Talbontdrain Guest House

Talbontdrain Guest House Remote and comfortable guesthouse in the middle of nowhere! Borrow a dog for walks. Great home coo So here’s a tip, slow down, stay two days.

This is what the Rough Guide to the best places to stay in Britain said:

The lane narrows until you’re hemmed in by hedgerows. The last house was way back, just when you’ve given up hope, the route darts uphill and you’re at a white painted farmhouse. Even in a Welsh mist it hints at Arcadia, while in sunshine, with silence and views to the Cambrian mountains, it is bliss. Notwithstanding the coc

kerel for an alarm clock, peace reigns supreme at Talbontdrain, Personality does, too, thanks to charming, child-friendly Hilary Matthews. She greets guests like old friends and has the same informality as her décor; a mix-and-match of antique armchairs and pretty watercolours. The loveliest room (en suite) retains original Arts and Crafts furniture. This feels more relaxed home-from-home than B&B, especially so at meals, when guests linger to swap stories over the home cooking. A pretty cottage garden segues into rural hills, and Hilary can pack you a lunch then direct you onto the many walking tracks hereabouts. Many first-timers treat Talbontdrain as an overnight stop en route to somewhere else, then beg to extend their stay when they realise what they’re leaving behind – too late, though, as rooms are invariably booked. Better still, stay three.

Bellfield Brewery

At Bellfield Brewery we're launching a campaign to support our local food banks and people in desperate need across Edinburgh, who need our support never more so than now.

Swing by our yard in Abbey Hill, on your bike, in the car or on foot and drop off a tin of fish, meat, veg, pulses or fruit (10-4 Mon-Fri and 12-4 weekends). No baked beans thanks - they have enough! Drop off you tins for local Food Banks and get a free can of beer. There's a covered drop off area in our yard so it's quick and easy and no contact is required! 😀🍻

Just walked a bit of the newly opened Wales Coastal Path, It goes round the whole coast of Wales, I just did Borth to Machynlleth and it was stunningly beautiful, incredible views, bluebells under new beech leaves, primroses and enough up and down foe 14 miles to keep your legs happy. Come and do it, you will be glad to did. AND the sun was shining!

It seems that for the first time, we have a breeding pair of ospreys on the Dyfi. At least there is a pair who are very interested in each other, but no eggs yet. There are cameras on the nest, and you can watch them from the hide, very exciting.

So hot! 27degrees in the polytunnel today, can't stay in, the garden is calling.
