DOGS 🦮🐕🦺🐕
🐶 Take them for a walk BEFORE it gets dark, and keep them on a lead to prevent them bolting if a firework goes off.
If that's not possible, it's okay to miss a walk. It's better to miss a walk than risk them getting frightened by fireworks.
🎆 Keep doors closed.
✅ Give them a safe space to stay, keep it covered and dark to reduce noise and flashing lights. Don't confine them in the place as this may increase their stress levels. Natural hiding places are under the bed or behind the sofa, if this is where your pet prefers to be, let them settle there.
🐶 If your dog seeks reassurance, it's OK to give it. But if your dog is not seeking interaction, leave them alone, hiding is a coping strategy.
🎇 Consider the use of calming aids such as anxiety shirts and or pheromone diffusers and collars.
🐶 Use distraction techniques, fill toys with food, use puzzle feeders or play games with your dog.
✅ Check your dogs microchip details are up to date here, www.check-a-chip.co.uk
