Beautiful old lady Cleo came in on Friday for some dental work

This beautiful girl had a condition known as "Stomatitis" which is severe inflammation to the mouth and gums of felines

She needed some extensive dental treatment which included x-rays and multiple extractions

As you can see from the picture she was super comfortable and relaxed post op and even managed to eat her meal before she went home to recover 🐾❤️

Wishing her all the best for a speedy recovery and we're looking forward to seeing her again on Monday for her follow up appointment

Beautiful big boy Loki, and the lovely princess Zara (XL Bullys) came in for their neutering yesterday 🐾❤️

As you can see they were certainly feeling the love from the team! These gentle giants were the pawfect patients all day and enjoyed some extra care and attention from the nurses

We just couldn't get enough of their sloppy kisses 😘

It's not just cats, dogs and rabbits we treat at Walkden, this week we had a lovely visit from Teddy the Dumbo Rat!

We don't often see them in practice so the team was quite excited to introduce themselves, and Teddy couldn't wait to say hello 🤗

This cheeky chappy was super friendly and very inquisitive!!

Rats are often misunderstood, but they make lovely pets. They enjoy human company and are very entertaining

Teddy was having a bit a trouble with some respiratory issues, so vet Jay gave him a check over and some medication to help him feel better

When taking a blood sample doesn't quite go to plan..give up and just have cuddles instead! 😂🥰

Bouncy Labrador cross River came to be spayed yesterday, and whilst usally we are quite successful in taking blood samples before the procedure..this isn't always possible! Especially with a super bouncy fun loving Labrador!

River just wanted to be part of the team and was having far too much fun showering our nurses with lots of sloppy kisses 🐾❤️

We always want to make each visit to the vets a happy one, so on this occasion we opted for a light sedation first before taking Rivers blood sample, these were then checked prior to her anaesthetic induction

Each patient is different, and sometimes a different approach is needed to ensure that we don't cause any unnecessary stress or make them anxious for their next visit

Wishing this beautiful ball of energy a speedy recovery 😘😘

If you already have your surgery booked this will still be honoured, for any pre-neuter checks booked in this week we have managed to book a provisional slot for you in June, the date will be discussed at your appointment

Any clients that still need their dog neutering will only be able to book from JULY onwards

Tigger has been missing from home N26 for over 2 weeks 😢 he is a male Tabby cat, 12 years old, he has a black stripe down his back to the tip of his tail, he is missing his lower right canine tooth

Little Minnie came to us as an emergency this morning as she thought it would be a good idea to have a game of chase with a bee 🐝

Luckily for Millie this just resulted in a bit of a swollen muzzle that soon went down after some intravenous injections!

As the weather is getting warmer we will probably start to see alot more Bees & Wasps so we thought Millie would be the perfect patient to offer some friendly advice on what to do

Cookie the cutie pie 😍🐾

Cookie came in to be spayed on Tuesday and was an instant hit with the team, she had such a bubbly personality and just loved everyone she met!

She was a very good girl having her bloods taken and her catheter placed, she didn't flinch once, super star patient!

Our VCA Jo was on hand to make sure she had a smooth recovery and Cookie was loving all the attention!

Wishing her a speedy recovery and looking forward to lots more cuddles for her post op checks 🩺♥️

Happy Monday! 🐾❤️🩺

Starting off the week with four handsome chaps, who have all been in to see us over the last few days..we've had a bit of a large breed influx it seems!

Jeff the Bermese Mountain dog visited us for some surgery on his eyes, the beautiful Rocky Rottie was in to have his bloods taken, and the very handsome XLs Sanchez & Roman were in for their Castration today!

Despite their size these four gentle giants have loved nothing more than being fussed over by the team, and we've had the best time doing so! ❤️❤️

We have the best job 😜

Zea is a very special girl as she is a guide dog! She loves coming to visit us all and she is always so well behaved when she comes

Being so clever means she knows exactly where the gravy bones are kept and she knows exactly how to work her puppy dog magic to get them 🐾😂

Sometimes our own pets become our patients for the day and little Pedro who belongs to nurse Jane got himself into a pickle last week as he hurt his tail whilst out exploring!

He needed a light sedation so we could clip and clean the area as he wasn't too happy with us looking at it conscious!

Unfortunately for Pedro this meant he had to rock the cone of shame for a few days until it heeled, although he didn't mind too much when he got lots of fuss and dreamies off the team ❤️🐾

Monday morning cuteness overload!!!!

Everyone meet Conan 😍🐾

Conan is 8 weeks old and visited our nurses last week for a little cuddle clinic. His owner wanted him to meet the team and visit the vets before he had his vaccinations this week!

This was a great way for Conan to remember that his first visit to the vets was a pleasant experience so that he feels less anxious on his next visit!

Nurse Danielle had a great time getting to know this gorgeous boy and we can't wait to see him again and watch him grow!

Happy 60th Birthday to our lovely Jacquie who is enjoying a well deserved week off for her special day 🎂🥳

Handsome Hershey has been today for his Castration under our 50% off for XL Bullys

As you can see from the pictures he made himself right at home, and decided after his operation that he just wanted to be part of the team ♥️🐾

He has been the most gentle and loving boy during his stay today and an absolute pleasure to nurse

The lovely Jo has joined us this week as she takes on her next adventure as our new Veterinary Care Assistant ❤️

Jo has been in the Veterinary industry for around 5 years..she's had no problem settling in this week and Argo was super relaxed when Jo was checking his vitals following a dental procedure

She lives at home with all her furry friends which include 4 guinea pigs, a rabbit and 3 dogs!! 🐾

Beautiful Betsy 😍😍🐾

Betsy has been a regular over the last week, following an unexpected incident in the garden which left her with quite a nasty wound to her paw 😢

Vet Imogen was on hand to assist, the wound was flushed and cleaned thoroughly, and Betsy has been visiting every few days for her bandage to be changed!

As you can see from the pictures she has been a very good girl for her bandage changes, although I think a handful of gravy bones might have persuaded her 🙄😂

It's been a help yourself kind of day today... Hasn't it Myrtle 🙄😂❤️ Myrtle was recently spayed, and as you can see has had no trouble recovering! Today we signed her off as everything had healed beautifully, but she just couldn't resist a few extra gravy bones on her way out! 🐾💕

Pretty Purdy 😍😍 Purdy came for her flea and worming treatments this morning, we were prepared with multiple treats but she was such a good girl and she took the wormer right out of our hands 😂

Princess Poppy was in for her annual health check, bloods and booster today ♥️🐾 Poppy's owner was a little worried about leaving her today, as she is a Romanian rescue, but she's been an absolute super star and has had everyone wrapped around her little paws!!

Meet Besty! This gorgeous puppy visited us recently for her 1st vaccination and health check! Remember if you are thinking of getting a puppy for christmas make sure you are fully aware of the work that has to go in to bringing up your puppy healthily including vaccinations and flea and worm treatment. Look at this gorgeous brave girl! <3 Bonnie spent the morning with us as she was having bloods taken for her condition. To cheer her up we let her play with our Nurses puppy in the play room.

Please make sure to keep your pets cool this bank holiday weekend. Many dog breeds such as French bulldogs can become overheated very quickly. Do not let them lie in direct sunlight for too long. Why not try a paddling pool for them to play or splash in. Our nurse has gone to lengths to make a unique paddling pool with added ice cubes to entice the dogs in! We would love to see your creations :D

A loving home needed for this beauty we have nicknamed Dorothy! ❤🐱 please if your are interested in rehoming this little one you have to be aware of her current medical state. She will most likely need extra care and attention as she is very wobbly on foot and would need a full work up to look in to what is actually going on with her. So far she has been flead and wormed and ears cleaned. The vets have also given her an health examination. She is very friendly and loves to purr.

Sprocket saw Lucy and Anna today for his CPE. He decided to play dead when trying to exam him. What a gorgeous boy he is!!

Our Story

White Cross Vets Manchester Walkden is a friendly vet practice on Bridgewater Road. Our experienced and animal loving team - all pet owners themselves - provide care for cats, dogs, rabbits and other small pets.

The surgery has facilities which include an operating theatre equipped for anaesthetics, digital x-ray, in-house laboratory, dentistry equipment, an ultrasound and a blood pressure monitor. You’ll find our practice just off the A6 Manchester Road/High Street near Due Amici restaurant and there is plenty of free parking for our customers.
