House visit tonight to meet this lovely family with their delightful Puppy Kiha, a Collie X Huntaway. Firstly we needed to help improve Kiha’s behaviour around the other dog called Maukha, a very sweet elderly Labrador and learnt techniques to help them bond together. We then had time to learn some fun tricks - tuggy & drop, left & right commands, weaving between legs & a hand touch. Such a clever puppy!

The look of delight of having a dog who is brilliantly trained! 5 weeks ago Daphne ran off with other dogs and lunged at them on lead, even pulling her owner to the ground. Yet today, she demonstrated beautiful heel work past dogs and excellent recall around them too. The change in this dog is extraordinary! Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈 Daphne & Ally!

Huge congratulations! 🎈🍾🎉 Otto and his parents just smashed their Recall test on Rodborough Common! Only 5 sessions ago Otto was chasing birds, scents and other dogs leaving him on lead. Yet today, this super star recalled to the whistle off every single distraction (dogs, birds, scents) without hesitation and immediately 👏 He remained off lead throughout and kept within a circle of control around his owners. After some intense work, these 3 can now enjoy many years of freedom and long walks under control!

Fabulous sunny day beginning with training the very fluffy Finnish Lapphund, Kaneli. Today she started her 5 week recall and heel work program where she will learn not to charge up to strangers or other dogs, but to ask permission to play, play politely and recall out of play when asked. Kaneli will also learn good heel work so she doesn’t drag her owners on her lead and can walk past other dogs and people when needed.

New recruit Freddie the Show Cocker Spaniel and his Dad, Micheal. Freddie currently barks and chases birds so cannot be let off lead so his Dad has signed him up to learn recall and heel work from Pamper & Scamper. We’re aiming that after 5 sessions Freddie will be safely off lead and recalling from birds before he flushed them and asks permission to flush, we will use the same methods to teach permission when wanting to play with other dogs, and heel work for when he needs to ignore the other dogs or birds. Wish these two good luck! 👍

Please welcome Jackie and her lovely Lab called George. George has began the 5 week Recall & Heel work program and after a difficult start last week, today he excelled himself! Currently George wants to run for miles after scent and wildlife. On this course he is going to learn not to run off but to stay within a ‘Circle of Control’ when off lead and to recall to his whistle immediately regardless of distractions. A lot of work ahead so watch this space for his results it about 5 weeks time hopefully!

Can I just take a few minutes to tell you about Molly the Boarder Terrier? Molly came to lessons with her Mum Helen a few months ago because she was charging and barking at other dogs. Now, whilst my page is usually full of magic and success stories, sometimes things aren’t that straightforward. Sometimes our rescue dogs have had just too much trauma to overcome, and in Molly’s case, other dogs are just too scary 😔 However, Molly landed herself a home with the most patient and loving parents who have never given up and trusted my techniques. They have learnt strategies and a greater understanding of what things are like for Molly in the big scary world, and as a result Molly can live her best life, feeling protected and mostly relaxed. Is it the perfect ending? No. But not everyone can have those. Am I extremely grateful that Molly has a brilliant forever home? Absolutely. ❤️

Congratulations to Millie and her brilliant parents Dan & Mags! I met these guys whilst I was walking my dogs in Woodchester woods and they were on holiday. They explained how they couldn’t trust Millie off lead anymore because her desire to hunt and chase scents were so high. Amazingly they were prepared to travel each week from Coventry to work under the Pamper & Scamper program. 5 weeks later Milly is off lead safely, responding immediately and every time she hears her whistle and remaining in a circle of control around the owners. Millie has asked her parents if she can now go onto the Rookie Gun Dog program and they have agreed! Millie will now learn to hunt for dummies whilst under control, a stop whistle, turn whistle and awesome obedience! Watch this space for more progress from Millie ❤️

A great afternoon session doing a house visit for Snoop and her family. Snoop is a delightful Working Cocker Spaniel puppy. Fortunately her owners contacted me whilst she’s really young so we could start off on the right foot. Today we went through a huge list of - house rules/heel walking / resource guarding / crate training / nipping & biting / how to train her to be calm with visitors and not jump up / we even got the children learning how to safely get their toys off the pup and training a bit of searching work to calm the pup down when she gets over the top! Amazing what can be achieved in a couple of hours! Snoop will see me next for a Socialisation session and then begin learning her whistle! 🐕 If you have a young puppy and want to start off well, message me.

Check out this absolute beauty who has just booked in to learn all about the right way to socialise a pup! Next week this Finnish Lapphund will learn how to grow in confidence around other dogs but in a way that won’t develop into an obsession to play and then ignore her owners recall. So often people are told that they should socialise their puppy by just letting them go around and play with every dog they see and to make ‘dog friends’. I see this mistake time and time again where this then leads to really poor recall and dogs who charge at others and become obsessional. If you have a puppy and want to start things off on the right foot, ensuring a smooth transition into adulthood then get in touch.

This is Benji walking along a high street without a care in the world. Hard to believe that just over a month ago he was so scared of traffic that he wouldn’t even leave his house. Benji lives in London so has had Pamper & Scamper sessions online. How it makes me smile to see the confidence grow in a dog who was once so frightened.

Cheddar the Vizsla began working on his water retrieval for his Intermediate Gun Dog Training. The dummy represents a Duck, so we want a quiet entry from the dog so as not to frighten the ducks away. It’s important to train the dog not to shake when they come out the water so they don’t drop the duck but deliver it to our hand instead, then we train him to ’shake’ on command.
