Dogs played a vital role in both World War I and World War II, serving in a variety of roles including:

💜Search and rescue: Dogs' keen sense of smell helped locate wounded soldiers and civilians in need of assistance.

♥️Message carrying: Dogs were used to carry messages in battle, and some could even pull telephone lines.

💜Guard dogs: Dogs guarded supplies and alerted soldiers to the approach of enemy troops.

♥️Combat dogs: Dogs directly attacked enemy troops.

💜Medical supplies: Red Cross dogs were trained to deliver medical supplies to injured soldiers.

♥️Land mine sniffing: Dogs were used to sniff out land mines.

💜Animal mascots: Dogs were popular with soldiers from both sides, building morale and creating a feeling of home.

♥️Rat catching: Small dogs were used to catch rats in the trenches of World War I.

💜Transporting loads: Dogs were used to haul machine gun and supply carts, and to transport loads over snow and through craters.
