Our friends at RSPCA South London Branch are hosting another cat microchipping event on Thursday, April 3 between 11am - 3pm at their Tooting charity shop, 71-73 Upper Tooting Road, SW17 7TW.

Since June 2024, microchipping has been a legal requirement for all pet cats in England. If your cat is not yet microchipped, this is the perfect opportunity to get it done at little-to-no cost by their trained Animal Welfare Officer.

For more information see their event listing ๐Ÿพ

We are hosting a free cat microchipping event to help those in our community keep their cats safe and sound!

For the Ted & Oliver fans; theyโ€™ve found a home!! ๐Ÿ™Œ Weโ€™re so happy for these two inseparable kitten bros who had a tough start in life. Little Ted (black & white) relies on his tabby brother for security and confidence and they love cuddling up and judging the world together, so a forever home where they could do just that was needed. Although they are beautiful, not everyone wants two kittens (why?!) so a special quiet home was needed and luckily they got one. Weโ€™re so happy for them and their new fam. We think Ted & Oliver are happy about it too but their faces are not giving anything awayโ€ฆ

The past few weeks have been kitten-rescue-tastic with many being rescued from multicat households and all rehoming centres are inundated. Please please neuter your cat(s)! ๐Ÿ™

There's a petition for cats under 6 months to be neutered, please sign and share. Kittens can be neutered safely from a very young age and be spared the unnecessary worry of unwanted attention and pregnancy's (often when they're just babies themselves).

We are calling on the government to introduce the mandatory neutering of cats by 6 months of age unless they are registered as licensed breeding cats. Some animal charities are being overwhelmed with abandoned cats and kittens.

Itโ€™s Valentineโ€™s Day and love (and kittens) are in the air ๐Ÿ’• but pleaseโ€ฆ a special plea from some of the munchkins and their mums that weโ€™ve taken in over the past 6 months; please neuter your cats. Please. Weโ€™ve been inundated with mums and kittens along with every other cat and kitten rescue, with many being rescued from multicat households in poor health.

Itโ€™s not very romantic to talk about but the health benefits of neutering a cat and kitten are numerous and include reducing the risk of tumours and certain cancers, for example mammary and testicular cancer. It also reduces a lot of the distressing behaviours associated with being โ€˜in heatโ€™ for females, and for male cats it reduces spraying in the house, (never pleasant), and roaming and fighting behaviours.

One last thing to consider; cats and kittens really donโ€™t enjoy being pregnant, take it from us. It isnโ€™t something they need or want to go through. So this Valentineโ€™s Day, treat your cat or kitten to a quick neutering op. Itโ€™s the most loving thing you can do for them. We promise! ๐Ÿ’“

Appeal for information - please share ๐Ÿ”

A Cane Corso puppy, believed to be around 14-16 weeks old, was found running loose near the Rochdale Canal in Oldham, in a severely neglected state on 17th January.

Now named Pearla, this poorly pup is suffering from untreated demodex mange, leaving her with incredibly sore skin and severe fur loss ๐Ÿ’”

A compassionate member of the public took her in until the dog warden arrived, and she then got lots of TLC from the amazing Manchester & Cheshire Dogs' Home team before coming to our animal hospital for ongoing veterinary care.

She was not microchipped, so please contact our appeals line on 0300 123 8018 if you have any information.

This is a sad story about a pair of 1 year old kittens that we hope will turn into a very happy one. These two beauties and best cuddle buddies, Minnie and Boots, were signed over to us with a number of injuries and needed care from RSPCA Finsbury Park hospital. We wonโ€™t dwell on their past, what you need to know is that despite what theyโ€™ve been through they are basically PERFECT and need a home. Cuddly, affectionate, love a duvet, love each other and their foster human, and pose brilliantly together for new album covers (as you can see).
They have different characters. Minnie, (1 eye), is still very much a playful toddler, while Boots, (amputated tail), is more wise and thoughtful with very important things to do. Their fosterer says; โ€œTheyโ€™re such gorgeous cats, so different but a perfect pairing. They are a healthy mix of joined at the hip and do their own thing - she likes to hug your arm, heโ€™s probably going to be a lap cat.โ€

Minnie missed Boots hugely when they had to be separated at hospital and their reunion was very sweet. They must be rehomed together and we wouldnโ€™t dream of splitting them up. Someone will be very lucky to live with them.๐Ÿ‘‡

When it comes to pet clothes, there is a big difference between comfort and vanity. As today is , we'd like to remind owners that dressing up your pet may seem harmless and a bit of fun, but unfortunately, it is often at your pet's expense ๐Ÿ˜ž

[Visual description: An infographic reads 'pet clothes - comfort vs. vanity'. On one side a Chihuahua dressed up in a dragon costume sits alongside the word 'vanity', and on the other a Vizsla wears a well-fitted dog coat alongside the word 'comfort'. Vanity points include: Unventilated costumes and clothing could cause pets to overheat. Movement and body language is restricted. This could make other animals act aggressively towards your pet. Clothes can be itchy when your pet is trying to rest. Clothes can get in the way of everyday actions such as going to the toilet, causing stress and aggravation. Loose parts could get tangled or caught up. They might also be a choking hazard Comfort points include: Clothes such as high visibility jackets can help to keep pets safe. Their body language is not restricted and can be easily read. Pets are able to regulate their temperature accordingly. Outdoor coats are taken off and surgical vests are often ventilated. They can move properly and can do normal things like walking, grooming and toileting.]
