Karma thinks he's found the perfect spot, lay on the hay in a patch of sun 🌞.

Decided he looked so sweet, I wouldn't tell him hay is for eating!

It's not a horsey post, but a thank you to the local community.

As animal lovers, we can be called upon to help animals other than horses. We try to help wherever we can or signpost to others who might be able to do so.

Recently, we had some stray cats move into our hay barn. After knocking on the doors of local houses and searching lost pet sites, no owner could be found. We fed the cats for a few weeks, trying to tame them. This didn't work as well as we would have liked, and as the kittens grew, we knew we needed to act soon or potentially risk more kittens as the baby ones were getting bigger.

We called upon locals who came to our sides with cat traps and cameras. After spending a weekend watching and baiting the traps, we managed to catch all three. Turns out the kittens were little girls, too. Off to the vets they went, to be neutered and vaccinated and have since been homed to continue their rehabilitation, and so far, they are doing well, growing in confidence and size! πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸˆβ€β¬›

Even more recently, we spent over an hour after dark following, tracking and catching a stray dog. Turns out the poor thing had been spooked by another dog whilst on her walk and had bolted. We found her running in and out of traffic. Five other people stopped and I'm incredibly grateful to the ladies who left me a dog lead and some dog treats (I was not in my field car so completely ill-equipped) but their help did mean that once I got close enough to the dog (in a hedge 🀣) I could catch her safely until then, my plan was to use my scarf πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ. After taking her to the vets, she was chip scanned and happily reunited with her owners within 20 minutes.πŸ•πŸ™Œ

At times like this, I'm reminded of what a lovely community we have around us. Without people like these willing to stop and help, at short notice, giving up their time, then the outcomes could be so different.

Thank you again to everyone, and please keep up the good work. Even the smallest of actions have the greatest effect.

The fog bought a little bit of mystery to the fields today.

As much as I'm not a fan of the very cold temperatures we're experiencing, at least the frost is giving us a bit of rest from the mud in the high footfall (hoof fall?) areas. Every cloud!!!

Pickles just had to come in for a close-up and show off his frosted whiskers!

Wishing all of you a fabulous Christmas.

We hope you have spent the day making great memories and in the company of loved ones, be that friends, family, or the four-legged ones.

After mucking out, we tried the wrapping paper burst with Babe, she was not keen. This is the aftermath and the best we could do!

Looking forward to the future.

The darling little Chester recently went off to his new loan home.

Apparently, he is already a hit with the other people on the yard, which comes as no surprise to us, such a gentle soul.

Wishing him all the very best with his new friend.

Quite literally making hay while the sun shines!

The last few weeks, contractors have been out in the fields, cutting, turning, and baling our hay.

Feels great to have some in the barns ready. This won't last all winter, but it's a start!

If you'd like to help towards the hay bill, please do... https://www.paypal.com/gb/fundraiser/charity/3197813

Today, we have rehomed the Beautiful Ruby.
Ruby has gone to a local home where she will be keeping G company after his fieldmate moved away.

She and I took an at liberty jog round the track system they have so she could get used to the layout and the new space.

A super lovely pony that will be missed but so pleased for her to go on to another home. Living with G and loaner PT where she will be loved and cared for.

Thank you for all of your support that helps us continue our work helping these amazing animals.

Wishing Rubes her very best life!

Happy Birthday to Sue, our charity founder! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚

Despite the non-stop work, we try to find ways to have fun. Today, Sue shared her cake with the lovely Ruby (who wasn't a fan!)

In typical Sue style, she's declined any gifts but would truly appreciate any donations to the charity as we prepare for winter by cutting and baling hay.

Let's show her some birthday love! πŸŽ‚

Another one of 'those' National days...

No horsing around – today is an opportunity for you to be a good β€˜neeeiiigh-bor’ as it’s...

National Help A Horse Day! 🐎

This important occasion aims to raise awareness of the struggles that equines all over the world face and contribute to efforts saving them from cruel and inhumane situations.

We have been on the front line at dozens of horse rescues, seeing things I hope to forget from extreme neglect to problems caused by simple ignorance and horses loose on roads.

The plus side is seeing how these beautiful delicate animals can have their lives turned around and come out stronger, braver and trusting in people again.

No, I'm not asking you to go out and rescue a pony today but if you can do anything to help one, like drop a donation to your local horse charity then please do.

Sacks of feed and bales of hay also count!

Reusing a video of Spirit on her journey to her new home for this post.

The follower 'fanks' goes out today for this lovely sketch of Sue with Cody. This was sent to us along with another sketch from AGW, which we will share in the coming weeks too.

The photo was printed in one of the local newspapers probably or , but it's so long ago I can't remember. Happy to be corrected and apologies for not being able to name the photographer.

A really beautiful sketch, even before we saw the attached photo, we knew who the handsome pony in the drawing was.

Thank you

Today's gift from our followers is a beautiful painting of Gemma.

Not a horsey one but one of the workers. Gemma loves her job, helping us move the horses between fields or bringing them over for feeds, closer to catch for the farrier and various visitors.

This painting came all the way from Canada and is taken from one of the photos we have posted of Gemma...no doubt when she was climbing up the hay bales, checking their quality.

Thank you to all our incredible followers.

Just wanted to share a short post to express some February "fanks".

Your support means the world to us. We have been quiet lately on here, but the work goes on in the fields.

We get sent some lovely letters, drawings and most recently this beautiful piece of 'poartry'. Over the next few weeks, We'd like to share some of these with you.

Thank you to Tim for writing and sharing this poem and for the inspiration to post.
