RSPCA - Wimbledon, Wandsworth & Sutton Branch

RSPCA - Wimbledon, Wandsworth & Sutton Branch We are the local branch of the RSPCA covering the Wimbledon, Wandsworth and Sutton areas in SW London. Registered Charity Number 210637

Welcome to the official page of the Wimbledon, Wandsworth & Sutton District branch of the RSPCA. We are a local, independent charity in South West London and parts of Surrey. Our two charity shops in Earlsfield and Wandsworth raise the crucial funds we need to rescue, rehabilitate & rehome many animals in our branch area. At any one time we can be looking after 30 to 40 cats who are waiting for ne

w homes. We also assist the Inspectorate team rescuing all sorts of animals. We need the support from our local community so we can continue our work & you may see us out & about fundraising. The RSPCA mission is to ensure animals have a good life by rescuing and caring for those in need, by advocating on behalf of all animals and by inspiring everyone to treat them with compassion and respect. Our branch area covers;

SW11 1-3, SW1A 0, SW15 1-6, SW18 1-5, SW19 1, SW19 3-8, SW20 0, SW20 8-9, SM1 1-4, SM2 5-7, SM3 8-9, SM4 4-6, SM5 1-4, SM6 0, SM6 7-9, KT4 7-8

This is where your amazing donations go…
We took this beautiful old boy in a few months ago 💔A nervous stray/feral who’d been living outside and was being fed by a concerned local. He’s around 11 and we named him Charles.

He had poor body condition and was drooling from the mouth; when examined the vets found his gums were bleeding and infected. He must have been in a lot of pain. All teeth on one side were extracted in one surgery then a second procedure two weeks later to do the other side, and it’s been a long recovery time for him.

It’s tricky with cats like Charles to know whether or not they will adapt to living in a home and he couldn’t live outside again and look after himself without his teeth! We think Charles understood that we were on his side though, as he became a lot calmer and more interactive as we got to know him.

Now in foster and being spoiled while he continues to build up, he’s turning into a lovely, friendly and chatty boy (especially at dinner time), who enjoys being brushed and is even getting brave enough to sleep on beds! We’ll keep you posted on his progress.

Please send our brave old boy some Christmas love! 🧡🧡🧡

It’s and please say hello to our special little girl Leah! Leah is unique; part black cat, part Furby toy. 🧸 She came to us from Finsbury Park hospital after arriving there with a jaw that had been broken at some point. The callus that formed while it was healing pushed her jaw forward, leaving her with an adorable underbite and some Furby traits. 🤗
The underbite doesn’t cause Leah any problems and she eats normally. She’s only one year old and is a gorgeous little cat who loves laps and cuddles and has soft long fur that needs to be groomed, (and is lovely to stroke!) and she has beautiful amber eyes. we think she’s one in a million, and she’s looking for a forever home! Someone’s going to be lucky with their unique Furby cat. 🦉 + 🐈‍⬛

We'd like to say a big thank you to the lovely team at Wags & Whiskers cat and dog grooming in Sutton for giving Demetrius a great hair cut! One of our 'permanent foster' cats, Demetrius isn't as mobile as he was and his splendid long fur gets knotted and uncomfortable without an occasional salon trip. He's obviously feeling great now! 😻

💜 As a cat rescue and rehoming charity it’s the time of year when we honour the contribution to the war effort by our favourite pet. Many people are not aware of the role they played in the war effort, along with dogs, horses and pigeons.
During WWI, it is estimated that around 500,000 cats were brought to the trenches, and many more served on Navy ships. They helped by killing rats and other vermin that spread disease, and were also sometimes used as gas detectors. A number of cats were born in the trenches and became mascots for the soldiers they were living with and some returned home with them after the war 💜

One famous cat named Simon was awarded the PDSA’s Dickin Medal - the highest British honour awarded for animal displays of bravery in battle - and the only cat to have ever won the prize. Simon served as a ship’s cat on HMS Amethyst in WWII, where he survived serious injuries from a cannon shell and continued his work raising morale on the ship, and killing off a large rat infestation during his service. He was promoted to Able Seaman by the crew. 💔
We’re very lucky that these amazing creatures allow us to share our lives with them. If you would like to help us to help them, then pls use the link to donate 🙏

Thank you to all the humans and animals who lost their lives in war. 💜

Our friends at RSPCA South London Branch are trying to find the person who purchased this jacket from their Upper Tooting Road shop as the lady who donated did so by mistake. Did you buy this jacket from their shop recently? Please get in touch with them.

Please get in touch if you bought this jacket from our Tooting shop recently. We’ll be happy to refund you so we can reunite the jacket with the original family. ❤️‍🩹
