They’re here! These 24 ladies are in remarkable condition. They came from an organic freerange farm and whilst some of them are thin and have very pale combs most are well featherrd and robust. They were making plenty of noise, drinking plenty of water and scratching within seconds of coming out of their boxes. Our original five are most unimpressed and are hiding out under Gary’s truck. If you’d like to help out with a food donation (£8 per bag) then my PayPal is [email protected]. Thank you so much to those who have already donated. It’s always very, very much appreciated.

Not Shaun the Sheep at all but Lionel (what was I thinking this morning? Must have been early!). May I introduce you to Lionel the pole dancing sheep!! You’re welcome! X
Hippy Chick is a very special chicken. When she arrived it was clear something was wrong. Basically she struggles with her balance and walking and as a result is very unsteady on her feet. Our other ladies pick on her because she’s different and because she knocks into them (unintentionally, of course). So, Hippy Chick has her own separate indoor house and outside house so she can be with the ladies but in no danger of getting pecked continually.
Whilst it’s easy to feel sorry for her because of her disability she is a very opinionated lady! She tells us exactly what she wants, where she wants it and when! Today, for instance, she decided that the weather looks a little inclement and decided to have a duvet day inside. No amount of bribery could get her to shift so indoors she stays with a piece of corn on the cob and a fresh hay bed!
The money that’s donated or raised through our various auctions and other fundraisers goes directly to our animals - animals like Hippy Chick, ensuing they can live their best lives in safety for the rest of their days.
Thank you for your ongoing support. It really does mean the world. X
Commuting… it can be a real pain. However, here at Home In The Hills Animal Sanctuary our commute is just lovely. Gary Coulsby escorted our fabulous Mrs Pig amd ‘the boys’ - Connor, Wyatt, Lemmy, Curley Simon and Pedwar Bryn - our fabulous five goats to their breakfast and fields.
The boys invariably hop over into Mrs Pigs field and spend the afternoon with her. They wait for her to come out of her stable and follow her up to the fields. They live next door to each other and really seem to enjoy each other’s company. Mrs Pig is definately in charge thought - oh yes! The goats respect her hugely, it’s lovely to see!
Samantha Baker - can you spot your boy Lemmy? He says, ‘come visit me soon’ x
