🐍 S N A K E S 🐍
I haven't seen any snakes in the last three years but this week I saw an adder!

*What to do in the case of a dog being bitten......
Remain calm, rinse the bite wound with cold clean water to rinse away some venom, keep your dog as calm and as still as possible, carry your dog if possible to reduce the venom spread. Treat all snake bites as a matter of emergency and take your dog straight to a vet. If your dog is not breathing remain calm and ring your vet, they will talk you through canine CPR over the phone.

*How will you know if your dog has been bitten?
Puncture wounds
Swelling
Trembling or shaking
Wobbly gait
Not weight bearing on a limb

Reassuring facts:
On average only 100 snake bites in dogs are reported every year....in the whole of the UK.
On average less than 1 in 20 dog snake bites are fatal.

Common sense:
If you see a snake when out with your dog don't hang around taking photos, move yourself and your dog away from the snake so your dog's curious nature doesn't get him/her in the statistics above.
