Its that time of the month again,
Super pet of the month!
Each month we will be highlighting one pet who has been a really good patient for both us and their parents while being treated for a range of different issues.
This Months Super pet of the month is one who stands out for a few different reasons .
Firstly they are called Lady but happen to be a male and now after treatment he is a one eyed cat.
Luke and Mel were called out to see Lady as he had a mass on his eye and it was affecting his daily life.
Luke and Mel went to see him and gave him some medication before returning a little while later to remove the mass and eye so it would no longer bother him.
Lady behaved perfectly for all of his treatment and even his recovery despite not liking having to wear his collar and not being allowed outside for a while to see his friends.
As you can imagine him and his mum were very happy when he was discharged from his treatment and was allowed to go out again and enjoy the summer.
Well Done Lady (and his mum) :-)

What is the one thing that is cuter than a puppy? A whole beautiful litter of 8 week old puppies.
Luke and Mel were lucky enough to be asked to see a whole litter of baby cocker spaniels yesterday.
Each of the puppies received a full health check and the 1st injection of their vaccine course as well as lots and lots of cuddles.
Their health checks included checking heart and respiratory rates, eyes, ears and teeth. All of them are fighting fit and ready for new homes!
I am sure everyone is as jealous as the reception team for missing out on those puppy cuddles.

Pet loss prevention month!
Losing our pets is terrible thought for most pet owners but as they say prevention is better than cure.
We have many different ways to help stop pets going missing such as microchipping Dogs, cats and Rabbits. Please make sure the chip details are correct and updated at all times, if your pet goes missing and is handed in to a vet practice they will check the chip on arrival so you are contacted as quickly as possible.

It is also advised that Cats and dogs wear collars with owners basic details on such as owners surname, post code and contact number. Birds should also have rings on their legs with an ID number so if they are found an owner can be called instantly.

If you do happen to loose your pet weather on a walk, missing from home or escaping the house owners are advised to contact all local vet practices and report them as missing most practices keep detailed logs of lost or found pets. The microchip database you pet is on should also be notified.

Along side all of these you can report a missing dog to your local dog warden and lost cats to the local branch of the CPL.
We hope this never happens but if it dose we hope these tips will help get your pet back home.

Patient of month !
Meet Jarvis, this beautiful handsome cat who has seen Luke and Mel a few times over the last month or so due to him having a lump on his ear that worried his humans.

Luke successfully removed the lump and Jarvis was left to recover at home with his humans, while recovering he has been such a good boy and now back to full health.

Well done Jarvis ( and his humans) for being such a good patient and we hope you enjoy the rest of your summer relaxing in the sun with your family.

We have got you covered!
Luke and Nicole went out on Friday to give our new friends Ethel and Harold their 2nd and Kennel cough vaccines - this means they are covered for all of the dangerous diseases that put dogs at risk such as leptospirosis, distemper, infectious hepatitis, parvovirus and kennel cough.
Having these vaccines not only covers them against these illnesses but gives their family peace of mind when going to new places and meeting new friends.
Now Ethel and Harold can spend the summer going on adventures without worry, have fun and we will see you next year for your boosters!

Its a full house !
Luke and Mel have been out making new friends again. They popped over to Denton to meet the adorable Charlie, the basset hound puppy, and his new family. He's in very good company with his brother and sister basset hounds - Bobby and Ruby. Charlie also has his cousins Harold, the bloodhound, and Ethel, the great Dane, to play with and no doubt cause trouble with them. I think we can all agree he will grow up in very good company.

Having all of the vaccines done not only at home but at the same time saves them time and a lot of stress to both the dogs and humans involved.
All the team at My Visit Vet are looking forward to watching Charlie grow up!

Meet our lovely new friend Pipin.
Pipin's Mum and Dad called us on Monday after Pipin had gained a mystery injury to his paw that needed to be seen, however due to Pipin being a large nervous dog his parents worried about taking him to a vet practice as he gets so very stressed around new people and new environments.
so they called us to have Pipin's poorly foot treated at home to help keep his stress levels as low as possible.
Pipin wasn't sure of Luke and Mel at first but as you can tell after a quick shoe investigation and a quick lick they became friends.
So with treatment and medication on board he's on his way to recovery. Good Boy Pipin.
If you feel your pet would benefit from a home visit please don't hesitate to get in touch on 0161 7915636 to book an appointment in your own home.

Don't look so worried!
This big beautiful face looking a little worried is our friend Chase, Luke and Mel have been to see him on Friday for his castration, he looked a little concerned but he is being reassured by Luke and Mel that everything will be fine.
Because chase is having his treatment carried out in our purpose built mobile clinic at his home he can sleep in his own bed with is family looking after him while he recovers and no stressful visit to the vets, and we are sure he will be getting extra treats this weekend.
If the idea of having your pet treated at home to reduce stress for your pet please contact us on 0161 7915636 or send us a message via facebook.
We hope you and your pets have a lovely weekend

Last week we were filmed for ITV! It was lovely chatting with Siham and discussing the progress of the business so far, and how we've been helping anxious pets who struggle with visiting a traditional vet's clinic.
We're hoping we'll be on Granada tonight at 6pm this evening. Keep an eye out for us!

This was a new one for us... Our first callout to a house boat where we met this handsome man - Howard.

He's been suffering with kidney problems, so we took some blood to assess how he's doing. All without the stress of leaving home!

We’re hiring!!

Looking for an experienced part-time vet for our expanding small animal mobile vet service based from Old Trafford.

We work a little differently than most practices, visiting clients to offer consultations, operations and investigations. We aim to offer clients a high standard of care in their homes and on their doorstep.

We’re only just getting going but having had a flying start, we’re looking for a caring veterinary surgeon who can provide a high quality of medicine and surgery with great interpersonal skills to interact with our lovely client base.

In return we aim to offer a good work-life balance, along with the time to get to know your patients and their owners and provide really good quality care.

We have a mobile surgical and imaging unit along with in-house blood machines to provide the best possible standard of care in the mobile vet setting.

The job is entirely sole charge so we are looking for someone experienced and confident in all aspects of first opinion veterinary work.

Salary range is £45,000 - £65,000 FTE for vets depending on experience, and we’re looking for someone to cover 1-2 x 10 hour days per week.

Additional benefits such as RCVS fees, VDS fees, and CPD budget can be discussed further over email or at interview.

If you think you’d be a good fit, please send a CV and covering letter to [email protected].

It's been a while since we've seen any great danes, then last week we saw these three handsome chaps - Harry, William and Charlie.
Unfortunately, Harry had been off colour for a couple of days. We were able to sort out some medication for him and hopefully he'll be much better soon.
Get well soon Harry!
