For many years I supported the homeless community in Manchester city centre and also Bury. Helping with street kitchens, the mosses centre night cafe and supporting people in finding a new home, fundraising and donations.

It breaks my heart to see people struggling with mental health and living on the streets. Ive been unable to volunteer my time with children, dogs and work commitments so as this is something close to my heart SLADE K9 and Slade-K9 Naturals. are teaming up with Street Treats to provide dog food, treats, coats, leads etc... to support them on their mission to help those that are in need.

We will be taking donations of the above items and dropping them off to be distributed.

What can you do to avoid distress?

🏠 Keep them indoors.
🎆 Attend local events rather than hosting your own.
🦮 Exercise your dog to tire them out before the fireworks begin. This can also provide enrichment (scent work).
🛌 Create a safe space for them to go when scared.

With New Year's Eve comes fireworks.

This can create a distressing atmosphere for your dogs, as well as other pets.

Here are some essential tips to prepare for fireworks.

👅 Prepare some licky mats or hollow hooves with your dog's favourite fillings and freeze them.

🦴 Get some hard chews like paddy wack, ostrich bones, deer legs.

✂️ Get a beanie hat and cut the top off to put over your dog's ears.

🌳 My favourite tip is ‘Treat Tree’. All you need is some paste liver, beef, chicken, or whatever flavour your dog loves. Spread some on the tree trunks during your walk.

Then, let your dog find it!
10 mins of sniffing will use the same amount of energy as a 45-minute walk.

Once the fireworks start, stay calm. If you’re frustrated and worried, it won't help them. Turn up the telly, pop the beanie hat on and give them some goodies. The aim is to make them too tired to bother.

While puppies shouldn’t be christmas presents, we know that it’s bound to happen.

So why not make sure your new companion is trained from the get-go?

By training from puppy age, you can instil core behaviours that will help you down the line.

Be careful at Christmas and keep your dog away from these foods!

🍫 Keep the lid on your Celebrations tin, and make sure you keep them where your dog can’t reach.

Onions can be found in a number of festive foods, from stuffing to gravy. They can make your dog ill if eaten.

Alcohol is everywhere on Christmas. Always keep an eye on your glass, and clean up spillages quickly.

If you have a real tree, don’t let your dog eat any pine needles. They aren’t toxic, but can cause blockages.

Keep your dog safe this Christmas.

Caritas will be delivering the meals to individuals and families on Christmas Eve this year. (every child will get a present or gift voucher) Just call 07855306074 to book a delivery. Last date for ordering a meal will be December 20th.

Caritas will delivering to the elderly and to the care homes on Christmas Day.

Anyone that wants to come on Christmas Day to sit down and eat will need to book in. They will be serving from 1:00pm and guests can stay and have company for as long as they like.

A take- away meal can be collected if people don't want to stay.

This is no charge for this meal.

The weather is horrendous and although our pets have a fur coat its still dangerous for them to be out walking when the temperatures are below 4°

All morning walks are being cancelled, its not worth risking the health of your fur babies. I will attend to any dogs that need a loo break and cuddles.

Please take care on the roads and stay safe.

Stella + Lola are two feisty Bichon Frise, using their charms to get their way.

✋ It seemed to me that boundaries needed to be put in place.

With a stricter routine in place, they calmly leave the house for walks, which, if i may add, they do beautifully.
