My no.1 piece of advice is to learn your dogs psychology, how they think, what the world looks like through their eyes (and nose).
Give your dog what they need, whilst helping them fit into our lifestyle. Bad behaviour is never intentional and more often than not it's a cry for help. Help them to calm down, help them to learn what is expected of them.
Misunderstanding and miscommunication is the biggest issue we face living in modern times with our dogs. We are humanising our dogs and disregarding and disrespecting their animal/species related needs and how they experience the world.
In terms of our interactions with them, our attention is all they want, aside from food, so give your dog less attention when they are being "bad" and notice and give attention when they are being good.
Learn about your dog like a scientist would learn about a newly discovered species. Be curious, be understanding, be respectful, be their supporting and loving guide. They are one of the most amazing creatures on earth. They find people who are lost, they can indicate on illnesses, they comfort people, they courageously fight with the forces.
In all their shapes and sizes, they have long been (hu)man's best friend ❤️
