⭐️Rabbits need a minimum of 60sq foot of space, at ALL times⭐️

“Our The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund recommended living area for 2 average sized rabbits (and they should be kept at least in pairs) is a single enclosed area of at least 3m x 2m by 1m high.

⭐️This can include the sleeping quarters, and makes up a footprint (accessible area of the ground or floor) of 3m x 2m.

⭐️It’s important for the rabbits that this 3m x 2m footprint is in a single block of space because it allows them to display positive behaviours, for example, to run rather than just hop.

⭐️The upper floor of a two-storey hutch does NOT count towards the footprint. Similarly, whilst raised platforms, tunnels and other connected areas are great for enrichment and are actively encouraged, they do not count towards the footprint.

⭐️Please note that the 3m length is important as this allows the rabbits to run and not just take a few hops. We sometimes see 60sq ft of space being referred to as the minimum guideline, but this does not always meet the minimum guidelines, for example 8ft x 8ft would be 64ft, but there is not a 3m length in that set up.⭐️

About me

Here at Little house of bonding I have experience with all types of animals from fluffy rabbits right through to wriggly cockroaches! I am a huge animal lover and always have been since a small child when I got my first pet, a mouse! Through the years of pet ownership I came to realize that not everybody who owns pets has the experience/knowledge needed to care for them properly so love nothing more than to share as much information as possible and answer any questions to ensure all pets get the life they deserve to truly be happy, meaning owners get the most out of their furry friends. My goal is to help all owners meet the five welfare needs for their pets. Sometimes one of the most difficult needs to meet is the need to be housed with other animals, as bonding is not always a straight forward process. This is were I come in! Rabbits, Guinea pigs, chinchillas, mice and rats are my strength when it comes to bonding having done it so many times for my own pets as well as family and friends, however Degus and gerbils and ferrets are also possible to be bonded. Five welfare needs:

  • need for a suitable environment.

  • need for a suitable diet.

  • need to be able to exhibit normal behavior patterns.
