It’s not all about riding when it comes to creating a confident, young horse in the school. Even with the awful weather Thor behaved impeccably.
The aim of our session was to have some greater impulsion from the hind end and have Thor think about where his feet are being placed.
These exercises were done in both walk and trot.
Nice little video captured by mum ; canter getting stronger and stronger each time we attempt it . Well done team !! ❤️
Beginner Polework Session (Young Horse).
Tiera and Raven are a young ridden duo meaning that Polework , balance training ect is all very new.
Each week we try and introduce them both to new techniques in schooling.
With Raven being a younger horse we emphasise the training on strength building, straightness and asking Raven to use her brain when schooling, working along aside Tiera’s guidance.
🔥Big stretch incoming 🔥
I absolutely love it when my clients send me videos of their progress before our next lesson …. so proud of these two from one lesson this lovely rider and her gelding have gotten a lovely and relaxed trot where he is able to stretch and find a comfy head carriage. His rider has been able to find a comfy yet effective position, one in which benefits herself and the horse 🐎 ❤️.
What a lovely place to teach, even in the rain , sessions never stop. ❤️
Another clip from tonight’s pole work session with Lauren and the lovely Lily. This session we worked on increasing mental stimulation as well as both horse and riders fitness. Both did amazing, well done ❤️ #horses#polework#horses
Lovely little video from tonight with Lauren and Lilly, polework session to increase mental stimulation and fitness.
Today my lovely client let her younger brother Arnie have a lesson, his first proper riding lesson.
I urge people to ride with proper riding gear but as Arnie was only on for a small amount of times his shorts were not a large problem.
Arnie did super and managed to learn how to nudge effectively and hold his reins properly whilst riding. Arnie also learnt how to sit correctly in the saddle whilst riding and to maintain a good riding posture.
Charlie also worked really hard and was a saint to ride… the perfect child’s pony🐴.
A lot of work to go but for a first riding lesson he did absolutely phenomenal and should be very proud of himself.
On Tuesday I decided to take a break from teaching and join my yard on the ”Yard Beach Day”.
It was a brilliant day full of laughs and amazing gallops and I enjoyed spending time with my number one boy.
Pudding was impeccably behaved and even jumped some obstacles on the beach to show off to his friends.
Back to work this week and hopefully we will be back at the beach very soon.💖
Lovely lesson with Jack and Imogen, working on our trot pole work, trot work and straightness. Happy with how both performed and was a very fun lesson, poor Jack was knackered by the time this clip was taken but he did very well and tried his best like always.
Well done to both horse and rider 🤍
See you soon xox
Tonights starter set up 😌🤍
Lovely video from our session today … polework and balance work, creating a more confident horse over poles and obstacles. ⛅️💓
First time at canter-poles and don’t these two look fabulous, working on confidence and preserving power for when we need it, whilst also working on half halts and better contact throughout the ridden session, well done to Jessica and her gorgeous mare once again.
Weekly lesson with my client Nicole and her horse Badger, this weeks lesson was all about resetting the lower leg and heel.
Many people are taught that ‘heels down’ helps you and to an extent is does but when your heel drops too low it can start to do more harm than good and it can start to deform a stronger structure that you need for basic riding.
This week me and Nicole had a chat and we have started to break the lower leg habit and I’m proud to say she picked it up like a dream with 90% of the lesson having a stronger lower leg.
We also talked about keeping our feet forward as if we are a train on a track, wanting to move with the horse not against them. Whilst also working on contact, “hugging our horses belly” instead of relentless nudging, keeping a consistent contact all the way through the lesson. Which again both rider and horse picked up very well 👌🏼.
We have also started to work on our straightness on entry to the jump and exit but also working on preserving our power and making sure we have enough time to fix anything that may go wrong, half halting, decreasing the likellyhood of rushing due to excitement. Which again was picked up very easily by both horse and rider.
I have seen some amazing improvement in both attitude and riding ability from both horse and rider and I am very proud that Nicole and Badger have been able to come this far in such little time.
Next week we will be working more on our entry and exit from jumps and pole work. Looking forward to it. 💓
Nothing scares me more than almost being savaged by this mighty beast after a lesson. Deffo put me in my place 😂.
Look at the lovely Badger 🦡 and Nicole having a lovely jump session 💓the lovely lad was a very good boy all lesson.
Snow lesson with Molly May Healey and her lovely girl Dolly 💓
Polework Duo
Working on being straight all the way through
Allowing our horses to carry themselves
Building more muscle on the left rein
Was a lovely lesson, I enjoyed myself making little pole patterns 😂
