Your dog can stay in one of our beautiful furnished private rooms with its own private garden, or they can stay in our home boarding where they will enjoy the company of other dogs. We have been giving dogs wonderful holidays for 20 years

ctv. We are constantly improving and looking for ways to improve our service so we can offer the very best in holidays for the most important member of your family. We cannot take aggressive or noisy dogs as this causes unrest for the others. Local authority licensed and fully insured.

🐾 Volunteers and work experience at Oaksedge Sanctuary in Tansley near Matlock 🐾
Do you love animals and want to make a real difference? Our rescue is home to a wonderful variety of 200 animals, including:

🐷 Pigs
🐹 Guinea pigs
🐇 Rabbits
🐴 Ponies & Mini Ponies
🐑 Sheep
🐔 Chickens, Ducks & Turkeys
🕊️ Birds

We are looking for kind and caring volunteers aged 18 or over to join our team. Whether you’d like to spend your time with your favourite animal, or help out with them all, your support will mean the world to these animals.

Volunteering can include: feeding, cleaning, grooming, enrichment, and giving the animals the love and attention they deserve.

🌟 No experience needed – just a willingness to get stuck in and a love for animals!

At Oaksedge Farm Dog Hotel, kindness and respect are at the heart of everything we do. We believe dogs thrive when they feel safe, understood, and free to express their natural behaviours. That’s why you’ll never see us using aversive tools or harsh training methods.

Instead, we choose equipment and approaches that put comfort and wellbeing first. For walks, we use soft, well-fitted harnesses that allow freedom of movement without pressure or pain. Our philosophy is simple: walks are for the dogs. That means giving them time to explore, pause, and sniff to their hearts’ content. Sniffing isn’t just a pastime—it’s how dogs make sense of the world, and it brings them joy, calm, and enrichment.

Health Check Day for the 28 Guinea Pigs at Oaksedge Farm Sanctuary 🐹🌿 Oaksedge Farm Dog Hotel and Home boarding

Today was health check day for our guinea pigs at Oaksedge Farm Sanctuary. Each one was gently caught and given a full check-up to make sure they’re happy and healthy.

We carefully examined their teeth, skin, hair, ears, trimmed their nails, and weighed them. These checks are really important—guinea pigs’ teeth and nails grow constantly, and if they become overgrown, they can cause discomfort, pain, or even illness. By keeping on top of their care, we make sure they stay in the best condition possible.

Once their checks were done, the guinea pigs went back to their stable to relax and enjoy a feast of fresh long grass and hay—definitely their favorite part of the day!

Caring for them properly means they can continue to thrive and live their best lives here at the sanctuary. 💚

🍂 Autumn is arriving at Oaksedge Farm Dog Hotel 🍂

This morning’s playtime was full of wagging tails, muddy paws, and happy splashes as the dogs enjoyed the fresh autumn air. With the first hints of the season drifting through the trees, the ground is soft and damp – perfect for adventures, but just as perfect for a cosy towel-down afterwards.

Back inside, each pup was gently dried, wrapped in warmth, and made comfortable for a well-earned rest. There’s nothing better than seeing them snuggled up, content after a joyful run in the fields.

At Oaksedge, we love this time of year – the crisp mornings, the colourful leaves, and the simple pleasure of keeping our guests cosy and cared for after their outdoor fun.

Here’s to many more happy, tail-wagging autumn days ahead! 🐾🍁✨

Just eating out of a bowl gives little enrichment, where we can we like to think outside the bowl.

At Oaksedge Farm Dog Hotel, there’s no need to bring bowls for your dog’s stay—we have everything they could possibly need right here. From classic stainless steel bowls to slow-feeders, raised bowls, sturdy options for eager eaters, and even puzzle feeders to keep mealtimes fun and stimulating, we cater for every guest.

We have found keen eaters love their dinner in a puzzle bowl or Kong, where as fussy eaters like dinner from a feeding matt, some dogs hate the noise a metal bowl makes and this puts them off eating so we have sturdy plastic bowls, some tall dogs need raised feeders, there's so many options to choose from. Searching and sniffing for food is great enrichment and very calming. Licking a licky matt is also very calming.
