΆ Charlie was near 15 years old and we've been lucky enough to walk him for more than half of his years.
π Most definitely our biggest dog to date with a heart to match. Charlie was so loving and would hilariously bark in chorus when we arrived to pick him up for his daily walks.
πΆ Charlie loved Retrievers. Ideally female. If ever there was one in trotting distance, and you didn't clock it first, Charlie would be off and you'd not stand a chance. He'd just have to get to that girl.
π Water was an absolute favourite especially through the summer months. He'd saunter through streams taking big gulps along the way and you'd not get him out until he was ready. And rightly so.
πΆ Charlie was a little daunting to one of our walkers Karen, who has been walking Charlie for the latter few years of his time with us. He soon taught her that she had nothing to worry about and they formed a lovely connection over the course of time.
π Thank you Charlie for being a wonderful teacher to us all. We'll be forever grateful, you really have no idea. Such a special boy.

π It's not often I choose to go away without my most precious possession. Without my best friend. My pet. My beautiful baby girl. My dog.
πΆ You know the one.
π Father's Day arrived and there are many miles between me and my Pops these days.
πΆ I'd decided that I wanted some time to devote full attention to a Father and Daughter weekend. And to do that, I knew I had to leave Sorrell behind.
π No matter how close our relationships are with those closest to our heart (animal and human), time apart is a healthy necessity. For both parties.
πΆ It'll be nice. I'll be fine.
π Oh lordy.
πΆ It's ok, I'm not THAT pathetic. Am I? Maybe I am. I was doing ok or so I thought. I was so busy enjoying myself with my Pops, I didn't really have time to miss her. Not really.
π Until the 2nd day when we saw a lot of people. With their dogs.
πΆ I watched one lady on the beach, on her own, with her dog.
π She was leaping about, hair everywhere, kicking up sand - whilst her dog joined in, in harmony.
πΆ It made me smile so much. This was me and Sorrell. The bond. The connection. The fun. The trust. The love.
π Yep, I missed my girl. On day 2. One night. About 36 hours since I waved goodbye.
πΆ That night, I had a horrible dream. Sorrell had been stolen.
π» By a ghost.
π For the love of God! Get a grip girl!
πΆ Yes, yes, I made a call that morning to Sorrell's loving trusting weekend carer. Just to make sure she hadn't actually been stolen. By a ghost.
π» She hadn't.
π The point is, I have so much admiration for every single one of our wonderful clients who leave their dog in our care. Be it, hourly, daily, weekly, for days or weeks at a time. I honestly don't know how you do it.
πΆ Obviously we are so glad that you do and don't ever change that. But just to share, it's no easy task. But it does show what trust and belief you have in us. And for that, we are forever grateful.
π I've absolutely adored being back with So
πΆ We all need to reset now and then.
π Our beautiful dogs do this by shaking off.
πΆ It occurs after senses have been heightened - through either good or bad experiences.
π Watch your dog next time they shake off and see what had just happened beforehand.
πΆ Our world's greatest teachers.

π₯Happy Easter Folks!
πΆ Obvs it's a no chocolate day for our favourite family members this Easter but they don't have to miss out completely.
π Eggs are a superfood for us and our dogs.
π₯Organic ones are much richer in nutrients and free from harmful additives.
πΆ The eggshell itself is a pure wonder of amazement. (If your shell is shiny, it is treated with chemicals. Don't use these shells).
π Benefits:
Shell - Calcium - bones & teeth
Membrane - Glucosamine, collagen and chondroitin - great for joints especially active dogs or the elderly who are slowing up.
Egg - Protein source (raw, scrambled, boiled) a super healthy addition to your dogs diet. Daily is absolutely fine too.
π₯Rinse and dry shells. Use coffee grinder to make a fine powder.
πΆ I've done the same with organic pumpkin seeds which are another super food for your beloved.
π Benefits of the seeds:
Vit A, C & E - immune system, brain function, eyes and skin health.
Fibre - good digestive health, natural wormer (contains amino acid compound which paralyses worms). Can help mild constipation and diarrhea.
Minerals - potassium, copper, magnesium and iron.
All from a little seed.
πΆ Mix the egg shells and pumpkin seeds together and store.
π Add a teaspoon of magic onto your dogs breakfast daily.

πΆ It's National Puppy Day! What a beautiful day to make national.
π Here's me and my puppy bonding nicely on the day she came home - 3 years ago.
πΆ The second part of the video is Day 2, teaching her 'leave'.
π Pups learn so young and it melts my heart how clever she was then as she is now.
πΆ High paws to all the puppies and the incredible journeys you have ahead of you.

π Welcome Nova to Dogs at Heart - how cute is he!
πΆ Nova has just turned 6 months old and his breed is an adorable Coton de Tulear.
π Nova is currently too young for our 1 hour small group walks so he is walked for 30 mins either solo or with one other dog for now.
πΆ This is a great way for a puppy to get used to sharing his walks and the car space before he graduates to our small group walks.
π Once Nova's bones have grown stronger he will be able to hang with the grown ups which we think he will absolutely love!
πΆ Not too long to wait little one!

π These are always the hardest of posts to write but one where we get to celebrate all the wonderful memories and remember all the cute personality traits.
πΆ Weβve always been unsure of Denzelβs exact age, but he would have been around 16 /17 when he crossed over the rainbow bridge on 5th February. He was an old man of course but it was still quite unexpected and no matter what, it leaves a Denzel shaped hole in our little group walks.
π We had been walking Denzel for around 6 years, and in our early years it was twice and day, 3 times per week so we got to know the little fella well. And he knew us. Very well. Denzel knew us before we even arrived. By that I mean, no matter where he may have been resting at home, as we approached the front door, before our footsteps were up the path and the key anywhere near the door, he would be up and barking his little lungs out in excitement, raring to go for his walks.
πΆ Denzelβs βbrotherβ and faithful doggy companion Charlie was also a part of this loveable charade. They would bark in unison and the chaos of trying to put their collars and leads on was nothing more than amusing. Whilst you sorted Denzel, Charlie would bark, sing, danceβ¦and when Denzel was suited and booted, youβd move onto Charlie only to be met with Denzelβs chorus of celebrations β or perhaps it was more likeβ¦hurry up!! And as soon as we left the front door and walked down the pathβ¦. absolute silence. Itβs like they denied all knowledge.
π Being tiny and low to the ground, one of Denzelβs dislikes, was long grass. And mud. Oh, and puddles. Mostly anything where his feet might get dirty. The long grass was often an obstacle in the parks especially in the summer. Heβd often walk away from the rest of the group to keep to the path, checking over to us (very occasionally) and just doing his own thing. So independent that sometimes it was like he didnβt really need us at all.
πΆ Denzel didnβt care too much
π We've got brand new tags for all our dogs this week. Green hearts - what's not to love about that!
π Here's Theo modelling for us looking extremely dapper as always.
π Theo is our gorgeous Norfolk Terrier who's not long turned 11 years old. He had a run of bad luck the past year or so with various health issues but after wonderful care and patience from his lovely pet parent, he is in great shape now.
π Theo loves his walks with us on a daily basis and is very partial to a snack or two. Or a duck π¦
