Meet Sky! ✨💛 Sky is a beautiful Labrador Retriever who recently came to me for an initial assessment session after being referred by canine behaviourist Paul Lasky 😊 Sky was referred for a physiotherapy assessment to check for any signs of pain to determine whether this could be a contributing factor to her behavioural concerns. After a thorough assessment and discussion with Sky's owners, it was concluded that Sky is comfortable, not currently showing signs of pain and is a healthy young Labrador! Therefore, Sky's owners will continue to work with a canine behaviourist to get to the bottom of her behaviours. Good luck to Sky and her owners - She's such a lovely girl! 🥰💛

Meet Finley! 🩶😍 Finley is a gorgeous Deerhound who recently came in for a follow-up session to treat any areas of concern after he recently became lame in the right forelimb. Finley is definitely an exciting case to work with, especially due to being one of the largest dogs I currently treat! He's such a friendly boy 🐾 Finley received the following treatments:
✨Laser therapy
✨Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMFT)
✨Massage therapy
✨Gentle passive range of motion exercises
These treatments targeted areas of excessive tension, signs of acute pain and joint restrictions. Finley's owner has mentioned that Finley's lameness has reduced drastically (no longer head nodding during movement!) and that he's overall doing much better already! His owners have been left with home therapies to continue to target his areas of discomfort further and to maintain health of the affected soft tissue.

Meet the lovely Beano!🤍🐴

Beano recently has his initial physiotherapy assessment. During his assessment, Beano was found to have excessive tension present within his spinal musculature, with trigger points and muscular spasms present throughout, which was the main area of focus for treatment in the session. Beano received laser therapy, PEMFT and massage therapy to the spinal musculature to promote blood flow, increase muscular pliability and to reduce his trigger points. Beano accepted the treatment very well, and I look forward to seeing his progression! 😄 isn't he just so handsome!?

Meet the gorgeous Tess! 🖤🐾

Tess recently had a combined physiotherapy and hydrotherapy session during her holiday at Clark's Farm Greyhound Rescue. Upon assessment, Tess was quite restricted within her shoulder joints, with trigger points/muscular spasms found in the nearby spinal musculature. As a result of these findings, Tess received the following treatments to target her areas of weakness:

Meet the beautiful Sophie! 💛🐾😍

Sophie receives both physiotherapy and hydrotherapy treatments on a regular basis to help manage her arthritis. During her first session, it was observed that she was quite limited in her hock (ankle) mobility due to arthritic changes present in the joints. As a result, she lacked engagement in the hindlimbs, had a lowered posture in the hindlimbs, reduced tone of the hindlimb musculature, and had excessive tension within the forelimb musculature.

Sophie receives a wide variety of treatments in her sessions, including:
✨Laser therapy
✨Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT)
✨Massage therapy
✨Passive range of motion exercises
✨Weight shifting exercises
✨Hydrotherapy

After just a few sessions, we are already starting to see Sophie improve well! Sophie is now lifting her hindlimbs more, has reduced muscular tension in the forelimbs, and the joint mobility of both hock joints has begun to increase! I am so pleased with the progress she has made and cannot wait to see her progress further in the future. Well done to Sophie's owners for sticking to her home therapy plan, she's doing brilliantly! 🥰

Meet the beautiful Bubbles! 🖤🩶🤍 Bubbles recently had an initial assessment session after her owner had reached out as she'd noticed increased sensitivity around the poll area and potential discomfort of the right hindlimb. Bubbles did very well for her first session!

There were various findings noted during the assessment, including:
🐴 Reduced muscular mass of the lower portion of the neck (dorsally)
🐴 Increased muscular tension around the poll and at the base of the neck
🐴 Slight pelvic asymmetry
🐴Reduced muscular mass of the right hindlimb, particularly in the Gluteals and Quadriceps
🐴 Sensitivity around the poll, particularly during palpation or when putting a head collar on
🐴 Reduced joint mobility throughout the neck, stifle (knee) and hip joints

Bubble's first session was heavily assessment based, but following the assessment she received laser therapy to target the sensitivity and muscular tension within the neck/poll. She also received some gentle massage in these areas. Bubble's owner has been left with some home therapies to target these areas further before her next session, with the aims to make her more comfortable, improve joint mobility and overall improve her movement when being ridden. I look forward to seeing Bubbles progress further over time! 🖤🩶🤍

Meet the beautiful Fudge! 🤎 Fudge is a lovely 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier who underwent surgery for her luxating patella in both knee joints - with the weaker, right knee being at a grade 3. A patella luxation occurs when the knee cap slides out of place, usually during flexion (closure) of a joint, which can cause pain and further issues such as arthritis later down the line. Fudge's owners opted for surgery of both knees, as she's such a young dog she's been a great candidate for this surgery and has shown immense progress in such a short period of time. Fudge underwent surgery in January of this year, and started her physiotherapy journey with me at the end of February.

On her initial assessment, some of these main observations were noted:
🐾 Excessive weight bearing onto the forelimbs
🐾 Increased muscular tension within the forelimbs
🐾 Reduced mobility of both knee joints
🐾 Muscular tension of the spinal musculature, with trigger points throughout
🐾 Tension in the lower hips, resulting in reduced hip extension
🐾 Reduced muscular mass of the Quadriceps, due to reduced use of the knee joints during movement following surgery
🐾 Excessive muscular tension of the Hamstrings

As a result, Fudge's treatment consisted of a wide variety of modalities to target her areas of weakness and discomfort, including:
🌟Laser therapy
🌟Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT)
🌟Heat therapy
🌟Massage therapy
🌟Stretching
🌟Passive range of motion exercises
🌟Poles
🌟Sit to Stands
🌟Weight shifting exercises
🌟Weaves

After her most recent session last week, it's hard to tell she ever had issues with her luxating patellas at all. Fudge's owners have been so dedicated to her rehabilitation over the past few months, and as a result, Fudge has now been able to return to her normal activities, including playing off-lead with her brother Smudge the Chihuahua! It has been a pleasure to watch Fudge progress and to work with her lovely owners to ensure she's comfortable and progressing as she should be. Fudge now continues to receive maintenance physiotherapy sessions to ensure that her condition is maintained and to overall keep her feeling good! Well done Fudge!🤎💪

Meet the gorgeous Lenny 🤍

Lenny came in for his first session recently to have a check-over and some TLC! Upon assessment, Lenny was found to have some tension within his hips and lower back musculature, which slightly restricted the extension of his hips. Lenny also lacked muscular tone of the forelimbs (Triceps in particular!). Lenny received laser therapy, PEMFT, massage and stretching to target his areas of weakness. Lenny's owners have also been left with some home therapies to target these areas between maintenance sessions, with some exercises to target muscular strengthening within the forelimbs. Lenny's owners are brilliant at keeping up with their home therapies for their other lovely hound Emily, so I have no doubt that I'll see improvements in his next session!💪 Overall, Lenny did brilliantly for his first session, and took to the hydrotherapy spa like a champ! Well done Lenny! 🌟

🥇Huge congratulations to Herbie and his owner Roxie for placing 1st in one of their recent classes! 🥇

Herbie receives monthly maintenance sessions to keep him in top condition by improving suppleness, muscular tone and reducing areas of tension. Herbie is a star during his sessions and he is very lucky to have such a dedicated owner who follows home therapies between sessions to support Herbie. Herbie receives laser therapy, PEMFT, massage, stretching and performs various dynamic mobilisation exercises during his session - After only having had 2 sessions so far, he is already starting to show brilliant signs of progress and has improved in suppleness. Well done Herbie & Roxie!

Meet the gorgeous Herbie! 🤍

Herbie had an initial assessment session with me this week, and he behaved brilliantly for his first physiotherapy session! Herbie does not have any previous or existing conditions, and is in great health overall. Herbie's owner wanted him to have a full assessment to look for any areas of weakness (e.g. areas of tension, reduced muscular mass, joint limitations, etc.) to ensure that he's kept comfortable and in top condition. From the assessment, it was clear that Herbie had quite a bit of sensitivity around his withers (near the base of the neck) to the pelvis, which carried on throughout the spine as many trigger points were present and he intermittently dipped away from touch at the pelvis. He also held some tension in the upper neck musculature, specifically surrounding the poll. Herbie received laser therapy treatment to these areas to promote comfort, reduce reactivity and promote general tissue health. Which as you can see, he absolutely loved! He also received PEMFT to reduce any discomfort present within the spine.

Herbie's owner has been left with a home therapy plan consisting of various therapies and exercises to target the areas found within this session - He was also receive regular physiotherapeutic maintenance sessions to keep him in great shape! 💪

Meet the stunning Dancer! 🤍✨(Joined by her best friend Secret)🥰

Dancer recently had an initial physiotherapy assessment session following an appointment with her veterinarian. Dancer has been having issues with her right hindlimb since her vaccinations a few months ago - And she now has some oedema/scar tissue within the injected musculature, which has not resolved over time. Dancer also has areas of compensations elsewhere, such as discomfort during palpation of the lower limb (her fetlock joint in particular), areas of discomfort within the effected musculature, excessive tension of the forelimb musculature and reduced muscular mass of the back. Dancer's treatment consisted of laser therapy, PEMFT, massage therapy and dynamic mobilisation exercises! Dancer's owner will be following a home therapy plan and Dancer will receive regular sessions to target the issue and main areas of weakness. I look forward to watching her progress & get back into her showing condition!🐴🤍

Meet the handsome Buddy!🤍 (Appropriately named after Buddy the elf🎄 - he's such a happy boy!)

Buddy recently had an initial assessment session to check for any areas of weakness, tension, or potentially painful areas causing his behavioural changes. Buddy did very well in his first session! He took to the assessment like a pro and he had minimal areas for concern. Buddy had some muscular tension in the base of the neck, with some crepitus and minor limitations in the wrist. Buddy received some laser therapy to treat these areas. Overall, Buddy has great muscular mass and joint mobility and his owners have been left with some home therapies to target areas of tension and to promote joint mobility of the wrist. Well done Buddy!🤍🥰

Tongue out Tuesday from Grace! 🤍😋

Grace has been coming for regular physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions for almost a year now! She has come so far following her surgery - I'm so proud of Grace! Her owner has been very dedicated to her rehabilitation and has supported Grace to get to the point she is today. She's the sweetest little pug and it's been a pleasure to treat her on a regular basis to aid with her recovery 🥰🤍 Grace continues to come in regularly to continue to build muscular strength and to ensure she's coping well. Meet Treacle! 🤎🐾

Treacle is a lovely 5-year-old Border Terrier who recently had his first physiotherapy session to assess for areas of potential pain. After a thorough assessment, it was clear that Treacle was quite comfortable and did not demonstrate any obvious signs of pain! 🥳

Treacle did have some areas of tension within the middle of his spine, along with some trigger points and sensitivity which were treated with laser therapy. Treacle also had some tension within the forelimb musculature, which was targeted with some laser therapy and massage therapy. Treacle's owners have been left with various home therapies and exercises to target the areas of weakness found within the assessment and to maintain his physical condition. Treacle will continue to receive regular maintenance sessions to enhance his strength, reduce tension and to keep him in great shape!💪😁

Meet the beautiful Phoenix! 🧡 Phoenix receives regular physiotherapy sessions to target her areas of weakness, tension and discomfort. Phoenix has quite tight musculature, as a result her joints are not always able to perform their full range of motion, therefore she can become quite restricted. These areas of tension appear to be prominent within the hindlimbs, particularly restricting the knee joints. Phoenix also has tendonitis within her wrist joints, intermittently having acute flare ups which may cause lameness or discomfort.

Her sessions consist of:
🐶 Laser therapy - To target muscular tension, joint mobility and to relieve compensatory trigger points throughout the back musculature
🐶 Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT) - To target areas of discomfort within the lower back and wrist joints
🐶 Massage therapy - To promote blood flow and improve muscular health & overall pliability, allowing for the joints to move more freely
🐶 Stretching - To promote muscular pliability and improve joint mobility
🐶 Passive range of motion exercises - To maintain and promote joint health, to prevent the thickening of the wrist joints from reduced use

Overall, Phoenix benefits from various aspects of physiotherapy treatment and she has shown great improvements alongside the use of medication. Well done Phoenix! 🥰

Meet Buck! 💙 In his assessment, Buck had some tension, muscular spasms and trigger points within his lower back and hip musculature. As a result, Buck avoided extension of his hips and lacked engagement during movement. Buck's session consisted of some laser therapy, PEMFT, massage therapy and various exercises to target these findings. He absolutely loved the treatment session (and all of the gravy bone treats too of course!) - He began to feel more comfortable following his treatment and relaxed into it very well.

Buck is still looking for his forever home at Clarks Farm Rehoming Centre, if you would be interested in rehoming this sweet boy make sure to get in touch! He's their longest resident and will be coming up to the one year mark soon, which is hard to believe! Could you be his perfect match? 🏡🐾

Meet Vinnie! 💜🐾 Vinnie is a 2 year old French Bulldog who receives regular physiotherapy sessions to treat his intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). Vinnie currently has no sensation or movement from the middle of the spine to his back end. Therefore, he unfortunately is unable to use his hindlimbs. Vinnie's treatment and home therapies are quite intensive and consist of the following:
🌟Laser therapy
🌟Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT)
🌟Massage therapy
🌟Stretching
🌟Passive range of motion exercises
🌟Assisted standing, weight shifting and walking exercises
🌟Weight shifting exercises
🌟Heat therapy
🌟Tactile stimulation

Although he has a long road to recovery ahead, Vinnie has started to show hopeful signs of progress. Vinnie has recently tried to stand on his own as he attempts to flex his hips to push himself up. He also is able to weight bear with minimal support for a few moments, in comparison to depending on complete support from a handler. These are some of his small successes, although every sign of progress is a step in the right direction - Great job Vinnie! I look forward to seeing his progress over the course of his treatment.
