Lovely Leo was referred to our Head of Orthopaedics, Kiki, to investigate lameness to one of his front legs. A physical exam, CT and ultrasound showed Leo had tendonopathy, which causes pain and swelling to the tendon.

Leo's limp will be managed conservatively with physical therapy and pain relief, and we’ll keep a close eye on him to ensure his condition doesn't deteriorate and require surgery.

You can see here he is enjoying a walk in the sun with vet George. 🌞

Best of luck to our intern José!

José is leaving us soon following his second internship at LVS. He says his time here has been ‘incredibly rewarding’ and has seen him grow significantly as a vet.

He says he has become more confident in his clinical skills, and the highlight has been working with such a supportive and skilled team. ❤️

Good luck José, we’ll miss you! 👋

on World Blood Cancer Day. 🩺

Nine-year-old Shih Tzu Lily came to LVS with mildly enlarged lymph nodes and an increased number of white blood cells. After further tests, she was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called T-zone lymphoma, which is not usually aggressive.

Most dogs with T-zone lymphoma can live for a long time without treatment, or with mild medication. What's most important is regular monitoring to check lymph node size, blood cell counts, and how the pet is feeling overall.

Lily has been doing really well so far and continues to be carefully monitored by our team here at LVS. She still very much enjoys life and brings joy to her family every day. 💖

If you ever notice something unusual in your pet, like swollen lymph nodes or unexplained tiredness, don’t hesitate to speak to your vet - we are here to help.

Poor Jeff was enjoying a sniff around his garden when a pair of foxes appeared and picked a fight with him. 💔

He was referred to our hospital where our Specialist Imaging team performed x-rays to check for internal damage. Other than a small amount of air between the lungs and chest wall, which was expected to resolve itself, Jeff was lucky to have no major injuries. Our Soft Tissue Surgeon Janet repaired a very large wound on his side. Jeff spent a night at LVS for close monitoring and TLC before going home the next day.

We’re delighted that Jeff’s wound has healed well and this brave boy is back to full health.

Sindy was referred to our Neurology department to investigate seizures. Blood tests, a MRI of the brain and spinal fluid sample revealed Sindy has an inflammatory condition affecting the brain.

We were so pleased to get an update from her owner Shereen that Sindy is doing well at home - swipe to see her back to work already!

Bobby was referred to our Oncology service after an enlarged prostate was discovered, with concerns it may have been cancerous.

Our dedicated team carried out further tests and were happy to rule that the enlargement was benign. 👏

Now Bobby has returned to his general practice vet where he will undergo neutering, which is expected to shrink his prostate and result in a clean bill of health for this very good boy. 🐶

It’s National Take Your Dog to Work Day, so we wanted to show off some of our office sidekicks! 🐶

We’re proud to have a dog-friendly office, and you can often find Lead Theatre RVN Nico’s pooch Rupert at LVS. Rupert shares his office with fellow four-legged colleagues, P**a, Bisous, Leia and Maise – to name but a few!

Do you take your pet to work? Drop a pic of your office dog in the comments!

We’re saying a huge thank you and good luck to our team of rotating interns who finish their 12-month contracts with us this week 💖

We have been so lucky to have such a great cohort spend the first year in our Hammersmith hospital with us and wish them all the best for the future. Their exciting next chapters include an oncology internship, travel, an internal medicine residency, a rotating internship and a return to primary care!

Throughout the year our interns work with our specialists to broaden their skills and deepen their knowledge. We’re so proud of them all for their hard work and achievements!

Some of our team have gone back to school 📚

Registered Vet Nurses Amelia and Luke and Patient Care Assistant Rowan recently visited a local primary school to represent the veterinary profession as part of Careers Week.

After being included in an assembly for the whole school, groups of pupils spoke to the team about what we do on a daily basis. We also took along some stethoscopes which were a big hit! It was a great morning and we loved spreading the word about veterinary careers! 🐰

Meet Babe, our model patient! 🐰

This three-year-old Mini Lop has lived a life of luxury with her devoted owner since she was just five weeks old. Babe lives indoors, goes on harnessed walks, has her own Instagram account () and is even a part-time model in fashion magazines!

Over the past two years Babe had a chronically painful corneal ulcer in her eye which would not heal, so her family brought her to see our Ophthalmologist Dr Vim Kumaratunga. Dr Vim confirmed Babe still had the ulcer, and carried out surgery to remove part of the cornea and graft some of the delicate eye tissue so her eye was more comfortable.

We’re delighted our model patient Babe (peep her in fashion magazines!) is now more active and brighter than ever. We’re so proud of this brave little bunny - and grateful to her wonderful owner for giving her such dedicated care.

Handsome Teddy is nine-years-young and was referred to us with a cough and a change to his meow. 🐱

Our Internal Medicine and Oncology teams came to the rescue. They ordered a CT scan of Teddy's chest, where our Imaging team identified a huge tumour near to the heart, causing fluid to build up around his lungs. The tumour was made up of the remnants of the thymus – an organ which is important for the immune system when young, but is supposed to disappear with age. In Teddy’s case it became a malignant tumour, which our Soft Tissue Surgeon Janet skilfully removed. The tumour weighed in at a huge 192g – making up 4% of Teddy’s tiny 5.2kg body weight!

Teddy bounced back quickly from his surgery and was back to his usual self in no time at all - we’re so happy this brave boy is recovering well.
