Just our regular reminder of a very important rule for your visits. Thanks to everyone who abides by this, rain or shine. It’s much appreciated!

🚨INSTANT BANS🚨

I hate that we have to post this, but after two serious incidents today, we will be issuing instant bans to anyone seen on CCTV, choosing to not pick up after their dog(s).

💩 One of our regular visitor’s dogs skidded through, and was coated in dog mess that someone hadn’t bothered to pick up. I cannot imagine their drive home, or the bath they had to give.

💩 During our checks this evening, we discovered that someone has picked up after their dog and thrown the knotted bag through the fence into the woods. Why?! It’s senseless and infuriating, and we will have to use a ladder to try and retrieve it tomorrow.

We have always tried to accept that poo picking is an occupational hazard for us, but we will not accept the facilities being disrespected, to the detriment of our valued visitors. It’s not fair on others and it’s not fair on us.

If you intend to visit and not pick up after your dogs, we would ask that you simply go elsewhere.

💩 We have seen a huge improvement since implementing this policy, but things have been creeping back up in the past week or so, so we’re sharing this as a reminder to all our new visitors.

“Why?” You might ask. Well...

We’ve noticed that poo picking is starting to become a bit of an issue again, and so instead of constantly reminding everyone that picking up after their dog(s) is of course, their responsibility, we’re going to incentivise this to help us maintain our high standards. We also hope it stands as a chance to reward the many visitors who we know, kindly pick up after others. We’d like to thank those of you who already do this, because it really is appreciated.

And here’s how...

We check our facilities daily. Each month, we will keep a tally of the number of 💩s we have to pick up from the field. If there are less than 5 💩s in that month, all of the visitors who have been in that period, will be entered into a draw, to win a free session.

(no) POOPS MEANS PRIZES - we’re still working on that catchphrase 🤪

The winner will be notified by message on the last day of each calendar month. If we find more than 5 in one month, there’ll be no draw, but the counter resets for the following month. I really hope this works, but if it doesn’t, please know, that I’ll be doomed to the fancy but unwanted job title of Director of Dog S**t, forever more.

Did you know…

It’s really important you never leave behind dog treats, food, drinks or dog toys.

Some of our furry visitors suffer from allergies, intolerances and reactivity, that could mean toys and treats make it an unsafe place to visit.

Please help us to keep our facilities clean and safe for all visitors by taking away any toys or treats from your session.

We attended this fantastic dog first aid course, delivered by Pawsitive Steps Dog Training, last year. Thank goodness we did, as we’ve needed to use our learnings TWICE for Teddy, in the few months since attending. (Boxers like to keep you on your toes!)

I would highly recommend signing up, so you are able to calmly and confidently offer dog first aid in your home or on a walk.

Sally is a fantastic teacher, and really brings the training to life, with interactive activities to practice the subject as you’re learning… something we found super helpful when trying to memorise the information, for when we needed to use it!

📖🕰Sunday Story Time

❓We’re often asked why we chose the name “Vinny’s Getaway”, so for newbies, here’s where the name came from, and our reasons for creating Vinny’s Getaway.

🙋🏻‍♂️🙋🏽‍♀️🐶 Us humans (Chris and Jade), were lucky enough to be owned by a beautiful bouncy boxer named Vinny. Vinny was nervous of other dogs, having been attacked numerous times. We understood all too well, the distraction and stress of checking field gates for other dogs entering, and planning our exit routes, ready for when they would inevitably appear. It took a lot of the joy out of our countryside walks.

😁🤔🤩 Using a variety of the lovely existing secure fields, brought back the relaxation and enjoyment of walking without worry. Something I’m sure many of you can relate to. However, we struggled to find places to learn new dog sports and activities in a private space, and were inspired to open our own secure park, that provided a variety of enrichment activities for both dogs and humans.

💡Thinking of all the fun things to create was the easy part, deciding on a name… not so much! We agreed that we wanted to include Vinny’s name somehow, and having now lost him, we are so glad we did. One day, whilst sorting through paperwork, we were reminded of his full Kennel Club name that was given to him at registration, and the decision was made easy for us!

🧸🐕 This year, we’ve been joined by Teddy (our apprentice!) who has been keeping us on our toes. Having a pup has reminded us of so many other benefits to using a secure dog park, such as bonding, exploring novel environments, working on recall in a safe space and practicing training we have already proofed in our home and garden. But most importantly… to relax and have fun!

🎾🦴🏅We plan to continue to add enrichment activities and fun ways for you to enjoy the outdoors with your fur family, so watch this space. We’d love to hear your favourite things about using secure spaces to walk with and train your dogs, and as always, we’re open to hearing requests and suggestions for things you wish we could create.

⁉️Fun Fact Friday⁉️

7️⃣7️⃣7️⃣ Our land is heavy clay and over the very dry, hot summer, Chris and his Dad have painstakingly, hand-shovelled nearly ***SEVEN TONNES*** of soil into cracks that appeared naturally in the ground, on an almost daily basis.

🐕I share this to emphasise how disheartening it is now that we’ve started getting some rain, to discover dozens of huge holes that someone has allowed their dog(s) to dig in the Practice Paddock this week.

🙏🏼 Please, please supervise your dogs at all times and do not allow them to dig or damage during your visit. Digging is a pain for us, but more importantly, it’s hazardous to other visitors.

Morning all! We’re having essential repair work done to the fence in The Big Field starting Monday 26th, for one week.

There will be some machinery noise and knocking, so if you are booked in the Practice Paddock and your dogs are sensitive to noise, please let us know and we will happily reschedule your session.

The new paddock has a selfie station, so you can capture some lovely memories with your pups.

The willow arch we planted a few months ago is taking its time greening up, in this dry spell. We’re looking forward to watching it flourish and becoming a lovely shady tunnel and pretty backdrop for your family photos!

A reminder from little Teddy who is a bit grumpy after poo picking with us this evening.

We’re not sure what’s been going on, but in the past week there has been a record of over FIFTY p**ps left in the field. 5-0 fifty.

Picking up after your dog really isn’t optional and we must remind you that when you leave it on the ground, you risk making other dogs (and humans!) ill.

Please, please pick up after your dogs on every occasion.

This is obviously not directed to the visitors who sometimes miss the odd phantom poo, s**t sometimes really does happen. Thank you to everyone who picks up after their own (and even other peoples’) dogs.

Let’s hope the p**p awards make a come back in August, we’re desperate to award another winner!
